Friend Friday with inspiring poems by @morganharpernichols and a couple of random life 📷 I made some stories about this but wanted to write on it as well. Last year was one of the hardest years of my life. I’ve struggled with chronic illness, pain, and autoimmune issues since I was 13 (now 30), but last year I had some close calls and really scary hospital stays. This year, I slowed down majorly. I wanted to physically recuperate as much as possible and focus on books and people I love more than just page numbers. So when I restarted my account in February, I had no idea what I’d be setting myself up for: so many amazing and authentic friendships. I’m 🏷️ as many as I can, but know that if you weren’t, it wasn’t because I didn’t want to. It’s because I ran out of room! You can only 🏷️ 20 people on one post 😭. Go give some of them some love. Then keep an eye on my stories in the future, because I keep a rotating list of y’all to 🗣️ when I can 🫶🏼 I know that some sides of booksta can be hella t0x!c. if i landed in a place unknown, first i would be curious, and my instinct to explore would erupt within me. i would assume the best, and prepare to be excited, and would feel kindness toward any whom i might meet. i would assume that just like me, they want to be happy, and feel safe and protected, that, just like me, they don't want to be suffer, to have their hearts broken by loved ones, or those in whom they have placed their trust. i would assume that, just like me, they want to reach out to distant lands in search of connection, not strife. i notice how much harder it is to make these assumptions in lands closer to me, where my own heart has been broken, often, and so, i realize that the work is clear: to heal my broken heart, i must learn to make the familiar strange, just as i love to make the strange familiar, and not only imagine the best, but be the best friend, neighbour, daughter, sister, teacher, student, in hopes of finding love in all the spaces between, until they are in between no more. - Tammy Stone Takahashi
