A bit of fun with my metal embossing and Celtic knotwork, with added colour using both acrylic and alcohol ink pens. Swipe through to see the process from drawing to finished piece. I didn't have the deep red I wanted in the alcohol pens, but thankfully they blend so well I was able to create the colour by blending a light blue and strong red directly on the metal.

These Godmask stones in the first image are so unbelievably cool, and if I didn't have £8k to invest in my Hávamál book, I'd absolutely be buying some 😁 I mentioned in the last two posts that I'm very intent on collaborating with this phenomenal craftsman - @stonemadcrafts, and that intention extends far beyond just one art. It's part of the entire purpose of this page. I sincerely want to connect with as many artists, craftsmen and influential figures in this community as I can possibly find. I am absolutely in love with the work that @stonemadcrafts does, and here are some examples of his stone carvings with a variety of Nordic and Celtic art motifs 🙌🏻 I think what I really like about this kind of craft is the imperfection. I myself am a digital artist, and with my technological proficiency, it's very easy for me to create artworks that have clean, perfectly formed lines and symmetry. That being said, there is no Cmd+Z / Ctrl+Z on a piece of stone. If you carve an uneven line, your design is now uneven. I think there's a genuine beauty in that though. I don't think I'd want one of his carved stones if it was perfect in every way. The imperfections are what make these artworks feel so real, and the same goes for Viking-age runestones. With the ancient runestones, you see many examples of the runic text being perfectly spaced at the start of the phrase, and then crammed together at the end because the carver has realised that there isn't enough space left 😅 It's an 'ah shit, well there's nothing I can do about it now' kind of realisation.
