I deserve to take care of myself. You pour so much into others and now it’s time to pour into yourself. It doesn’t have to be a full blown makeover, new wardrobe, and going out on the town. I know that right now some of the things I really want to do aren’t possible so I focus on the little things that make me happy that make really big impacts in my life. I wake up before my kids so I can have peace and quiet without being touched. Within this time, I workout, take a shower, read my Bible, prep things for the day, read for leisure, and take a nap. I call this ✨ LUXURY ✨and I do it everyday because it helps take care of me so I can take care of others! 💔I am a survivor of trauma and childhood abuse. Perhaps you knew this part of my story. It’s how my business came to be. Long story short👉🏼absent alcoholic father, step dad that abused me, lived with multiple relatives from age 11-13, got into a codependent emotionally abusive marriage at 18 which ended in divorce, and then when I was in my late 20’s (happily remarried) after the birth of my 3rd child my anxiety spiraled out of control, I had PPD, and everything came to a head. 😮💨I was forced to confront and face the trauma I avoided for years. I pretended it wasn’t there affecting my actions and decisions - but it always was. I realized I had to change. And not just for me, but for my children. 🥺My confidence, self belief, and self worth was basically non existent. I was codependent and basing every choice I made out of fear of rejection and abandonment. ✍🏻I began healing through writing. I started a blog where I shared my past, my trauma, and my experience with anxiety. My story resonated. As I shared I began to heal. 🎙️I started a podcast after and began to use my voice. I realized what I did helped others and it helped me and I wanted to take it further. 🤓I discovered coaching in February of 2020. By May of 2020 I was a certified life coach and I started my business in July. I used the mindset skills I learned to help myself and manage my anxiety. 💜The true purpose and meaning behind what I do is to give women back their power, their confidence, their self belief, and to go after what they want without fear of rejection or failure. How often have you doubted yourself? How often have you let fear of rejection control you and so you continue playing it safe and people pleasing? 🦋Learning the mindset skills that I use everyday and building my emotional intelligence continually has shaped me into the confident person I am today. 🧲And it’s the reason my marketing is so powerful. I am so happy I made the choice to choose me. To choose healing. And to choose self trust above all else. It allows me to be a strong leader for myself, my family and my clients. And that is the power of taking your past 💔 and turning it into ❤️🔥

Here's a little devotional that I hope inspires you: My family and I are participating in a step challenge. Each participant paid $50 hoping to win the honey pot at the end of the 5 month challenge. Not only is the money a good incentive, but bragging rights is sweeter than the money. Like I mentioned, this is a FIVE MONTH challenge. We are in a marathon, not a sprint. On day one, 2 members crossed the 50k step threshold each with over 10 members trailing behind eager to catch up. Yep, we are a competitive bunch. As the days passed, frustration with the application & the rules were expressed. It was easy to be discouraged. My discouragement was coming from the enemy because I was forgetting my goal. My personal goal was to feel connected with God. To do so, I decided to honor Him by dedicating my walking time to prayer and worship. I think about all the walking Jesus and His disciples did 2000 years ago. Not once did they complain about walking in sandals on dirt roads. I think about Jesus taking each step with purpose and the ground invisibly trembling beneath Him with each step He took. I also meditate on the disciples leaving their homes behind to follow Him. I don't think it's a coincidence that God created us to feel good when we move our bodies as endocannabinoids and other hormones kick in. Imagine if He hadn't? Not to say the purpose wouldn't have been achieved, but it would've been done with a lot more ache and pain. The hormones help us feel good and see the body aches and soreness as a humble exchange for the boost in energy and confidence we gain. God literally thinks of absolutely everything before we realize we need it. He is a good good Father. Hence, 3 John 1:2 "Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul." There are so many themes in my experience so far on week one of the challenge and verses to reflect on. As the weeks go on, I'll continue to share more devotions. It's often said that a mother's love is the first we experience, shaping how we see love and connection from the very start. But as we grow, our relationships with our mothers can become strained. Maybe you felt like you were never good enough, always seeking approval but never quite receiving it. Or perhaps you felt abandoned, like your needs weren't met or your voice wasn't heard. These experiences can leave emotional scars, known as the "mother wound." The mother wound can manifest in different ways. You might find yourself seeking validation and approval from others, constantly striving to prove your worth. Or you might struggle with feelings of abandonment, fearing that if you let others too close, they'll leave you too. Many of us have trauma that may cause us to act or react a certain way to situations as they come about. While we can often explain some of our actions by looking at the trauma we have endured, that does not mean that the actions are acceptable or appropriate. The explanation as to why someone who has been screamed at their whole life for spilling a cup of milk would do the same to their child is obvious, but that doesn't mean that it is a healthy response to a very small problem. It’s a few hours shy of the weekend ending and I’m laying here on my sofa reflecting. I’ve been trying to write this post most of the afternoon…I think I have the words now. My heart is overwhelmed by all that has happened.🥲 I wanna share a few things that I’ve been reflecting on: 👩🏽🎓 I’m now a part of the 4% of Black doctors in the U.S. 👩🏽🎓My husband, both daughters, sis-in-love and several of my Black and Brown kid clients had never seen a Black doctor before me🥲 👩🏽🎓This accomplishment shattered yet another family generational curse and continuing to create legacy 👩🏽🎓I showed myself that I can yet again d hard things This degree and status has nothing to do with clout or getting promoted or getting a pay raise. This degree has everything to do with advocacy, representation, and change! I am being the change that I want to see. I am creating lanes of possibility for my daughters and all the other Black and Brown girls to travel down when their turn comes. This degree is so much bigger than me. So blessed with an amazing first Shabbat here on our homestead. A fellow sister stopped by yesterday to bring me a full ready to eat meal 🥹 and our children had such a wonderful time she came back and spent quite a few hours this afternoon.
