Książka ta jest debiutem literackim Jamesa Goulda-Bourna po odbyciu półrocznego kursu pisania kreatywnego, więc nie jest idealna. Ale jaką frajdą było ją przeczytać! Szczerze mówiąc opis nastawił mnie na zupełnie inną historię: bardziej poważną, smutną, opierającym się na trudnym wydarzeniu, jakim dla Danny’ego Malooley’a jest śmierć w wypadku samochodowym jego ukochanej żony Liz. Syn pary, Will, przestał się odzywać. Minął już rok od tych zdarzeń, ale nadal jedenastolatek milczy i coraz bardziej oddala się od ojca, który nie radzi sobie z życiem bez swojej drugiej połowy. Danny nie jest w stanie płacić na czas rachunków, właściciel wynajmowanego mieszkania podnosi mu czynsz i grożąc pobiciem, wyznacza mu ostateczną datę spłaty. Na domiar złego mężczyzna traci pracę i nie może znaleźć innej. Zagubiony w tej pętli problemów postanawia, że zarobi jako… tańcząca na ulicy panda. Z uwagi na pętlę wypadków, ratuje swego syna przed szkolnymi zbirami i w ten sposób Will otwiera się przed nieznajomym, bo ten go słucha, nie ocenia, traktuje jak równego sobie rozmówcę. To zupełnie inaczej, niż w relacji z jego ojcem, gdzie pogrążony we własnym smutku i problemach, próbuje przekonać syna do interakcji. Moim zdaniem w powieści autor umiejętnie wymieszał wątki obyczajowe z komediowymi (w iście angielskim stylu), sprawiając, że lektura przyniosła mi dużo zabawy (dosłownie wyobrażałam sobie sceny w stylu dobrego filmu Guy'a Ritchie) oraz poprawiła mi nastrój w trudne dni. Zacznę najpierw od tego, jak jestem zachwycona wydaniem „Stuck with you”. Śliczna okładka, pierwsze strony rozdziałów, wklejka w środku, to wszystko powoduje, że książka prezentuje się przepięknie na żywo. „Stuck with you” to kolejna jednotomówka spod pióra Agaty Polte, która skradła całe moje serce. Podczas jej czytania świetnie się bawiłam, a już po 50 stronach książki wiedziałam, że będzie ona jedną z moich ulubionych tego roku. Motywy, jakie tu znajdziecie to hate-love, fake dating, sąsiedzi, on zakochuje się pierwszy, różnica wieku, grumpy x sunshine oraz slow burn. Historia Camille i Tannera oczarowała mnie od pierwszych stron, a im dalej się w nią zagłębiałam, tym jeszcze bardziej przepadłam do niej bezpowrotnie. Zasługą tego była intrygująca fabuła, która nie pozwalała na oderwanie się od lektury. Bohaterowie zostali bardzo ciekawie wykreowani. Camille Daisy Harford to dwudziestojednoletnia piękna, wesoła, zabawna, gadatliwa, spontaniczna, trochę niezdarna studentka dziennikarstwa. Bohaterka, z którą w pewnym stopniu się utożsamiam, a jej camitok UWIELBIAM, nie raz dostarczał on dawki dobrego humoru. Za to Tanner Allard, to dwudziestodziewięcioletni bardzo przystojny, arogancki gbur, który nie jest zbyt otwartą osobą, w dodatku jest nowym sąsiadem Camille. Tanner to mój kolejny książkowy mąż, zawładną on moim świtem przez to jak traktował Camille oraz tym jak nazywał ją uwaga… „stokrotką”. Za każdym razem jak tak się do niej zwracał miałam motyle w brzuchu. Ich pierwsze wspólne spotkanie w windzie nie należy do udanych, ale to zapoczątkowuje coś, przez co czytelnik pragnie dalej zagłębić się w dalszą część ich historii. Oczywiście emocji nie brakuje, towarzyszą one od początku do końca. Były momenty, gdzie uśmiech nie schodził z twarzy i takie podczas których łezka pojawiła się oku. W książce zostało pięknie ukazane, że nie musimy się podporządkowywać do czyimś zasadom, tylko tworzyć własne i to powoduje, że SWY zostanie w mojej pamięci na długo. CD w komentarzu⬇️

Gdy sięgałam po tę powieść, wiedziałam tylko, że jest to historia kobiety, która nie chce mieć dzieci. Nie spodziewałam się jednak tego co otrzymałam. Linn Stromsborg stworzyła (moim zdaniem) uniwersalny obraz życia kobiety, który dla większości z nas (chociażby z uwagi na biologiczne możliwości naszego ciała) nierozerwalnie związany jest z posiadaniem dzieci, z chęcią ich płodzenia i wychowywania z całym wachlarzem plusów i minusów, które temu procesowi towarzyszą. Niesamowite, że kobieta, która podejmuje decyzję odnośnie tego, że po prostu nie chce zostać matką spotyka się z taką masą twierdzeń, dobrych rad i innych takich. Mimo że o to nie pyta. Mimo że ich nie potrzebuje. Zupełnie jakby nie była w pełni dorosłą, mogącą podejmować decyzje osobą. Jej postanowieni nie wynika z tego, że tychże dzieci bądź ich matek nie lubi. Wręcz przeciwnie – spełnia się jako oddana przyjaciółka i ciocia. Takie przebywanie z dziećmi w pełni jej wystarcza. Chce cieszyć się życiem i dzielić je z osobami, które kocha. W powieści występuje kilka różnych przedstawień matek – taką, która musi odnaleźć się w tej nowej roli, matkę oddaną swojemu dziecku, kochającą je z całego serca mimo jego wyborów oraz matkę, która nawet nie stara się stwarzać pozorów tego, że interesuje ją pełnienie tej funkcji. To też obrazuje naszej bohaterce wartość macierzyństwa, pozwala zapoznać się z jego blaskami i cieniami, jak matka oddziałuje na dziecko i jak istotna jest ta realacja. Docenia je, ale po prostu nie chce być jedną z nich. Bo tak naprawdę wszystko zależy od naszych decyzji, które podejmiemy szczerze po przemyśleniu wszelkich za i przeciw, w zgodzie z samym sobą. Nie jesteśmy bowiem nieświadome tego, do czego prowadzi taka decyzja. An Aspiring Writer’s Journal ✍️📚 While I’d love to talk about books, do reviews, and lose myself in a great story today, it feels impossible. I’ve made a big decision related to my job—not as a writer, but as a marketer in a company. It’s risky, but when making this choice, I remembered why I started writing. My emotions are all over the place, but I know my two main characters would be proud of me. I created them to be strong-willed, incredible characters, unafraid of taking risks. Today, I did the same, hoping Seren (The Crimson Snow) and Cassie (Darkland) are cheering me on. In other news, I received amazing feedback from my editor, which I’m thrilled to share (check my latest post). I’ve been working tirelessly, writing and outlining, and I don’t regret the sleepless nights knowing my books—pieces of my heart—are touching others. Today marks the beginning of a new adventure. I’m excited to see my books come to life, little by little. And these are just the demo covers—I can’t wait to show you the REAL printed ones! Today was a win, despite the tears. Change is hard, and I’ve cried after each call, but it drives me to keep writing and get my books ready for you all soon. I can’t wait to share more about my stories. So today, I celebrate being brave enough to take a risk, make a life change, and pursue my passion for writing. O livro é de fácil leitura, embora contenha diversas referências a obras, escritores, filósofos e artistas que muitos desconhecem. Nesta leitura pude aprender mais vivamente sobre a ideologia dos samurais, concordando com alguns fatores. Outros, fizeram-me pensar que talvez não quisesse ser um samurai. Bonjour Instagram 😁 j'aimerais vous parler des tomes 4 et 5 de Princesse puncheuse, une série qui met en scène une princesse qui n'hésite pas d'user de ses poings pour défendre ce en quoi elle croit. Il ne faut pas non plus trop l'énerver. Je ne savais pas où cette histoire allait nous amener, j'ai donc été surprise par la tournure des événements. Surtout ceux du tome 5. Je ne vais pas vous spoiler mais sachez que ce manga est très dynamique. L'action est toujours au rendez-vous et les intrigues de la cour sont nombreuses. Quand la Sainte de ce monde a perdu ses pouvoirs, c'est tout le pays qui est menacé. Heureusement que Scarlett est là pour que le chaos ne soit pas total. Les batailles font également parti du paysage et les démons dont on a déjà entendu parler. En bref, on ne s'ennuie pas dans ces suites. Scarlett est une héroïne qui porte littéralement le récit. Elle est très attachante. J'admire sa force et son charisme. Je suis curieuse de voir comment ses pouvoirs vont se développer, ainsi (et surtout) si elle aura droit à une romance. Le tout est graphiquement très beau et j'ai beaucoup aimé l'univers épique et bourré d'action et de trahisons du titre. Avez-vous envie de lire ce manga ? Rho was his perfect match, she is sunshine, and grief, and strength, and hope. She has so much goodness and light in her, in spite of all her heartache, that it pierced right through Ansons darkness. These two MCs saw each other and understood one another in the loveliest way. I had the biggest grin on my face as I read about them falling in love! Jest ona jednotomową historią należąca do serii Arkansas oraz spin – offem „We’re Just Friends” i „Pana Westa". Motywy, których możecie się tutaj spodziewać, new adult (16+), enemies to lovers, on zakochuje się pierwszy, zemsta, tajemnice i nielegalne wyścigi. Pomysł na fabułę przypadł mi do gustu. W tej pozycji to nie romans gra główną role, a problematyka, która została przedstawiona, co więcej bardzo spodobała mi się taka odmiana. Bohaterowie zostali świetnie wykreowani. Reed West to dwudziestodwuletni bardzo przystojny, pracowity, lojalny chłopak , który jest czystą kopią swojego taty, czyli Williama Westa. Uwielbiam go jako postać i zdecydowanie ma on miano mojego książkowego męża. Za to Charlie Walker to dwudziestoletnia piękna, szczera, wygadana dziewczyna, która przed dwoma laty popełniła przestępstwo, a konsekwencje jego działań ciągną się za nią nadal. Reeda i Charlie łączy uzależnienie od adrenaliny, motocykli, ale również wspólna przeszłość… Wspomnieć muszę również o postaciach, które pojawiły się z wcześniejszych historii z cyklu Arkansas. Z racji, że WJE to powieść drugiego pokolenia, to niesamowite było ujrzenie bohaterów w roli rodziców, których się uprzednio poznało. Emocji podczas czytania nie brakowało, były momenty gdzie uśmiech nie schodził z twarzy oraz takie, które spowodowały, że łezka zakręciła się w oku. W książce zostały poruszone bardzo ważne tematy, a mianowicie o relacji rodzinnej, ale także jak popełniane przez nas czyny niosą ze sobą konsekwencje. „We’re Just Enemies” to historia Charlie Walker i Reeda Westa, która skradła całe moje serducho, a to jak darzę tą książkę miłością to nie ma słów do opisania. Piękna, intrygująca powieść z ważnymi wartościami, koniecznie musicie sięgnąć po tą lekturę. Ocena: 10/10💜

WILD LOVE - ELSIE SILVER💗🌸 I feel confident in saying that this is Elsie Silver’s best work so far. What I love most about reading author’s books in “real time” is that you can see their writing and storytelling evolving and becoming better with each book. Ford Grant is opening a recording studio in Rose Hill, where he spent his summers growing up, running around town with his best friend West and West’s infuriatingly beautiful little sister, Rosie. When Rosie Belmont comes flying back into town after ten years in the city, on the run from a bad work experience and a lackluster relationship, Ford finds himself falling right back into the love hate relationship they once had, and the crush he had on her follows along like it never even left. When she prepositions him with giving her a job - he literally cannot say no. On top of it all, a young girl shows up on his doorstep claiming he’s her biological father and needing a place to stay while her mother recovers from clinical depression. Ford has to navigate working with the only woman he’s ever loved, a woman who’s off limits in more ways than one, and being a father to a twelve year old girl. I loved seeing the relationship build between Ford and Cora, maybe even more so than Ford and Rosie’s. I loved seeing them slowly open up to each other and my heart grew three sizes when she called him her dad. I also loved the sisterly bond that grew between Cora and Rosie. I was thoroughly obsessed with Rosie and Ford from the beginning and I loved everything about what was going on between them and with Cora. I really thought Silver was gonna shoot it out the park with this one, but unfortunately I found myself getting really bored in the last 150-ish pages. I always get scared when things are going a little too well for the couple already in the middle of the book, it’s either a third act break up or it’s getting really boring. And bored, I was. All in all, this was a really good book: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars Review: Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for an arc copy to review! Darling girls is out today, and I highly recommend grabbing a copy 🩵 Hepworth’s writing is so imaginative, and her plots are different than any other thrillers I’ve read. Her new releases are one of my favorites each year, and Darling Girls is no exception. This tells the story of three “sisters” who grew up in foster care and are called back to the town of their old foster home when a crime had been discovered at the home. I really enjoyed all three main characters in this novel and found them relatable and realistic. The ending was a bit predictable, but the idea of the novel was completely fresh. This is also told in alternating POV and timelines, and I found myself dying for more information from the past when it flipped to present day. My only critique is that the addiction in this book felt like it was just thrown in for dramatic effect, and I think such a tough subject should be handled with more care. Overall, definitely give this a read!

Strange Sally Diamond by Liz Nugent Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (the first of 2024!🎉) I recently discovered one of the best books I have ever read. In my life. Strange Sally Diamond is so much more than it seems on the surface. I can hardly write anything about its plot without spoiling it, but it was the first book in a long time that had me totally immersed to the point of forgetting what was going on around me. I was having to tear myself away from every single page and the story just got more enthralling with every new layer that was added. It is an incredibly dark and disturbing story, but Liz Nugent’s writing style somehow makes you want to keep on unravelling it. Sally is a character who takes a lot of things literally, has no interest in integrating into her village and doesn’t realise the things she’s missing out on. When her father dies and she quite literally puts him out with the rubbish, she earns herself a local reputation for being strange. But disposing of her father’s body in such an unorthodox way is only the start of Sally’s story. There’s so much more to her dark past than meets the eye, and you’re definitely missing out if you don’t read on! I always know I’ve found a truly special book when I find it consuming my thoughts even when I’m not reading it. La relation qui s’installe entre eux, soufflant le chaud, soufflant le froid avec ce qu’il suffit de tensions est un véritable bonheur à lire lorsque l’on aime la romance. Dream Callahan to dwudziestoletnia piękna, wesoła, nieco roztrzepana uczennica elitarnej szkoły, która lubi igrać na nerwach jej dyrektorowi. Za to Rhodesa Covington to trzydziestosześcioletni bardzo przystojny, pewny siebie, chwilami arogancki, oschły, zawzięty dyrektor najlepszej akademii sztuki w Kolorado, ale również słynny artysta. Przez częste wpadanie na siebie tej dwójki, możemy zauważyć pomiędzy nimi nienawiść, jednak z czasem pojawia się coś więcej. Scen spicy jest kilka i zdecydowanie przyprawią rumieńców na twarzy. Potyczki słowne toczone pomiędzy głównymi bohaterami UWIELBIAM, nie raz dostarczały dawki dobrego humoru. Podczas czytania książki uśmiech nie schodził z twarzy, ale były także momenty gdzie łezka zakręciła się w oku. Zakończenie pierwszego tomu dylogii „Artists” wywołało we mnie ogrom emocji, dlatego z niecierpliwością wyczekuje kontynuacji dalszych losów uczennicy Dream Callahan i dyrektora Rhodesa Covingtona. Ocena 10/10💜
Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez I have loved Abby Jimenez's last two releases, so I was really excited for this one. I enjoyed this one a lot, but it was not a rom-com in the ways her previous ones have been. The plot felt a lot like an Emily Henry book...a romance, but with an emotionally heavy background storyline. I still highly recommend this one, but it is good to know what you are getting into. The author lists some content warnings before chapter one starts, so check them out if you have any concerns. Dariku mungkin singkat, buku ini jika didalami membawa tema yang sangat berat dan komplex, pemeran utama dalam novel ini pun terasa seperti ada dua orang. Tapi tak tau mengapa, rasanya membaca novel ini sangatlah mudah. Untuk buku translasi bahasa Indonesianya tidak janggal sama sekali sehingga mudah dibaca walau jika membaca dengan bahasa asli (Korea) pasti ada yang tidak tertranslasi. Meski begitu, terjemahannya tidak keluar jauh dari makna yang disampaikan oleh Sohn dalam bahasa asli. Karakter favoritku ialah Prof Shim. Pembawaannya yang tenang dan bijak. Karakter favorit keduaku adalah Gon. Jujur, sangat sedihhhh melihat Gon. Dia seperti itu sama sekali bukan kemauannya. Hidup Yoonjae memang tidak kalah menyedihkan dari Gon tetapi Yoonjae punya hal yang tidak Gon punya. Hal yang Gon idam-idamkan. Hubungan mereka berdua menurutku sangatlah unik dan sangat hangat. Tipe hubungan yang hanya mereka yang bisa mengerti dan rasakan hangatnya. Sejujurnya Yoonjae disini seperti narator cerita Gon. Ia bercerita kepada kami, pembaca, tentang Temannya; Gon. Melalui Gon, Yoonjae banyak belajar tentang kehidupan, tentang perasaan—kelemahan paling besar Yoonjae. Pelajaran yang tidak bisa ia dapatkan di sekolah dan buku-buku bekas di toko buku bekas sang ibu. Dari buku ini kita bisa belajar tentang kasih sayang dan cinta dari berbagai macam bentuk. I read Sleep by @cltaylorauthor last weekend and it definitely kept me awake!! C L Taylor is one of my fave thriller authors as you know you’re going to get a fast paced read that will keep you guessing. And Sleep was no different! This time, we follow Willa, our favorite cheesemonger, as she gets ready to host a vegan celebrity chef in her shop. Optimism turns to apprehension upon meeting the demanding starlet, and when she turns up dead the next day, Willa finds herself trying to clear the name of her shop assistant Archie. Can she find the true culprit, or will her time be up before she has the chance ? I have loved getting into this series 😊 The characters are well flushed out, and for the most part, everyone who needs to be is quite likable. Korina Moss' writing is spot on with the cozy genre, and I find myself playing amateur detective along with Willa the whole time. Thank you @algonquinbooks for the ARC of The Swan’s Nest. This was a really lovely book. It was a fictionalized account of Robert And Elizabeth Browning’s love story. The writing was captivating. I learned a lot about both writers that I hadn’t known. I felt transformed back into their time. Elizabeth was chronically ill and confined to her houses. Robert wrote her letters and they fell in love through Trevor correspondence. Her family was not supportive of their love affair. I really liked how the author told the store of their families and captured the writings of the times with her writing. Predictive text: How do I love Thee. Jak lubicie takie połączenie, to koniecznie musicie sięgnąć po tą pozycje! Książkę czytałam z zapartym tchem i ani przez chwilę nie mogłam oderwać się od jej czytania. Fabuła jest CUDOWNA! Od samego początku do końca oczarowuje ona czytelnika. Kreacja bohaterów bardzo mi się podobała, a przedstawienie ich relacji to coś pięknego. Amy Jones to postać, która wywarła na mnie ogromny podziw, ponieważ pomimo że była niewidoma, to starała się w miarę normalnie funkcjonować i dążyła do wyznaczonego celu. Za to Kai Kane to pewny siebie, piekielnie przystojny, bezpośredni i niewiele mówiący o sobie hokeista, który zdecydował odciąć od swojej rodziny i wyjechał na studia do Nowego Jorku. Scen spicy rozgrywających się pomiędzy Kai’em, a Amy również tutaj kilka znajdziecie, są one napisane ze smakiem i na pewno przyprawią rumieńców na twarzy. Emocje w trakcie czytania oczywiście, że są, nie zliczę momentów, gdzie uśmiech nie raz pojawił się na twarzy, ale były także takie, przy których nie obeszło się bez wzruszenia. „I wanna feel you” to kolejna świetna młodzieżówka spod pióra Joanny Chwistek, która skradła moje serce, dlatego polecam i zachęcam do sięgnięcia wszystkich tomów trylogii I wanna, gwarantuje że nie pożałujecie i będziecie się świetnie bawić podczas ich czytania! Never say never! But these books make me come pretty close to it. First of all I don’t enjoy being a hater. Isn’t so much nicer to talk about what we love? But I also think it’s a good way to define one’s taste to mediate about the stories that we don’t connect with, understand or enjoy. Here are a few of those for me. Feel free to debate me in the comments and attempt to change my mind! I love hearing opposing opinions. Note: I did not include books that I refuse to read based on the authors/content being problematic. I think the best policy for those is to not mention them at all. Any publicity is good publicity. So if I ever do, chances are I am not aware of the issues or the authors are long dead by now (I think this changes the situation). ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Nu ik drie van de vier Emily Henry boeken heb gelezen, weet ik ondertussen dat het echt hit or miss is bij mij. Ofwel vind ik het GE-WEL-DIG, ofwel teleurstellend. Happy Place was voor mij helaas toch wel een beetje dat laatste. 🫤 Misschien werd dit boek voor mij een beetje slachtoffer van zijn eigen populariteit. Iedereen is hier altijd helemaal lyrisch over, dan krijg ik enorme verwachtingen, en als die dan niet helemaal ingelost worden… Tja. Ik las Happy Place in februari en gaf het toen maar twee sterren, maar nu ik er nog eens over nadenk zijn het er rationeel gezien eigenlijk toch wel drie waard. Het was zeker niet slecht! De setting is cute. Wyn is cute. Harriet’s help-ik-heb-verkeerde-levenskeuzes-gemaakt-what-am-I-doing-with-my-life-kan-alles-please-blijven-zoals-het-is-ding was akelig relatable. Er waren stukken die me raakten. Maar toch, ik heb het gevoel dat dit beter had kunnen zijn. Ik vond de vrienden niet heel likeable, de hele break-up tussen Wyn en Harriet gaat eigenlijk helemaal nergens over, en niks van dit hele drama had hoeven gebeuren als ook maar iemand in dit boek fatsoenlijk met elkaar gepraat had. Maar goed, het is 🌸roze🌸 en ik hou van roze. En deze mooie hardcover was slechts 10 dukaten bij bol en dat is echt gewoon een gigantisch dealtje, dus ik ga niet klagen. 📚The House of Starling ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars “It took me some time, but I’m glad I was finally able to finish this for the second time! The House of Starling is a complex fantasy story with characters who grow for the better or for the worse. To put it simply, it’s one of the best fantasy novels I’ve read in a while. Balance is a key element to this story, and it’s tested throughout the story, and it helps answer a lot of questions you may have when you’re first reading this novel. Raemian Starling, the stepdaughter of the cruel Queen Gemma, is a strong Shay warrior and definitely one who knows the difference between right and wrong. Her character showed someone who fights for all elves, and considers everything—even if it puts her own life at risk. I really enjoyed reading about her, and how both Shay and Bleck Larin who at first may think little of her, grow to respect and even defend her. [Spoiler:] She may have had her own doubts of leading her people, but the way she fights time and time again, and not just with her sword, I think she’ll always be seen as a true leader of the Shay. Gastel, the youngest Bleck Larin prince of King Mesmal, has a past that defines his curious nature and the future of the war between the Shay and Bleck Larin. Anam-magic that seems to be used only by the Bleck Larin-was an element that only added to his character, which made me just as curious as he was when meeting Raemian for the first time. Having a character like Gastel who has more power than he knows what to do with, ties in with that element of balance that’s talked about time and time again throughout the book. While romance does play a part in this book, it doesn’t feel forced. It only adds to the heartbreak many of the characters endure from before the start of the war, to the near ‘end’. So, if you’re looking for a fantasy novel with elves fighting a war stemmed from jealousy and sacrifice, a budding romance enough to make your heart swell, and somber backstories, then the House of Starling is the novel for you. I, for one, can’t wait to see how the second book will turn out!" 📚Release date is April 9th! So come check it out! 😊

Book Review After reading Foul Lady Fortune, I decided to take a step back, and regardless of being aware of some spoilers, I wanted to read These Violent Delights and Our Violent Ends by @thechloegong before launching into Last Violent Call and Foul Heart Huntsman. Though both duologies take place in the same world but can be read without reading the other, the novellas contain characters from the first duology, and I really wanted their backstories. In this These Violent Delights, we follow Juliette and Roma, heirs to rival gangs in 1920s Shanghai. When a madness invades their city, they must put aside their differences in order to figure out what is infecting the people of their city; making them claw out their own throats, and how to stop it before there is nothing and nobody left. Chloe Gong manages to explain the history between these rival gangs, all while having the plot play out and not missing a beat. Full of action, this retelling of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet integrates itself seamlessly with the world of early 20th century Shanghai. Aside from the gory details associated with the deaths from the " madness," this book was fun to read. It’s straightforward, economical and flavourful as the title suggests. I loved how this wasn’t your conventional step and step cookbook (I mean the steps are there but they are not fully there 😂🙈I don’t even know how to explain it). What I’m trying to say is that the author gives you just the right amount of information and leaves room for you to play around with the recipes and add your personality to them. I loved the pictures of the food and how they truly brought the recipes to life. I loved how you can easily use substitutes for certain ingredients and it still works out(😂😂not sure what I’m comparing with here but the point is that the food still tastes good). What you see on my pictures is the Chicken Shawarma Salad and man it tasted too good.
