We will continue breaking down this relief, a treasure trove of information on the Gallae, but weโre beginning with the material items used in Kybeleโs temple. The tools of the trade depicted above include: - Cymbals, tympanon, and double Phrygian flute: These instruments were used to create the loud, joyous music characteristic of Kybeleโs temple and worship - Aspergillum: This tool is used for sprinkling cleansing waters for ritual purification. The Gallaeโs aspergillum is made of leafy herbal branches that hold water well for sprinkling purposes - Cult items purse: This purse was used to hold and carry the material goods of their temple in style. It was cylindrical, with a cone-shaped cape, braided details, and a carrying strap - Offering bowl: In one hand, the priestex holds a bowl of offerings. The majority of these are almonds, which are an important symbol in the myths of Kybele and Attis, her consort. Closer inspection shows what seems to be a pinecone sitting in the back of the bowl as well. Severe mother wound transcending from grandmother. ๐ As a result, brow beating herself constantly, putting up a brave front and not sharing her emotions, being tough all the time and not letting the masculine energy release and balance, always helicoptering her and others life leaving no room for failure, not experiencing joy in anyway. Stopped off in Weston, Mass on the way back from a rare day in the office. Found the headstone and footstone for John Livermore (1638-1719), a 10th great-grandfather through my maternal line. Iโve also found and visited headstones for both his parents: his father is buried in Watertown, Mass and his mother is in Chelmsford. The stones in Farmers Burial Ground are in really good shape. It includes antibacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredients to help speed healing: oregano, rosemary, lemon, onion, and lots of garlic. Chicken and veggies like carrots, celery, and spinach are boiled together before being finished with pasta and a side of good crusty bread to give your body the (delicious) nutrition needed to fuel the healing process. The hot broth soothes the throat and provides both warmth and comfort to help heal. Disir folk magic candle sticks, coming soon ๐ฏ The Disir are a group of female ancestral spirits from Norse folk practices. Altars were crafted in their name, known as disarsalr, and their holiday was the Disablot, usually celebrated in winter. To us, they are keepers of the ancestral wisdom of the home, hearth, and the magic worked there. They are year-round guardians, but especially potent in the winter, when it becomes necessary to hunker down in the home. These candlesticks sung to us of the Disir immediately. They are made in blue and white ceramic, colors seen worldwide in ceramic folk art. Some happy snaps from our Trip to Tasmania. Started my Selbu Cowl by @skeindeer Had to frog it all back and start over but this is how far I got in the week. Absolutely love the colour combination and the fact that this is stash yarn (I wanted to see the colours first before buying a sweater quantity). It was nice to slow down and have nature set our rhythm. Days were all about getting outside, slowing down and appreciating the beautiful world we live in. I also came home with some souvenir yarn.
