𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐈𝐋𝐘 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑 by Lynn Painter Thank you to @berkleyromance and @acebookspub for the free book! #berkleypartner #berkelyinfluencer This was our March buddy read pick and I had some great discussions with people for this one! Lynn is an absolute MASTER when it comes to banter. I loved the chemistry between Max and Sophie. Both are jaded with love and relationship- Max had a serious one fall apart, and Sophie had been cheated on so much she no longer believed in love. The concept of professional wedding objectors was hilarious, if not far-fetched, but it made for some true rom-com moments. However, writing this review a few months later, I had difficulty remembering this book. I remember swooning, and devouring the book when I read it, but can’t remember why. It could be I should have written my review sooner (this is the most likely reason) but also the book was maybe too light on subject matter. It was fun, flirty, and swoon for sure, but didn’t hit the hard discussions that I wish were there (the “why’s” behind the characters beliefs and actions) 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠- 🎉 when Harry met sally 🎉 “just friends” UH HUH WE KNOW HOW THAT TURNS OUT 🎉 fake dating 🎉 TRUE 90’s rom-com 🎉 warm and fuzzies 🎉 headstrong FMC 🎉 swoon-worthy MMC 🎉 he falls first 🎉 some downright HILARIOUS moments coupled with sweet, quotable ones 𝕊𝕎𝕀ℙ𝔼 𝔽𝕆ℝ 𝕋ℝ𝕆ℙ𝔼𝕊 𝔸ℕ𝔻 𝕊𝕌𝕄𝕄𝔸ℝ𝕐

The Affairs of the Falcón's 🏙️ by Melissa Rivero 3/5 ⭐ It was... interesting. It was incredibly depressing. It was one thing after another and it just had a negative vibe about it. The story is definitely that of a family just trying to survive and having to face so many obstacles, so maybe the dreary atmosphere is perfect. I just...can't 100% love a book that is just so bleak. Like 98% was bleak. The characters were also pretty flat and I just didn't care about them. Definitely a low 3 star rating but not quite bad enough to be a 2. Blurb ⬇️ Ana Falcón, along with her husband Lucho and their two young children, has fled the economic and political strife of Peru for a chance at a new life in New York City in the 1990s. Being undocumented, however, has significantly curtailed the family’s opportunities: Ana is indebted to a loan shark who calls herself Mama, and is stretched thin by unceasing shifts at her factory job. To make matters worse, Ana must also battle both criticism from Lucho’s cousin—who has made it obvious the family is not welcome to stay in her spare room for much longer—and escalating and unwanted attention from Mama’s husband. As the pressure builds, Ana becomes increasingly desperate. While Lucho dreams of returning to Peru, Ana is deeply haunted by the demons she left behind and determined to persevere in this new country. But how many sacrifices is she willing to make before admitting defeat and returning to Peru? And what lines is she willing to cross in order to protect her family? 🤍 Q: if you could forget the story & reread one book, what would you choose? The Reappearance of Rachel Price 🎬 by Holly Jackson 4/5 ⭐ This is currently living rent free in my head. I can't stop thinking about it. At first I wasn't sure about it, everyone was acting off even Bel and when Rachel appeared it didn't feel as crazy as I thought it would. But... Oh my. I was so wrong about Rachel and Charlie and Jeff and Pat and wow. The actual situation with Rachel was even more bat shit wild than I thought and that ending??? Gotta love female rage. Blurb ⬇️ Lights. Camera. Lies. 18-year-old Bel has lived her whole life in the shadow of her mom’s mysterious disappearance. Sixteen years ago, Rachel Price vanished and young Bel was the only witness, but she has no memory of it. Rachel is gone, long presumed dead, and Bel wishes everyone would just move on. But the case is dragged up from the past when the Price family agree to a true crime documentary. Bel can’t wait for filming to end, for life to go back to normal. And then the impossible happens. Rachel Price reappears, and life will never be normal again. Rachel has an unbelievable story about what happened to her. Unbelievable, because Bel isn’t sure it’s real. If Rachel is lying, then where has she been all this time? And – could she be dangerous? With the cameras still rolling, Bel must uncover the truth about her mother, and find out why Rachel Price really came back from the dead . . . 🔪Q: do you enjoy YA? ✧ Book Review ✧ By the Orchid and the Owl by Mariah Montoya ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ℚ𝕦𝕚𝕔𝕜 𝕊𝕪𝕟𝕠𝕡𝕤𝕚𝕤: Rayna Drey is forced to the Esholian Institute along with all the other eighteen year olds on the Isle of Eshol. There the Good Council will brand her with magic. However, Rayna discovers an inexplicable force within her that only the dangerous Mind Manipulator, Coen Steeler, can help her conceal from the Good Council. 𝕄𝕪 𝕥𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤: WOW!! I was sold by the cover and a magical school setting. It did not disappoint! It’s the first book in the Esholian Institute series and what a fantastic debut! There is everything I want in a fantasy: unique magic, strong FMC, amazing world building, friends like family, villains who o hate, and romance. Animals and nature are important themes as well. There are Harry Potter (house sorting!) and Fourth Wing Vibes! No dragons but a BA white tiger named Jagaros. Coen is definitely book boyfriend material. My only disappointment is book two isn’t out yet! Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone 🔪🩸 by Benjamin Stevenson 2/5 ⭐ I really don't understand the hype. It got boring so fast and I stopped caring about the characters and the plot, so much so, that I can't be bothered to give a more detailed explanation of my dislike. Blurb ⬇️ Everyone in my family has killed someone. Some of us, the high achievers, have killed more than once. I'm not trying to be dramatic, but it is the truth. Some of us are good, others are bad, and some just unfortunate. I'm Ernest Cunningham. Call me Ern or Ernie. I wish I'd killed whoever decided our family reunion should be at a ski resort, but it's a little more complicated than that. Have I killed someone? Yes. I have. Who was it? Let's get started. EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY HAS KILLED SOMEONE My brother My stepsister My wife My father My mother My sister-in-law My uncle My stepfather My aunt Me 🩸Q: do you read mysteries or crime books? 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘 + 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒂𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒄 + 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒒𝒖𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒔 🥞✨️🩷 𝑳𝒊𝒗𝒓𝒐: Serpent and Dove 𝑨𝒖𝒕𝒐𝒓: Shelby Mahurin 𝑨𝒗𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒂çã𝒐: 9/10 ☆ English in the comments! . . . . #bookstagrammerportugal #bookstagrampt #bookstagramportugal #bookpost #instabook #bookopinion #bookreview #bookgirl #trend #bookaesthetic #bookhabit #bookhaolic #booklover #livrosemaislivros #leituras #goodreads #serpentanddove #serpentanddovefanart #bookquotes #bookaesthetic #shelbymahurin #louandreid

Good Girl, Dead Girl 🔪 by Emily Kazmierski 2/5 ⭐ I immediately couldn't take anything serious because of the character names. They're all real names but their combinations though...they sounded like bad character names in a subpar crime tv show. Sorry, I'm not taking any man serious with the name "rock" and a bad haircut. Get outta here. The plot itself was just immensely underdeveloped, a ton of grammar issues, and ultimately just not good. Blurb ⬇️ Everybody in Hacienda has heard the story of that night. Intrepid high school journalist Gracia Cuoco was murdered. The last person to see her alive? Valencia Lamb’s father--the town’s respected sheriff. Who disappeared after visiting the crime scene. Six months later, Valencia can’t let it go. There has to be something crucial she’s missing. Tired of waiting for the interim sheriff to crack the case, Valencia starts her own investigation. But the deeper in she gets, the murkier the waters. Someone in Hacienda doesn’t want Valencia to know what really happened, and they won’t hesitate to make her disappear, too. 🌼 Q: what are you currently reading? 🌼 #bookreview #bookreviews #bookthoughts #bookopinion #booktalk #bookobsession #bookpost #bookcontent #bookcommunity #alwaysreading #feelingbookish #crimebooks #fictionbooks #readerforlife #readingaddict #readingcommunity #readersofinsta #readersofig #booksofinstagram #booksbooksbooks #booksofig #booksonbooksonbooks

#tressoftheemeral

Caraval review 🎪🎟️🎡🎠🎩 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 🎟️ I recently finished Caraval and thought id give 🎟️ you all a review as i know some of you are thinking about reading it ❤️ 🎪 I’d heard mixed reviews about Caraval before 🎪 reading but most were positive and wow am i glad i gave it a try!! This was a fantasy book like no other that i’ve read before and honestly the whole thing felt like a dream, the creativity behind @stephanie_garber ‘s writing makes it easy to picture the world you are in and oh my gosh it is beautiful 😍 but at the same time theres this bitter sense of danger and not knowing what, or who to believe!! 🎩 I have to thank @lostinliteraturex and a few 🎩 others who convinced me to read this book because I actually wasn’t sure before 🤭 ⭐️ And finally the important part… i usually don’t ⭐️ give books a .5 rating however im so conflicted with this one and so i think that makes it worthy of the 4.5 stars because if it was a full 5 star then i most likely wouldnt have doubts iykyk 😂😭 The reason i havent given this 5 stars was because i wasbt fully sucked into the story until about halfway through and maybe thats because im diffucult to please and had a lot going on at the time but thats just how i feel ❤️ i also found it a bit confusing at times which i think was sort of the whole point of the book but it did throw me off a bit Overall though, i loved this book and the characters in it, the sense of family and community at the end really warmed my heart 🥹 and im excited to read Legendary next!!! #book #bookstagram #bookcommunity #bookpost #bookaddict #booknerd #bookobsessed #booklover #booklove #bookappreciation #caraval #stephaniegarber #romancebooks #romancebook #bookreview #bookopinion #bookphotography

Tudo no meu ver perfeito. #netflix #erindoom #fabricantedelágrimas #fabbricantedilacrime #bookreader #bookopinion #bookaholic #bookinstagram #asminhasleituras #asminhasopiniões #myopinion #livrosemaislivros #livrosderomance #romance

👾✨ thoughts on tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow ✨👾 hey, hello, hi booksta bees. how are you, how’s your week been?!? and more importantly, have you read this one? what did you think?!? before we get to the review, my week has been more a bit of a slog, so i’m really glad that tomorrow is friday and it’s a long weekend!!! i read tomorrow x3 at the beginning of my holiday and since that moment i’ve had a lot of (what i’m sure are) unpopular thoughts about this book. i think if you love this one, which many do, you’ll hate this review but i love seeing honest reviews, even when i disagree with them so i need to keep that energy up on my account. so here we go. —— i was a little late to the tomorrow x3 train and maybe all the hype and glowing five star reviews worked against this book because honestly i just didn’t get they hype. tomorrow x3 started with an interesting plot and seemingly interesting characters as we meet sam and sadie. two game obsessed friends who haven’t seen each other for ages after a falling out when they were kids. we come to see their friendship begin again (and many times throughout the book change) and we see them become partners as they create several video games. that all sounds great and it was - to a point - but as the book went on it fell into so many boring cliches that it felt a bit like reading a ya novel. (i should also say that while i love ya for others, it’s never really worked for me.) and the interesting characters we met felt more like insufferable caricatures. i also found that the book seemed to tell more than it showed, which wasn’t helped by the heavy handed video game references throughout the book. i know that video games were a major focus but you don’t think about them every second of your life. (especially not right after a major loss in your life?!?) (continued in the comments)

The Bright Lands 💫 by John Fram 1/5 ⭐ Why did every character feel unnecessary? And how is Joel the main character and he doesn't even feel real? This story relied on so many tired stereotypes it lost any appeal it could've had. No thanks. Blurb ⬇️ The town of Bentley holds two things dear: its football, and its secrets. But when star quarterback Dylan Whitley goes missing, an unremitting fear grips this remote corner of Texas. Joel Whitley was shamed out of conservative Bentley ten years ago, and while he’s finally made a life for himself as a gay man in New York, his younger brother’s disappearance soon brings him back to a place he thought he’d escaped for good. Meanwhile, Sheriff’s Deputy Starsha Clark stayed in Bentley; Joel’s return brings back painful memories—not to mention questions—about her own missing brother. And in the high school hallways, Dylan’s friends begin to suspect that their classmates know far more than they’re telling the police. Together, these unlikely allies will stir up secrets their town has long tried to ignore, drawing the attention of dangerous men who will stop at nothing to see that their crimes stay buried. But no one is quite prepared to face the darkness that’s begun to haunt their nightmares, whispering about a place long thought to be nothing but an urban legend: an empty night, a flicker of light on the horizon—The Bright Lands. Shocking, twisty, and relentlessly suspenseful, John Fram’s debut is a heart-pounding story about old secrets, modern anxieties and the price young men pay for glory. 💗Q- what are your weekend plans? Warrior Girl Unearthed ⚡ by Angeline Boulley 5/5 ⭐ I'm mad I didn't read this sooner. I absolutely loved Angeline Boulley's storytelling - it was gripping, emotional, and raw. You can tell she cares a lot about her community. I loved learning more about the Ojibwe culture! We learn so many interesting things that the culture/language aspect of this is fantastic. I also loved that the author gave us so much information about MMIW and repatriation, something we should ALL know about, and that was just another piece that made this standout. Blurb ⬇️ Perry Firekeeper-Birch was ready for her Summer of Slack but instead, after a fender bender that was entirely not her fault, she’s stuck working to pay back her Auntie Daunis for repairs to the Jeep. Thankfully she has the other outcasts of the summer program, Team Misfit Toys, and even her twin sister Pauline. Together they ace obstacle courses, plan vigils for missing women in the community, and make sure summer doesn’t feel so lost after all. But when she attends a meeting at a local university, Perry learns about the “Warrior Girl”, an ancestor whose bones and knife are stored in the museum archives, and everything changes. Perry has to return Warrior Girl to her tribe. Determined to help, she learns all she can about NAGPRA, the federal law that allows tribes to request the return of ancestral remains and sacred items. The university has been using legal loopholes to hold onto Warrior Girl and twelve other Anishinaabe ancestors’ remains, and Perry and the Misfits won’t let it go on any longer. Using all of their skills and resources, the Misfits realize a heist is the only way to bring back the stolen artifacts and remains for good. But there is more to this repatriation than meets the eye as more women disappear and Pauline’s perfectionism takes a turn for the worse. As secrets and mysteries unfurl, Perry and the Misfits must fight to find a way to make things right – for the ancestors and for their community. ⚡Q- have you heard of MMIW before? If not, definitely look into it! It's important we all know about it! ⚡ #bestbooks #indigenousbooks #indigenousauthors #bookstoread #booksyoushouldread

REVIEW - Loyally, Luke by Pepper Basham - 4⭐️ This book was a cute royalty romance that was an unexpected find for me. It is the third book in a series but can totally be read as a standalone. This book gave me a huge Prince and Me movie vibe when I listened to it, and I think it might be a reason why I liked it even more because that movie was my childhood. Luke is a grumpy introverted carpenter who can’t stand anything romantic. He travels to the island of Skamar to help with some restoration work and has a very unpleasant meeting in a coffee shop with Ally, a princess of Skamarian Islands, who tries to find her own feet in royal adult life and right her past mistakes. Aliana escapes to the secluded mountains to take charge of the orphanage’s renovations and when she learns that Luke is the one that was hired to do the construction working she decides to hide her royal identity, trying to enjoy the anonymous life and the fact that for once someone treats her like a real person. And Luke himself ends up intertwined with all the romantic and cheesy romance tropes he was trying so hard to avoid. I genuinely liked the relationship and dynamics between them. I also appreciated the fact that when the identity reveal happened, there was no silly miscommunication that I hate so much. He took this as an adult without an ugly drama. I loved their fishing and tree climbing moments and how they both encouraged each other to be their best selves. I also loved that while Luke was this sarcastic and grumpy man, he had this soft spot for children around him and was always so patient and supportive with his family, no matter how annoying his sisters were. And their sibling banter was great! It's a sweet and heartwarming romance book that fills you with coziness, laughter, and hope. Also, a perfect fit for the fans of Hallmark movies – there were a lot of references, which I would have appreciated much more if I were a fan of those movies. My only complaint would probably be the fact that I would want to have more of their background histories instead of those little glimpses we get. Many thanks to @netgalley and @thomasnelson publisher for a free audiobook copy!

Hey babies, just a PSA. May is AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) Heritage Month. It is a celebration usually of the Asian and Pacific Islander population. AAPI Heritage Month is not really a thing we have in mainland Asia for obvious reasons– it is rooted in diasporic identity and the unique cultural heterogeneity of various geographic and social communities in the US. But that is not what I will be talking about here. I want to remind non Asian folks, that AAPI Heritage Month is **NOT** the time to recommend One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston and She Drives Me Crazy by Kelly Quindlen. Despite the best of your intentions, including white authors on a list of AAPI representation, simply for having an Asian love interest/side character, is not appropriate or even sensitive. The observance of dates for marginalised communities like Black History Month, AAPI heritage month and National Indigenous History Month shouldn't be a time for you to capitalize and make lists that aren't well thought-out, prioritizing quantity and popularity (including bestseller authors who are not from the community) and erasing authors who are actually from said community. I have seen this happen time and again. Allyship is commendable and very much appreciated, but should not take precedence over people from the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities themselves. Please be mindful while making content for the same, and exclude white authors from such book rec lists.

📚💖 Książka idealna dla książkoholiczki? To musi być „Times New Romans”! 💖📚 Czy kiedykolwiek marzyliście o romansie podczas... pisania romansu? 😍📖 No to historia Ellie i Theo jest właśnie dla Was! Julia Biel zabiera nas w świat, gdzie autor romansów i autorka kryminałów muszą razem napisać bestseller. Ale to nie wszystko! Mają udawać parę, mieszkać razem i w mediach społecznościowych wyglądać na zachwyconych i szaleńczo zakochanych! 🏡💏 Problem? 🌳✍️ 📖 Moja opinia ⬇️ Ach, od czego by tu zacząć! 😅 „Times New Romans” wciągnęło mnie od pierwszych stron. To taka miła odmiana! 🤎 #MagdasDay #TimesNewRomans #JuliaBiel #Romans #WspółpracaBarterowa #NowaKsiążka #Książkoholiczka #CzytanieZPazurem #Bookstagram #LiterackiŚwiat #BookishThoughts #Czytelnictwo #BookOpinion #KochamCzytać #ReadingJourney #BookLover #CzytamKsiążki #BookMagic #WartoPrzeczytać #BookWorm #BookishMagic #MagiczneCzytanie #LiteraryEscape #BookNook #InstaRead #CzytamWięcej #BookObsessed 📢 Współpraca barterowa z @gorzka.czekolada.wydawnictwo dziękuję! 🤍

Dlaczego trudna? Niełatwo załapać tutaj jeden wiodący wątek czy bohatera, za którym można by linearnie podążać. Opis fabuły zapowiada zgłębienie narastającego konfliktu pomiędzy synem a matką w wymyślonym przez autora kraju przypominającym trochę Argentynę a trochę Włochy. Gadda opowiada niejako obrazami i językiem. Uwielbiam te motywy, a tutaj zostały poprowadzone przyjemnie.

Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman ❄️ This was a reread as I loved this book when I was 14, and recently, I found the second and third books at a bookshop, and I knew it was time for a reread of the series. This is my super old copy that is literally falling apart that I had to fix with tape 😂 but the cover is still pretty 😍 Honestly, this book is so good, I love Pullman's writing style, and the story itself is fantastic. Lyra, a little girl living at Jordan Collage in a universe very similar to ours, goes on a journey to rescue her friend Rodger after he is mysteriously taken by a group known amongst the children of Oxford as Gobblers. Poor Lyra goes through so much, as do all the other children in the novel. It always pulls on my heartstrings 💔 This was the perfect novel to read now that it's getting so cold here in Ōtautahi. It was -6 last night! 🥶 I hope everyone is staying nice and warm! Do you have any book recommendations for cold and wintery vibes? I'd love to continue this theme, but I don't know many books like that. 📖 #booksagramnz #bookaesthetic #booklover #nothernlights #phillippullman #bookrecs #bookreview #bookopinion

I want to start by saying that I rarely DNF a book but I’ve now had two in a row! First NW, now Saltwater😢 I’ve seen so many good reviews for Saltwater so it could have been me and not the book but I just wasn’t enjoying it and half way through I had no motivation to pick it back up again. I was so excited for this after seeing the pretty cover and the synopsis which reads: When Lucy wins a place at university, she thinks London will unlock her future. It is a city alive with pop up bars, cool girls and neon lights illuminating the Thames at night. At least this is what Lucy expects, having grown up seemingly a world away in working-class Sunderland, amid legendary family stories of Irish immigrants and boarding houses, now-defunct ice rinks and an engagement ring at a fish market. Yet Lucy’s transition to a new life is more overwhelming than she ever expected. As she works long shifts to make ends meet and navigates chaotic parties from East London warehouses to South Kensington mansions, she still feels like an outsider among her fellow students. When things come to a head at her graduation, Lucy takes off for Ireland, seeking solace in her late grandfather’s cottage and the wild landscape that surrounds it, wondering if she can piece together who she really is. Lyrical and boundary-breaking, Saltwater explores the complexities of mother-daughter relationships, the challenges of shifting class identity and the way that the strongest feelings of love can be the hardest to define. This synopsis almost seemed like a backstory to a series of poetic passages rather than a plot. I wasn’t expecting this type of book, I thought there would be more of a narrative. Instead, it’s a series of paragraphs relating to Lucy’s past and childhood, her mother’s life and her grandparents’. There isn’t a flow to the story and it was quite stop-start. It reminded me of the style of Sorrow and Bliss which was another book I couldn’t get on with. It just wasn’t for me and wasn’t what I expected or wanted! #bookreview #bookblogger #bookblog #dnf #bookish #unpopularbookopinion #bookopinion #booksta #bookcommunity #booklover #bookslump #bookstagram

How Can I Help You 📚 by Laura Sims 2.75-3/5 ⭐ I had high hopes but it was just okay. There weren't any big twists or reveals, none of the characters were particularly likeable or even that bright, and it was easy to figure out the ending which wasn't all that satisfying. It just could've been a lot better but it did have a few unsettling moments. Blurb ⬇️ A razor-sharp suspense about two local librarians whose lives become dangerously intertwined. No one knows Margo’s real name. Her colleagues and patrons at a small town public library only know her middle-aged normalcy, congeniality, and charm. They have no reason to suspect that she is, in fact, a former nurse with a trail of countless premature deaths in her wake. She has turned a new page, so to speak, and the library is her sanctuary, a place to quell old urges. That is, at least, until Patricia, a recent graduate and failed novelist, joins the library staff. Patricia quickly notices Margo’s subtly sinister edge, and watches her carefully. When a patron’s death in the library bathroom gives her a hint of Margo’s mysterious past, Patricia can’t resist digging deeper—even as this new fixation becomes all-consuming. Taut and compelling, How Can I Help You explores the dark side of human nature and the dangerous pull of artistic obsession. #thrillersuspense #thrillerbooks #mysterythriller #mysterysuspense #mysterybooks #murdermystery #fiction #fictionbooks #bookreview #booksreviews📚 #bookthoughts #bookopinion #bookpeople #bookpost #booksofinstagram #booksbooksbooks #booksofig #bookobsession #readerforlife #readingaddict #feelingbookish #alwaysreading #readingwrapup #bookishlove

I got an ARC copy of this book and it took me awhile to finish... sorry... so I think it's already out! So better late than never review! * Overall I thought the story was interesting, however, it didn't take keep my interest the entire way. * The alternating pov was an interesting way to narrate the story and I liked how eventually the story merged into one once the characters came together. * The world building was a bit hard for me to keep up with and imagine at the beginning of the book. It did get easier as the story continued. * I liked the characters, however, I didn't love them or felt a connection to them which is usually what I look forward to when reading. I think I may have felt more connection to the smaller characters than the main ones. I really enjoyed Switch and Matthias character personalities. * The ending was a bit flat for me. Nothing really spectacular in my opinion. Overall, it was a good read but not really for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 #eluthien #scifi #scifibooks #fantasy #fantasybook #bookrecommendations #bookopinion #books

. . . #reseña #bookreview #reseñalibros #review #bookopinion #reseñasdelibros #reseñasliterarias #librosjuveniles #literaturajuvenil #lij #youngadultbooks #instalibros #instabooks #instabooksespaña #bookslover #bookworm #bookstagram #bookstagramespaña #bookstagrammer #bookshelf #booksandbooks #laschicasdeolimpia #raqueltirado

My short review on #theprisonersthrone! Finally got around to finishing it! *I enjoyed this book! I liked that we got to see Oak's pov this time. I also think it made Wren's character more mysterious, which I didn't mind. * I liked the turn of events at the end. It was a cute ending that gave me closure, which I appreciated! * My favorite part, however, is getting to see Carden and Jude again! I love their characters and their relationship, and to see it a few years more mature is fun to see! * Overall, it's a fun story! Over the years, fantasy trends have emerged and then faded away. We had the dystopian worlds, the vampire craze,, and now it’s the realm of the Faerie. Honestly, this is my first faerie book, and I had no clue what to expect — I was venturing Into a subgenre that would define my reading experience for years to come. There might have been more common jumping off points like ACOTAR, but I tried Holly Black’s The Cruel Prince (The Folk Of The Air Book 1). Hanna & Kazrith * My love for you, my obsession to keep you close to me, and my fear of being left alone might just overcome me when you' re gone. * Hanna is training to get her wings. She wants to make it so her father doesn't need to work as hard and get them out of poverty. The dream is crashed when she rejects her mentor. So he knocks her out and plans to sell her. Kazrith is a trader. He travels and collects things that would sell good. On his way back home, he finds an intruder in his carriage. Upon finding out about their common enemy, he suggests a fake marriage. Demon and human mates are not that frowned upon. This was a quick read. The story flows nicely. He's this rough character that is a big softie with his human mate. He's more than happy that a human woman can actually take demon co*k. Hanna is a strong human, and I wish she would play a bigger role in the end. She becomes too emotional and hasty. Especially since she's supposed to be trained. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ #book #booklover #bookstagram #bookig #bookcover #bookseries #bookaddict #bookish #bookrecommendations #loveforbooks #reader #readinaday #instabooks #igreads #bookreview #bookopinion #arc #arcreaders #booksprout #ebook #kindle. #letmereadsoyoucantoo #letmeknowwhatyouthink #romance #lovestory #hea #darkromance #lichsdesire #celesteking

NW 🧭 Zadie Smith I picked this up from my local oxfam bookshop for £1.50 and I’m glad I did because I don’t feel guilty for DNF-ing it😩 I just wasn’t enjoying the stream of consciousness, fragmented sentences and abstract writing style. I couldn’t see the plot moving on nor did I feel invested in the characters introduced at the start. After reading reviews, it seemed the story and characters didn’t have much more to offer so I cut my losses a few chapters in. I also read that White Teeth is a better introduction to Zadie Smith than NW so maybe I should have started with that! Have you read this? ⭐️ Book Review ⭐️ I see a lot of hype for this one...but it wasn't for me. Maybe it's because I've recently seen A Man called Ove, but this was pretty much the same sort of vibe. It was mostly predictable, until the one 'twist' (no spoilers here), which I felt could have pulled the book out of the 'meh' pile and made it something so much better...but nothing came of it. I feel it needed some exploration and would have added depth to this story. Nice enough, but I wouldn't recommend it. 🏰Kingdom of Ash - Review🏰 The final instalment in the Throne of Glass series is a big one! A lot happens, and at times it did feel a little drawn out, but overall I really enjoyed it. What I have loved about the second half of this series is the full circle connections to the first half of the series. The planning and brilliance of all those connecting pieces continued, and came to a head in this book - it was awesome! There was so much character growth and emotion in these pages. There’s humour and hope, and also terror and heartbreak. There’s love and loss. There’s magic and sacrifice. And above all, there is family - the chosen kind. All in all, this book is a worthy conclusion to the tale “Let’s make this fight worthy of a song” Genre: Fantasy (Upper YA) Author: Sarah J Maas Rating: 4.25⭐️ Thank you to @tays_booknook for buddy reading this series with me - I can hardly believe we did it in 4 months! And to @gabbylovestoread who got messages from us both between our stopping points lol

Spero esca presto! 🔹Il Re dei Ladri ✍️Di #CorneliaFunke 🔸Edito da Mondadori 🌸 Consigliato da @elis_in_borderland 💭 (Continua nei commenti)

📚 Books VS Films 🎬 Books are constantly been adapted and shown on the big screen, and usually the book is always better as movies will often have to cut a lot of content to make it work on the screen and sometimes they make changes to characters look that don’t fit with the picture we have in our minds of who our characters are. What do you think of the adaptions of the books pictured above? Did you prefer the books? Are there any films or to shows you thought were better than the book? 📚Book 18 of 2024📚 Title - Girl, Woman, Other Book type - Paperback Author - Bernadine Evaristo ⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sadly this book was not for me. I’m sure lots of people loved it but it just lost me! Just too many characters again! I didn’t mind a few but 12 🤦🏽‍♀️ I just got lost after a while I haven’t got much to say about this one but this is probably a very unpopular opinion and that’s fine I’m sure many people will love this one but it just wasn’t my cuppa T #bookreview #bookpost #mythoughts #readingopinion #bookopinion #readingnerd #booknerd #bookphotography #paperbackreviews #paperbackreview

If you are looking for a grumpy x sunshine where sunshine is able to change even your mood, then don’t look any further. ☀️ “Because the Baron Broods” by @darcyburkeauthor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ In this lovely story we follow a very grumpy Baron that is enchanted by a very cheerful and optimistic Tamsin. They meet at the country house party and sparks start flying 💥 I must say that this book is a definition of “grumpy x sunshine” trope. It was sweet. It was heartwarming. I highly recommend to read it and enjoy every bit of it! #bookreview #bookopinion #darcyburke #becausethebaronbroods #netgalleyreads #lovereading #historicalromance #booklover

Um Reino de Sonho por Judith McNaught Romance Histórico Isto foi um livro espetacular. Fez-me rir e sofrer.

#book #bookopinion #bookreview #romance

We Deserve Monuments 🌻 by Jas Hammonds 5/5 ⭐⚡ I knew I was going to love this and I knew it would be a tough read but I didn't expect it to make me cry like it did. There was so much emotion packed into this book- happiness, grief, heartbreak, and anger. The way Jas wrote these emotions also made me feel every single one wholeheartedly. I loved the character growth, I loved the evolving relationships, I loved the topics that were handled (racism, homophobia, generational trauma) and how they were written. Jas did a beautiful job creating this story and I can't wait to read more from them. Blurb ⬇️ What’s more important: Knowing the truth or keeping the peace? Seventeen-year-old Avery Anderson is convinced her senior year is ruined when she's uprooted from her life in DC and forced into the hostile home of her terminally ill grandmother, Mama Letty. The tension between Avery’s mom and Mama Letty makes for a frosty arrival and unearths past drama they refuse to talk about. Every time Avery tries to look deeper, she’s turned away, leaving her desperate to learn the secrets that split her family in two. While tempers flare in her avoidant family, Avery finds friendship in unexpected places: in Simone Cole, her captivating next-door neighbor, and Jade Oliver, daughter of the town’s most prominent family—whose mother’s murder remains unsolved. As the three girls grow closer—Avery and Simone’s friendship blossoming into romance—the sharp-edged opinions of their small southern town begin to hint at something insidious underneath. The racist history of Bardell, Georgia is rooted in Avery’s family in ways she can’t even imagine. With Mama Letty's health dwindling every day, Avery must decide if digging for the truth is worth toppling the delicate relationships she's built in Bardell—or if some things are better left buried. #youngadultcontemporary #youngadultbook #youngadultfiction #ireadya #queerbooks #lgbtqbooks #contemporaryfiction #bestbooks #favoritebooks #booksilove #booksofinstagram #booksbooksbooks #booksreviews📚 #bookreview #bookrecs📚 #booksuggestions #bookopinion #bookappreciation #bookpeople #bookobsessed #bookpost #booklovers #booksofig

O final compensa a angústia. . . . . . . . . . . . . . #bookreview #readersreview #bookrecommendations n #honestbookreview #bookishthoughts #reviewersofinstagram #bookopinion #bookreviewers #bookreviewblog #bookreviewcommunity #bookishreview #bookishopinion #bookreviewing #bookreviewclub #bookreviewingcommunity #bookreviewinglife #bookreviewingjourney #bookreviewingadventure #bookreviewlove #bookreviewaddict #bookreviewinspiration #bookreviewdiscussion #bookreviewchatter #bookreviewchat #bookreviewexchange #resenha #trending #livro #livros #collage

If We Were Villains - M.L. Rio - book review ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5 The book begins with Oliver Marks, released from prison after ten years, deciding to tell the truth about his story to the detective who locked him up. He talks about his group of friends, theater students at a renowned university, all of whom, like him, have a passion for Shakespeare. When one of the seven dies, it has irreversible consequences for all their lives. I couldn’t get into the story as I would have liked and I can’t really put my finger on why. Maybe I was harder on this book too because I read The Secret History not long ago, which is in the same style, but better from my point of view. I think the characters were a bit too cliché for me, with rather little depth. There were unresolved mysteries around some of their pasts that didn’t make too much sense in my opinion (spoiler-free, but I’ll happily discuss them by message). The moments when Oliver goes home to his parents during the vacations, too, just seemed to me to slow down the plot without adding any relevant elements (except perhaps distancing me emotionally from the protagonist, who is particularly loathsome with his family). Otherwise, it’s an easy read (in the good sense of it). I particularly like dark academia, and the fact that it’s set in the world of theater really appealed to me. The influence of the plays on the characters and their relationships with each other is what I liked best about the book. I’d still recommend it if you’re in the mood for some university and mystery vibes. Have you read it ? What did you think of it ?

I want to eat your pancreas 💓 review. the short. writing: 4.5✨ plot: 4.5✨ characters: 4.75✨ originality: 4✨ overall: 4,75✨ aka a 5✨ read the long. {PT} Hello hello! Demorei algum tempo a escrever a review, até porque me demorou alguns dias a digerir a história. A few days ago I finished this Japanese novel, which has already been adapted for manga and anime. It took time to write this review, especially because it took me a few days to digest the story. The truth is that it’s been a while since I got attached to characters like Sakura and our narrator. Saying goodbye to both of them was difficult and I cried my eyes out in the last pages. Despite not wanting to reveal too much about the plot, it is aimed at people who love a good love tragedy that involves tissue paper right next to the book. It’s a sweet story that explores different human experiences and the impact we can have on each other. Out There 🛸 by Seaerra Miller 3.75/5 ⭐ This was a sweet and relatable story about a girl who's parents divorced after a situation that was irreconcilable (not the abducted by aliens part but in general) and getting on after everything happened and wanting your parents to be right and be who you think they are. Personally, couldn't stand the dad. He was so spacey and genuinely only seemed to care about the aliens more than his daughter and that was frustrating. This was still a cute little story and I loved how Julia and her dad made up at the end. Blurb ⬇️ A touching, out-of-this-world graphic novel about a daughter, her father, and the aliens that may or may not be speaking to him. Julia didn’t always believe in aliens. It was her father who convinced her otherwise. You see—Julia’s dad believes he was abducted by aliens. And ever since then, he’s been obsessed with the extraterrestrial beings living out there. So when a festival commemorating the 75th anniversary of the infamous UFO crash in New Mexico rolls around, Julia turns down a dream vacation to Hawaii with her best friend, Sara, to join her dad for a weekend trip to Roswell, where he expects the aliens to make contact. But amid the alien-themed goofiness of the festival, Julia finds she isn’t sure whether her father really did get abducted. His memories of alien interference are starting to sound increasingly shaky, and with them, her faith in him. Will this weekend bring the two closer together or only drive them apart? A heartfelt story of family, loyalty, and the lengths we go to support those we love. #graphicnovel #graphicnovels #middlegradebookstagram #middlegradestories #comics #middlegradeauthor #middlegradereads #middlegradebooks #alienbooks #booksilove #goodbooks #bookreview #bookreviews #bookrecs #bookthoughts #booksuggestions #bookopinion #booklovers #bookpost #bookpeople #bookishthoughts #bookpick #alwaysreading #feelingbookish #booksofinstagram #bookobsessed #readmorebooks #readerforlife

Happy Place - Emily Henry ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Well that’s it. I get the EH love now. This book was so hyped up and after reading Funny Story I didn’t expect it to live up to the hype. In all honesty, I spent at least the first 50% confused and now sure how I felt. Confused because I needed to know what was going on and where the book was headed - it easily could have gone a direction that would have made me hate it. But sometime after that 50% as things start to come to light, reasons for characters actions, past events…it clicked. I found myself getting emotional over things that may seem small to others, but really hit home with me. If I had to guess, that’s the appeal of Emily Henry. When she hits home with you she REALLY hits home. Happy Place tells the story of Harriet and her five best friends - with Cleo and Sabrina at the root. The romance is between her and her ex-fiance Wyn, who are pretending to stay together for the sake of their friend-cation. The characters were so real. My sister said normally it’s the MC who annoys her but in this case it was Wyn, and I agree. Harriet didn’t annoy me, and Wyn did - but I’d forgiven him by the end. The development of the characters was believable and heartwarming. How each one came from a different background, and how it impacted their reactions to things made a lot of sense. At one point pottery is used as a metaphor for life and the changes you go through and 🥺😮‍💨 it was just beautiful. Im glad I waited until this year to read it because I would have been an absolute wreck if I’d read it while pregnant 😂 QOTD: What’s your happy place? Je me nomme Siaolanh Yang.

I was hoping to squeeze out one more but looks like I’ll just have my first May book by the end of today. Meanwhile, I’m not unhappy with 8 books!! It was a broad spectrum of enjoyment, with 3 five star books and 3 TWO star books! I do 2 stars so rarely that’s just wild to me. **Please note, I gave Wake Me Most Wickedly a 3 star on here, but for me personally it was a 2. It’s hard to pick a favorite for the month. It’s definitely between Just For the Summer and Murder Road, and that’s comparing apples to oranges! But I think I’m going with Murder Road, because if hard pressed I think I’d be able to complain less about it 🤔 also it’s refreshing to actually enjoy a thriller because they’ve been such duds for me lately! Whereas romance has been great. I only read 1 physical book 🤦‍♀️ so like I’ve said, May that’s where my focus will be. That was a fantastic read. If you look at this story as a tragic love story in the making then you will have a really good time. And the ending still surprised me. I really recommend this book! #thrillerbooks #bookrecommendation #bookrecs #bookopinion #bookreview #bookstagrammer
