I got this adorable Hoya Bella albomarginata from @camerons.jungle, and I couldn’t be happier! 💚I love updates like this!💚 I repotted my sister’s 30-year old golden pothos back in February. This was a big chop & prop ✂️ and all we really did was put the rooted plant back into the pot and added cuttings to a jar of water. We never added any of the cuttings back into the pot and look at all that new growth! We went with potting soil with added perlite and orchid bark for this one. The perfect simply combo for most houseplants. 🪴A lot of people are intimidated with the repot process but it always pays off! Repotting every few years at a minimum is so important because plants use up the nutrients in the soil. Fresh soil = more nutrients for growth. It also helps keep the soil from being too compacted which keeps air flowing. Plant of the day: Sansiveria cylindrica Look at this beauty🌱 I got it recently gifted and couldn’t be happier. It looks so elegant and minimalistic to me adding charm to my plant collection. Besides guys, look at its roots🫣. It was almost breaking the small plastic pot I got it in! And the little baby comping up 😆, I got so lucky 🍀 Native to Angola and other West African countries it is really easy to take care of since it demands little water and not much light making it perfect for beginner plant parents. As a matter of fact, it can survive 30 days without light and water!! ☀️: They prefer bright, indirect light but can tolerate low light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves 💧: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so it’s better to underwater than overwater. In winter, reduce watering frequency 🌱: Use a well-draining potting mix. A cactus or succulent mix works well for me 🌡️: They prefer temperatures between 16-29°C ( 60-85°F ). Avoid exposing them to temperatures below 10°C (50°F) for prolonged periods 🌫️: They are adaptable to normal household humidity levels. However, they can tolerate low humidity environments 🪴: Repot when the plant becomes rootbound, usually every 2-3 years. Spring is the best time for repotting 🐛: Snake plants are relatively resistant to pests and diseases. A few weeks ago I almost killed this beautiful philodendron while repotting 🙈. It was still in its first pot from the nursery and when I took it out, I discovered that 3 other tiny propagating plastic pots were still hanging from the roots. Of course I had to free him from this nightmare 😭. But it turned out to be a bit more complicated than I thought, because the roots were tightly wrapped around the plastic. One wrong move and I had my philo in my left hand and the 2/3 of the root ball in my right 😮.
