• My Hoya maybe-macrophylla. • Purchased 4 July 2022 using Cornelius Garden Center 30% off holiday coupon! . • Darn slow grower compared to the other hoya. I haven't done enough reading on the various varieties to learn their characteristics, so this one is on me not setting expectations. . • Potted immediately after purchase into 3.5x3-inch repurposed plastic cup in Lechuza Pon with about 5% vermiculite, in a self-watering pot as an experiment. Same substrate image as my previous post of the Hoya crimson queen. • Slide 4: How a new, emerging leaf looks! • Slide 5: Never thought this runner would produce a leaf, it would just hang around getting in the way. 🙄 • Slide 6: 22 March 2023, my poor hoya decided to do a half gainer when its sparsely-leafing runner got tangled up when I was trying to move the other hoya. 🙃 I can be a real klutz! 🫠 • It had finally grown a new leaf, but it had not hardened off and got whacked during the owner-inflicted trauma 🥲. Two other pots got whacked also. One was a new propagation, the other lost leaves. • Repotted on 5 May 2024. Added a little more organic material and an official trellis. The runners are crazy out of control! • Light: East-facing window with parchment paper screen for heat mitigation. . • ⛈️ Received an update on my balcony plants. My building maintenance guy was kind enough to check and re-scoop the plants that needed it. All the pots got laid over, but at least they didn't fly away like previously. I think one community pot looks like the plants went for a tumble as the roots had not meshed enough to keep everything as a single rootball. Lettuce (Freckled and Red Cos) are looking great. Plus rainbow silverbeet. And a few spring onions. It's peak season for leafy greens. They are much happier growing in the cooler months. Their delicate leaves struggle in the heat of summer, particularly loose-head lettuce. Silverbeet and spinach. What can you use them in? I have a constant supply in the freezer to add to stews, casseroles, curries, dals to name just a few. Fry/blanch the leaves then roughly process. Put them in zip lock bags and squeeze out as much air and flatten them for easy storage in the freezer.

This is the 5th bed of brassicas so far. All of the plants were taken from another bed when I thinned the plants. Broccoli, purple cauliflower and purple bok choy. A quick stroll around the vegie patch on the weekend and I'm thinking the next few months will be dominated by stir-frys and curries. GRANDE YDRA FIORE E’ parte della collezione I grandi Ydra vasi con idroriserva, composta da tre elementi: Quadro, Cono e Fiore, quest’ultimo ha cinque petali esterni al vaso leggermente inclinati che disegnano le riserve d’acqua. Grazie alla porosità della terracotta a poro aperto viene rilasciato progressivamente alla pianta il giusto grado di umidità. La collezione “i grandi Ydra” in terracotta dell’Impruneta disegnati dallo studio @sabrina_sguanci_baroni, sono una versione macro della prima collezione Ydra. Appositamente progettata per la storica Fornace @poggiugoterrecotte “La collezione, nel suo insieme, racconta, declinando diverse forme morfologiche, le riserve d’acqua: ed ecco vasi iconici e funzionali, quasi dei manifesti, che vogliono tutelare le specie vegetali provate dai cambiamenti climatici puntando sulla dimensione, su un’economia delle risorse, ai microclimi, a irrigazioni controllate e alla porosità /proprietà di resistenza agli agenti atmosferici della terracotta dell’ Impruneta. @vegtrug all planted up now with plug plants from @melbicksgardencentre I have planted red and yellow beetroot, purple pak Choi and some mini red iceberg lettuce along with a mix of marigolds. I have the self watering 1m vegtrug so hopefully that will help me while I’m working and away a lot of the weekends.
