Northamptonshire Children’s Trust and the Integrated Care Board would like to announce the outcome of the recent process to find a provider for the new model of short breaks now called, Daytime Activities, Overnight Breaks and Respite. The successful organisation was Action for Children. Action for Children currently deliver non- residential short breaks across Northamptonshire and will now start to prepare to deliver the new service which is due to start on 1st November 2024. We want to ensure the smoothest of changeovers to avoid any disruption to children, young people and their families. We understand that change can be a worrying time for all of those involved in the services so we will be arranging an opportunity for parents, carers and staff within the services to meet with Action for Children and the commissioners to ask any questions they may have. Amneh Noufal is on a mission to provide top notch care and wholesome meals for children in her neighborhood, and despite being a newcomer to the child care scene, she’s made an impression for her commitment to learning and improvement. When Amneh began her journey with AFC, she faced the daunting task of navigating paperwork and program requirements as a new provider while working towards becoming a Type A provider to serve more children. Supported by a team of AFC Technical Assistants as well as Village and CDA coaches, she’s embraced every opportunity to expand her understanding of the CACFP, record-keeping, and licensing requirements, moving closer to her goal with each visit. Just over two years after starting with Action for Children, Amneh is nearly compliant on all aspects with CACFP guidelines and has successfully made the transition to a 5-star rated Type A program! Shoutout to our incredible Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) team and the child care programs they work with! The team was tasked with helping all interested providers increase their ratings by April 15th to maximize their efforts ahead of a major rule change. Over the last four and a half months they've been on fire with their dedication and hard work, resulting in a whopping 163 SUTQ increased registrations! In case you didn't know, Step Up to Quality is a quality rating and improvement system designed to improve the quality of early care and education in Ohio. So this means our SUTQ team has been able to help 211 MORE programs with their rating of their early child care and education between December and April. But that's not all - they've been actively supporting providers through 5 clinics focused on claiming SUTQ incentives through Franklin County RISE, including a special cohort in Spanish for our Spanish-speaking Family Child Care providers. Additionally, their commitment shines through with daily individual visits to improve quality and address any questions. We have supported our local High Wycombe team of national children’s charity @actionforchildrenuk for some time. In the past we have donated furniture for their offices and folding tables for their fundraising table-top sales. Most recently we supplied six of these easy-clean upholstered panels to use in the bedrooms of one of their children’s homes. Action for Children protects and supports children and young people, providing practical and emotional care and support and campaigning to bring lasting improvements to their lives. They do incredibly important work and we are very proud to support them.

Over the past few months Year 9 have been researching, raising awareness and funds for selected charities. 9 charities were selected by the pupils and on Wednesday 10 groups competed to win a £1000 for their charity. The presentations were really outstanding! The year 9 audience were exceptional in their behaviour and their support of their peers. Here are two types of coping skills you can use depending on the situation : Problem-based coping is helpful when you need to change your situation, perhaps by removing a stressful thing from your life. For example, if you’re in an unhealthy relationship, your anxiety and sadness might be best resolved by ending the relationship (as opposed to soothing your emotions). Emotion-based coping is helpful when you need to take care of your feelings when you either don’t want to change your situation or when circumstances are out of your control. I’ve just entered the ballot to try for my 5th London, next year. The London Marathon crowds make it carnival of joy, celebration, fleeting moments of beautiful genuine human connection as they catch your eye and scream your name, stranger to stranger, “you’ve got this poppers”. Goose bumps. One of the best sporting events on the planet. Everytime as the medal was handed to me, I cried a few seconds of tears and asked that person if we could hug, just a very brief moment of spontaneous connection. Like a release of raw emotion from the months of horrible hard training work and maybe because you’ve wanted to stop and thank everyone of the 1000s who screamed your name on the way around like they’d know you all their life, or gave you a high five, or quietly smiled at you, every person willing you to finish when they saw the pain on your face. A beautiful moment in time. Then it’s over and it’s back on with life. Humanity 🤍. Enjoy YOUR BIG DAY, take it all in participants🦽 🏃🏻♀️ 🏃🏻♂️🏅🤍🙌🏼…. 👋 Meet Adam, Action for Children Young Ambassador and keen hockey enthusiast. He’s using his voice to advocate for better youth mental health, a topic that’s close to his heart. Adam says he became a Young Ambassador to share his lived experience and help other young people in the process. He’s particularly interested in the positive relationship between mental and physical health. “Playing hockey has shown me the importance of never giving up on your dreams, being kind to each other and coming to the defence of your team.” Adam is currently studying his A Levels, and plays hockey for his school, club and for Wales 🏴 He’s still exploring options for his future but says “whichever path I take, the transferable skills I've gained through hockey and [with] Action for Children will be invaluable”. Yes I am the idiot!!! But, this will be my biggest achievement in running! The training has been both physically and mentally challenging, particularly with a hip flexor injury after my 18 mile training run. I’m here, I’m ready and so excited to run the @londonmarathon tomorrow.
