I’ve never said yes to a project faster than I did to conditionofreturn - that was because I didn’t want to do this film. There have been two days in my entire 22 year long career that I didn’t want to show up for work, one of those days was on this film. I am a gun owner, I’ve played a lot of characters who wield every version of metal weaponry, but I can’t depict the level of dread I felt portraying what my character does in this film. AND IT’S NOT REAL. I’M ACTING. I kept telling myself that, but it didn’t make it feel any different. I said “yes” to this film BECAUSE I didn’t want this film to exist. I didn’t want it to be relevant. I believe in the Constitution of the United States of America 🇺🇸. I support it. I know precisely why our forefathers fought so hard to provide us with every amendment as written. I hope we choose to honor them when we hold the machinery our world is capable of building today. This world is confusing and scary. It’s polarized and instead of being able to hold two thoughts in mind, there is a need to paint opposers as evil. I don’t see things that way. Perhaps, because I’ve seen too much. My mental health journey is ultimately why this film is so important to me. I hope we can stop saying “no guns” “more guns”. I hope we can use our brilliant minds to adapt to a solution-based approach regarding guns and all of the other divisive topics that need evolution over revolution. I am only one. I know that. Set within the highlands of the mountainous Bedugul Regency in Bali, atop a plateau that sits on Lake Beratan, stands the majestic Ulun Danu Temple. In the soft, mountain weather, approximately 1,500 meters above sea level, the air is crisp and cool. The stunningly clear lake is calm and almost perfectly still. A thin mist rises from the lake and hangs in the air, surrounding the temple, giving it a somewhat surreal appearance. Pura Ulun Danu was built in adoration of the Goddess Danu. Danu, in the Balinese tongue, means lake, while the goddess Danu is goddess of water, lakes and rivers. The temple complex consists of four sacred buildings. Linga Pura stands three levels high, and is a place of worship to the god Shiva. Pura Puncak Mangu stands 11 levels high, and was built in dedication to the god Vishnu. The mountain in which the temple sits on is known as the holy mountain. The lake was once the biggest in Bali until it was split into 3, Beratan, Buyan and Tamblingan. Beratan comes from the word Brata which means to conduct ones self to fill the 9 primary needs in life. “ Tapa Brata” is to meditate and be united with nature. Lake Beratan became the realm of the Goddess. Although the grounds are open to the public the temple itself is closed and only used for ceremonies for the Balinese people. Life happens most serendipitous way as all of life does when you are in flow. We came dressed for ceremony no knowing that the temple was closed to the public, but luck had other plans as we were invited to sit with the priest and receive and private invocation while at the temple of the lake. The journey of the Goddess is not one that came be made up, but lived through pure embodiment. While I was back home last month after wrapping up what felt like the darkest time in my life (i know, i know, ive had many) which I have now learned to see it was actually the end of the greatest awakening one can have. The Dark Knight of the Soul they call it. Only those that have gone through it will know what Im talking about. My dad is a man of few words and he doesnt talk about his feelings like all men from his era. I dont talk to him much about what goes on in my head but hes aware of everything. Every time I leave and he drops me off at the airport I give him a hug and it brings tears to my eyes because I love and appreciate him so much. This last time especially he knew I was going through something and all he said was “youre doing good.” I broke down and bawled and that was all I needed to hear from him. Its not fathers day, thats next month or some shit, I think holidays are dumb. I just appreciate and love my dad and I was scrolling through photos and thought about this and feeling grateful to be where I am today because its exactly where im supposed to be. #5d #5dconsciousness #newearth
