POV : It’s raining you feel like re reading your favourite passages from Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë The connection Brontë formed between Jane and Rochester, her love interest will always be fascinating to me. Jane Eyre believed she and Edward Rochester were kindred spirits, she believed their love was divine and transcendental, surpassing all that was material. Their spiritual bond not only helps them find each other but brings them close to their inner most selves. The passage that’s highlighted is when long after her separation from Rochester, she hears his voice calling out to her in longing and agony. The voices, she feels need her and to him she returns without a second thought. She through her deep connection, knows him to be in trouble and is drawn to him. On her return, she learns the Rochester indeed was in fact in pain and anguish, having encountered a terrible accident. Jane’s belief in forgiveness and Rochesters redemption re-unites them again, stronger and unwavering than before. Rochester’s transformation marked by his willingness to change into a better person. In painting the character of Jane Eyre, Charlotte Brontë reflected her own self of dismantlement and the longing to achieve equilibrium in her inner conflicts in regards to religion, morality, love and freedom in the Victorian era. She too, like Jane struggled with questions regarding societal norms, financial independence for women being necessary and the idea of love as freeing not enslaving, the idea that women must be bound to their love interests for love rather than financial or societal obligation.

📚Wide Sargasso Sea, Jean Rhys📚 Il romanzo di Jean Rhys si pone come una sorta di prequel del capolavoro di Charlotte Brontë, "Jane Eyre", dove si esplora in particolar modo la storia di Bertha Mason, personaggio solo secondario della trama originale della Brontë. I punti di vista all'interno del romanzo sono principalmente due: nella prima parte del libro e nell'ultima, il lettore fa esperienza del punto di vista della giovane Antoinette, chiamata poi Bertha dal marito. Nella parte centrale, anche se non viene mai nominato esplicitamente, è presente il punto di vista di Mr Rochester, subito dopo il matrimonio con Antoinette. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Il romanzo è un ottimo re-writing del capolavoro della Brontë, in cui si cerca di dare spazio ad un personaggio che nella trama originale aveva avuto solo un ruolo secondario marginale. Sebbene sia un ottimo esempio di letteratura post-coloniale, la brevità del testo non mi ha permesso di entrare bene in empatia con i personaggi descritti, o con l'ambientazione caraibica. Avrei preferito forse un testo più corposo, che permettesse al lettore di appassionarsi di più alla trama, magari con l'aggiunta di sottotrame fra i vari personaggi coinvolti, come ad esempio Christophine. Jane Eyre is one of those classics that I've struggled to get into, but lately I've been listening to it on audiobook. Going to be honest...I think Mr Rochester is more annoying than romantic 😂 probably because I'm not generally a fan of byronically broody heroes. But Jane herself, with her refusal to compromise her conscience, her strength of character and her spirit that refuses to give in, is a heroine I find greatly admirable. I also appreciate that this isn't a story about a woman loving a bad boy and ignoring his flaws, but about a woman who refuses to compromise her morals, even when it's for a man she loves, and because she is steadfast, he, in time, does change and proves that he is a different man (and only then she returns to him). This is inspired by the tumultuous, tortured Cathy/Heathcliff dynamic and the quote, "You say I killed you — Haunt me, then" from Wuthering Heights, along with a teensy nod to a scene in Jane Eyre, the first classic book I fell in love with (at 11). Capisco che il suo personaggio è stato volutamente disegnato in questo modo, ma ogni volta che era presente non vedevo l'ora che il capitolo terminasse il prima possibile. E voi? Late Easter post - we spent such a lovely day with family. Lili got to do her annual Easter egg hunt (Rosie's definitely still too little). Lili and Rose each got a custom peep stuffy (from an Etsy shop). Rose's basket was very simple this year with a sunhat, the peep, and a carrot teether. 🪺 From family she received two pink bunny stuffies, clothes, and her actual baskets. @mimi.makes.creates made Rose's first Easter dress! It turned out gorgeous and too cute - love the rabbit 🐇 and rose 🌹 fabric she found! 🪺 Spot's Easter Surprise is a very cute short book with lots of colorful illustrations. My First Easter was good and mentioned a lot of things to anticipate for celebrating the holiday, but lacked the religious portion I expected from that particular book. Book review!📖 Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 I expect that I would not like this book, that I would hate this book as I’m far from a fan of classics before this book. But wow! This entire story and plot was just so *chef kiss*. Everything in the book matched so well in and there was no random pullouts from the entire story. The plot twists in this book had me completely in shock as I could not even be close of predicting them! From the start where Jane is just 10 years old to her age of 19 (ish) with a last chapter of her being in her thirties. It was just magical to see how her life plays out and how similar her life is so our life while also being the opposite of what most of our lives look today.
