In the light of a new day, Raven beheld a beautiful majestic white stag. She was mesmerized. A rare sighting indeed. What a gift to behold! The stag spoke… “Allow the magick of who you are to be seen by the eyes you keep. You are enough, my dear; take ease in receiving. Don’t question your worth. You are more than enough just as you are. Everything looks so different at night. They came to an impasse. Which way to go? Turning right, Raven almost lost her footing as she stumbled upon a bed of river rocks. “Well here we are Luna, we found the river.” Standing by the river was so peaceful. There was something about just being in the moment. Raven picked up a river rock and tossed it in the water. Would the rock be upset that it landed in the bottom of the river? Well the rock really doesn’t have much choice in the matter now does it? The water washes the rocks along the banks according to the flow of the current. And, it was in this moment that Raven realized there wasn’t much she could do about her current situation. The sun will come out eventually and melt all the snow all in its good time. She had already done the major work when she changed up her altar in preparation for Imbolc. However, after last night’s paranormal experience, she wasn’t taking any chances. She didn’t want to be up all night again with another nightmare. Raven grounded up her Frankincense & Myrrh resin with her mortar & pestle and added just a touch of grounded Amber resin for some added sweetness. Then she lit a charcoal with a tong, placed it in the cauldron, and sprinkled the incense in. She took the cauldron by the handle and walk into every room of her house, including all the corners, nooks, and crannies. Allowing the fragrance to permeate throughout. Ah the smell immediately lifted her spirits!!! Then she sat down, stared into the smoke, scrying to reveal the truth, clearing the haze while lifting the fog. It was in this “Ah Ha!” moment that Raven became more aware of what was really worth her energy. She wasn’t going to cave-in to worrisome thoughts. The truth was if she didn’t acquiesce to situations that went against her moral standards and values, but rather always lived by her own integrity, she would have nothing to fear. So Raven called back her own power. She couldn’t quite explain it, but she was screaming in her sleep, yet the screams were inaudible. She felt someone was choking her. What preceded this was the sound of a door opening, then footsteps coming her way. Drifting in and out of sleep to awaken like this was a nightmare, or was it real? Raven didn’t believe in ghosts, but this unexplained paranormal experience left her bewildered. What to do? She looked in her Grimoire and found what she was looking for. A ritual protection bath. A half a cup of blackberries, 1 tablespoon dried raspberry, 1 sliced fresh orange, and 1 red candle. She lit the candle, turned off the lights and soaked for about 15-minutes allowing the fragrance to clear her senses. In more grounded practical terms, Raven reasoned that she would have to be more mindful of her thoughts, as well as who she associated with, whether that be on-line or in person. Yes there was a natural give and take in life, but she would have to be more cautious; more balanced in whom she gave her attention to. I had an incredible Imbolc-Birthday getaway. I got to stay in the round rock house right on the ocean I’ve always wanted to stay in. We had a big dramatic fire and a ceremonial fire under clear night skies filled with millions of stars to celebrate Imbolc, Brigid, and my birthday. We saw the prettiest sunset I’ve seen in a while the night of my birthday. I satiated my inner Gollum with rock treasures found along the sandy beach. The before and after cold dip yesterday. We were really excited that the river conditions allowed us to dip after our Imbolc yoga session at @camp_plas This was a very special session with some really wonderful energy and connection. As Imbolc is the halfway point between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox, we were reflecting on the past 6ish weeks - the glimmers and the challenges - and seeing what seeds we want to grow for the next 4-6 weeks. At the top of the list during the reflection for many was a better self care routine. It's really great to recognise this and to put small actions on how you wish to do it. It could be as small as enjoying a cup of tea in peace every day 💜 It's also great to write your reflection or intention down or voice it out loud to hold yourself accountable for it. I spent yesterday afternoon at the @bristolgoddesstemple to celebrate Imbolc and Brigid with other like-minded folks, led by the wonderful @lady_faye_morgana (credit to her for the first photo of the altar) - it's the first time I've been to such a gathering and it was honestly a wonderful experience. The balance between spiritual and secular was struck perfectly, and it was an amazing thing to be able to enjoy my spiritual practice without feeling any cognitive dissonance from my rational brain. The guided meditation she took us through was so joyful and felt so natural, and I knew immediately the colours I'd use for crafting my intention charm. After a slower and deliberate start of weaving the threads of my intentions together and focusing on specific types of actions, I was able to pick up the pace and weave motivation and progressive energies into the charm, which I finished last night. I feel motivated and energised, ready to take on the year ahead as we move into lighter days - and honestly, a little bit of my soul healed yesterday. I had an incredible morning creating sound, humming, meditating and chanting with the incredible Michele from MAs Yoga. This is my second collaboration with Michele, she’s amazing to work with and I will be forever blessed working with her throughout this year. Today, we spent 2.5 hours with 15 beautiful souls, weaving sound through mantras and humming, creating a vocal and sound symphony. Today’s session embraced the spirit of Imbolc, joyfully welcoming the arrival of spring and celebrating the essence of fertility, creativity, and art. Together, we paid heartfelt tribute to the radiant Goddess Bridget, weaving a tapestry of sound, mantras, and humming that resonated through the air. It was all part of the ritual. She was really enjoying her day off. She ran the bath water, poured her special lavender rose oil mixture, lit tons of candles, and emerged herself in the water. Ahhh, this feels so good. “Alexa, play some Imbolc music.” Looking out of her huge glass-paned window, Raven saw the first flickers of snow. “Yeah,” she exclaimed, “we’re not out of the woods yet, I love snow.” As she was relaxing in the tub, Raven felt the Gods/Goddesses were peering down from the heavens looking down upon her. She felt protected. She would be guided. However, there was one more thing she needed to do to bring sure success. That was her special spell from her own book of Grimorie’s. It was a chant. It wasn’t anything fancy, she only needed to say the words out loud. “I wash away anything that is preventing me from experiencing healing in my life. Help me to confront the past challenges of my life so I can open up more space, which will allow more joy, abundance and love.” Raven repeated this chant three times. Brigid's Cross 🤍🌱 Yesterday, for Imbolc, I made Brigid's cross out of rushes. Traditionally, they are hung by the door and around the home to protect the house from fire and evil. However, I've used mine to update the seasonal display, which is themed around early spring and Imbolc. There have been a couple of other subtle changes to the display, which you may be able to spot as well. Another entry to the #babipurchallenge prompt of 'Hello February'. Many of the items shown here are stocked at @babipur, including the Grimm's celebration ring and natural rainbow, as well as the Grapat perpetual calendar and some of the other loose parts. I feel like it would be quite nice to keep updating the ring every day as the month goes on (more than just the date), but it'll probably not end up happening that way! We celebrated Imbolc at Climbing Rose Cottage last night with friends over a candlelit dinner of spiced oyster mushroom & spinach soup, Einkorn sourdough bread, & roasted broccoli. The oyster mushrooms were grown in our own garden, & I served the soup with fresh homemade yoghurt to taste. I let the sourdough cold proof in the fridge overnight this time - it was for convenience & timing, but it made a great difference in the flavor & added that extra sour kick that's part of what makes sourdough so wonderful. I might have to use that technique more often! In a stroke of divine timing, my aunt & grandmother had come by to bring me a whole bunch of beautiful Royal Doulton china (covered in roses, of course) just the day before. It had belonged to one of my other aunts, who passed away not too long ago. I guess everyone else in the family had enough china, but I thought this pattern was absolutely gorgeous, & of course perfect for Climbing Rose Cottage, & perfect for inviting the return of spring over Imbolc dinner! I'm incredibly grateful to have been able to put together such a beautiful & delicious celebration! I owe a debt of gratitude to @earth_angel_abigail & @samthefungi for donating the oyster mushroom mycelium blocks to my rose bed for my birthday; to the week of rain we had perfectly timed for them to fruit; to my wonderful family for this beautiful home & gorgeous china; to my husband @peacefoxmusic for putting up all 72 pieces of art on the dining room gallery wall; to Young Living for growing delicious & nutritious Einkorn flour; to @staceyblooms21 for sending me some of her sourdough starter last year; & to @passionsandpotions @theoilytechnician and @wilddasie for granting us the pleasure of their delightful company - and for the beeswax candles! Imbolc A festival that marks the coming of spring and the return of the sun. In all honesty, yesterday was ‘one of those days’ too many thoughts flying around my head and feeling a bit bleurgh so I’m posting this a day later than I wanted to, but… life, children, husbands (thank God it’s only one actually!) are a thing. I found a small window of time though and indulged myself in rearranging my bureau. A beeswax candle & yellow strawflowers to represent the returning strength of the sun and chamomile and lavender bath salts to represent cleansing and renewal. A small sanctuary in an otherwise chaotic house. It's helped me focus on brighter days to come. Signs of spring are brewing outside too. Catkins dangling from the branches, snowdrops raising their delicate blooms above the earth. No wild garlic here yet, but plenty of foragers in other areas of the UK have spotted young shoots. Returning home to a parcel from Trina @in_the_foragers_garden raised my spirits too. Hope you enjoyed Imbolc today and celebrated the Celtic goddess Brigid, goddess of fire, poetry, milk and healing. The dark is beginning to be filled with light from the long winters night. It is the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. Light those candles as you set those intentions, sharing them out loud for the Universe to hear. There is still time. Do take the time to honor Brigid as we usher in this coming Spring filled with welcomed new beginnings and growth. Brigid is my favorite Goddess along with Sekhmet and Santa Muerte. For little insight into the lovely Brigid she is the Celtic Triple Goddess known as keeper of the sacred fire. Her name means “exalted one.” Sometimes she is referred to as a “bride.” Brigid is the Goddess of poets, blacksmiths, brides and childbirth. She is known to "watch over the hearth", she is fire, fertility, creativity, healing. What is a triple Goddess Anastasia? Well, that means she represents the three aspects of the divine feminine. You know, those three stages of a woman’s life maiden, mother, and wise woman – all in one. Her special qualities are/is the empowerment/empowering of self-expression bringing new ideas into the world and giving them life. In honoring and evoking her a candle is lit in her honor for 19 days and it was said on the 20th the goddess appeared. So light those candles and visualize that whatever you are trying to create or manifest. Say out loud this affirmation along with required words of what you are creating, manifesting adding at the end of that: “Inspiration fills me.
