He is vital to life in Haiti, as it is him that makes the crops grow and ensures there is enough food for the lakou to survive. Today’s society is not as agriculturally dependent and so most people honor and work with him in matters of hard work and finances. He is the origin of Haitian society and traditional Haitian values. He is a man of the countryside and values hard work most of all. If you are given a gift by him, know that you have earned it. Sometimes people tell me “You should slow down, You got a lot on your plate.” I always appreciate having people in my life who look after me. I appreciate the concern because I know I’m not alone. But sometimes you’re called to do something that’s bigger than yourself. My spiritual path has lead me to responsibility. I am a servant of my path, of my guides. That’s why Haitians call themselves Sevite. It means “One who serves.” Sometimes that service is tiring. It’s exhausting. But what you are called to do is t always easy. Being a guide to others means that I carry a light. People in the dark will reach out to me in hopes that they will be able to see. They will try to borrow my light. Some have tried to take it. Comes with the territory. But I still consider it my purpose to help guide them. So that means, regardless of how tiring it may look on the outside, what roadblocks may be in my path, and however hard life may seem on the outside, I will still walk it. I was called to do this. So if you see me with a lot on my plate, god, nature and my spirit guides put it there. Not because they “knew I could handle it,” but because I answered the call and accepted it. I made a choice to help others find their light. This is how I’ve defined my purpose as a Vodou Priestess.
DEN MI WESU II ϟ A while ago I met @eliso.y through @karpachii 's play 'Den Mi Wesu'. Since then we've been growing closer and working together. She makes beautiful costumes, set designs, and has so many amazing ideas. For me, coming up with concepts is not that easy, it takes a while. For her, it seems so easy. It's incredible to work with someone with a mind like hers. Good thing she's really bad at taking photos. Together we stand strong and we have been exploring and creating together. I think what's coming is the best work I have created so far and I'm really finding my style as an artist, which is really different compared to working as a photographer for others. As we met through Den Mi Wesu, we decided we wanted to do more with the concept. So @eliso.y created 4 more suits, and we came up with a plan. Well what a plan it was. On the beach in February, extreme weather conditions, code yellow in The Netherlands, but this was the only option. In the end we were only able to shoot for 2x 15 minutes because of the weather. But that day was the only option. It were the worst conditions I have ever worked in, and we were absolutely not able to what we wanted to do. Still, the results are amazing and I'm proud of what we did. Big up to the team, and the models who conquered the cold and rain for us. This is Vodou. The coming together of spiritual and biological family. Feeding the spirit through offering. You learn from your parents, your godparents, your siblings. Your Bitasyon (habitation) is where you build your foundation. It’s such a shame that so many of our people have become disconnected from their origin. It is a journey to behold. Knowing that I am going on year 8 of my journey as a Vodou Priestess, the people that I come into contact with are always teaching me. But being a Vodou Priestess is not always what people think. What they expect of us is not always what we can give. Keep that in mind. We are a mouthpiece for the spirit but not the spirit. We are not the only things that will connect you to spirit. We are not all knowing. Don’t be so desperate for an answer or solution that you let people convince you they are the only ones with the truth. The truth lives in all of us, I’ve just likely done more work to be able to hear is AND I had a guide to help me too. We do the work just like you do. Spirituality is a never ending life experience and the practice is a kind of religion we establish for ourselves.

Thanks to all my clients that were okay with me taking a step back for a bit at the end of last year. It is very important that I do this sometimes. There's a metaphor Haitians will use: Work Machete. This is a description of a tool that is used and overused for some time. Here are some of the reasons why I stopped: -I wanted to refresh myself spiritually with renewal ceremonies. -I needed to feed and do ceremony for many of the lwa that I use in rituals for people during spiritual work. -I had too many clients and responsibilities. Sometimes you gotta put down one to handle the other. Reasons why I'm back: -i had a dream that people needed me and it was time again.

During the month of January I have been prioritizing my growth and the growth of all things around me. I am growing and walking in abundance. I think with the resurgence of people wanting to “come home” as a result of race based issues in this country, trendy aspects of ATRs have got people acting a little…interesting. I believe just abt every one of us deserves acces and understanding of a spiritual path but let’s be honest, so many do not take the time to actually LEARN about Vodou. Learn about the origin of other ATRs. This means sometimes people in the spiritual community can be as disrespectful, or clumsy as any of the privileged white people some of us are trying so desperately to keep away from ATRs. I hear it so often, “Practice what’s yours.” And then people represent Papa Legba as some kind of crossroads demon. “Feel called to what’s yours.” And then start comparing Baron Samedi to Saturn because both names start with S and so forth. “Stop appropriating,” And then call themselves priestesses and priests because they’ve been practicing for a year. The title means more than the ceremony you were a part of. This is a first world problem for sure. 3 years ago in October of 2020 I went and opened a business. It was just a small box of sage and a shitty website with stock photos and almost no knowledge of how I was going to make it work. It was in the middle of the pandemic, I could barely go outside, I was definitely broke and I had just lost my scholarship. I guess I wanted to make life as hard as possible. I genuinely don’t know how I found the focus and determination to keep going. I’m not sure what’s fueling me at this point and honestly it’s constantly getting harder. But I have a storefront. AND it came almost miraculously. Within my budget, the area I wanted it and within the perfect moment. Spirit is leading me and I am following. It includes 2 offices in the back. It’s off of Oakland park Blvd in Sunrise, FL and my name is on the lease. I did that. And now I’m using AI to envision how I might design the store for the Spring Opening next year. I worked with a client today who told me this had been a long time coming. Something she had been waiting for. This client of mine came with her nonverbal autistic son and he, too, was cleansed. She said she was surprised he was so well behaved. I’ll admit I have experience dealing with difficult or special needs children so it was a joy for me to bring him into our ritual for their family of two. Why would you want to take a bath? Tell me. Why is it important to take baths? This is a ritual that can transform. This is a passageway we can create for ourselves into the lives we want to manifest. Why now at the end of the year? This I when the primordial energy of our world shifts and we can tap into that power to shift ourselves, our thoughts, our alignment into something greater. Do I have to practice Vodou? No! This is something that is integral and real to all those who inhabit this earth.
I've had this nagging feeling for the entirety of December that something terrible was happening in Italy. I thought it was just my nervous system remembering last year, when while in Italy my wife's mental health deteriorated and the mess my mother started required me to show in in court in early January while my saint-lawyer had to prepare during the holidays for it. It was horrific and the same feeling came back to me. I have asked for help to Vesta, Venus and my grandparents to solve the mess in Italy for a year but since this feeling started I was much more focused and instead of asking for problems to be solved I asked for "me and my lawyer to celebrate". I asked for us being opening champagne and the likes, because as you know, the universe knows of no "negatives" and so saying "make my debt disappear" still bring up the debt, whilst focusing on the celebration feeling that being debt free would bring should be the focus. Yesterday my lawyer got in touch again, I hadn't heard from her in over a month. Something is going to happen and the first piece of the jigsaw might be sorted soon. My grandparents deserved more than a candle to thank them for that and so I picked up oranges today, just like they used to have in winter, with the peel on the heater to make the entire house smell christmassy. I have learnt something new, yet again.
