This is the place that I grew up in, and have lived here amongst these forests, amongst these trees for the larger part of my life, with a short intermezzo when I was a student at a Fine Arts School in Amsterdam. My son was born there (same as me), my daughter was born here in Putten, and both of them grew up and played here under the trees. This is not the forest adjacent to my hometown by the way. It is a very small village, if you can call it that, named Drie (Three). Three giants lived here once it is said, but only the echo of their footsteps remain. There is something about living in a place for a very long time, about forging a connection to the land, about becoming one with it. As I said to my most beloved daughter when we sat down on the moss to have tea and cake; "It is not only about us needing something from the land, even if it is only feeding our eyes on it's beauty. It is also the land and all of it's attending beings, both visible and invisible, needing us. Needing our attention and our love." My footsteps and those of my children will echo there in times to come. Who knows in what strange ways some part of me may remain there, treading amongst those withered roots. Brightest Blessings!
