LOCKJAW 🚲 pitched as “a small-town ghost story where monsters living and dead haunt the streets,” LOCKJAW by Matteo L. Cerilli is a gritty YA horror + thriller that invites us to consider what brings us together… and what drives us apart. the story centers on Chuck Warren— well, not really, as he dies in the very first chapter; instead, we follow a large cast of diverse and detailed characters who work to discover the truth around his death and the monster lurking within their town. perhaps my favorite was Paz, a rebellious pre-teen who’s seen as a burden on the town and who leads a gang of inseparable friends into chaos to right the wrong of Chuck’s death. she’s a spitfire! we jump around a lot between timelines and points of view, which isn’t necessarily my favorite storytelling method, but Cerilli excels at it! he balances “showing” and “telling” so well, keeping each protagonist’s voice unique and deeply compelling. the monster at this story’s core reveals itself through privilege, oppression, and the sinister power of keeping secrets. i really enjoyed this fresh YA story! one thing of note— while the story depicts some incredibly painful moments of homophobia, racism, transphobia, and oppression, i really admire how Cerilli takes care to never actually say the slurs he’s referring to— instead, they’re spoken of through metaphor and rhymes. the words themselves have hurt so many people, and Cerilli’s story maintains a powerful impact without reifying that harm! thank you so much to the Hear Our Voices team for including me on this tour, and to Tundra for the gifted ARC to read and review:) and of course, tysm to Matteo for sending me some awesome stickers— i've used them as inspo for this moodboard! 🚲 qotd: do you know how to ride a bike, and do you enjoy it? i never learned!

✨ Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young✨ Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Words truly cannot express how much I loved this book. When I was about halfway through I paused and thought about how I wished I could read it for the first time over again. The romance between Win and Bo was so tender and raw, with them treating each other and their needs with respect and kindness in their friendship and partnership. 💕 I don’t usually gravitate towards accidental pregnancy tropes, but the way the author wrote the characters emotions, worries, and hopes made the plot so heartwarming and enticing - I truly couldn’t put it down. I was in a constant swing between laughing at their incredible banter to crying at how real and honest their insecurities and vulnerabilities felt. All of the characters in this were dynamic, from the complexities of Win and Bo to the hilarity of Sarah and Caleb to the sweetness of found family in the D&D group. As a full-spectrum doula and person who can get pregnant, I loved the forward from Hannah on abortion access and the hurdles people face when seeking reproductive healthcare. Add to that her heartfelt letter about the interconnectedness of motherhood and disability, and I knew that this would be the book for me. I could honestly read 1,000 pages of these characters and their lives together, and it will be required reading when anyone asks for a book rec from me going forward. #slugwifereads #bookstagram #booktok #queerreader #fictionreads #Romance #contemporaryromance #favoritebooks #booktrends #bookstagram #favereads #monsterromance #fiction #bookish #readingcommunity #bookcommunity #bookstagrammer #reader #booklover #bookstagramcommunity #booksbooksbooks #reading #bookrecs #bookworm #tbr #bookreviews #disabilityrep #disabilityromance #accidentalpregnancy #onenightstand #strangerstolovers

⠀ Hey choombas!⠀ 🌈⠀ ✨⠀ QOTD: what's the weather like where you are? ⠀ ✨⠀ AOTD: it's cooler than it's been in days today and I appreciate it haha⠀ ✨ ⠀ Given what's happened over the last 8 months, there are few things I can stand less than people saying we should keep booksta apolitical. Reading has never been an apolitical activity, and if you think it is you need to go back to study your history. ⠀ If you're asking why I'm bringing this up now, idk what to tell you apart from check my stories, and look up what's happening in Rafah rn. ⠀ I'm not here to tell ya'll why you should be on the side of P*lestine, bc honestly if you're not you might as well block me already. No, I'm here with a reminder that you can't take politics out of bookstagram: whether you read cis het romances or queer tales of rebellions, whether the characters you read are all white or as diverse as the world is...your reading is political. ⠀ Read books that exclude some types of people and that's just as political as reading only inclusive fiction. ⠀ So next time you consider not posting about Palestine because politics don't belong on booksta, remember that every post you chose to make is inherently political. ⠀ So stop hiding before this excuse and let's drown social media in the tide of our very political support for the freedom of the P*lestinian people 🇵🇸 ⠀ ✨⠀ ✨⠀ Free Pal*stine! #ceasefirenow ⠀ ✨⠀ keywords: Book recs - books - scifi books - queer books - cyberpunk aesthetic - book recommendations - trans books . ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ . ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ . ⠀ . ⠀ . ⠀ . ⠀ . ⠀ . ⠀ . ⠀ . ⠀ [📸 Image description: a graphic spelling out 'Reading is political' where every letter is a book cover, all of it superimposed on the P*lestinian flag. follow the tracks… 🐺 welcome to writer-feature wednesday, where i’m sharing the love for my beloved bestie to the north (Maine, to be exact)— Katherine Silva! her Wild Fall duology was one of my favorite indie/self-pub reads of 2023, because her stories were so richly full of emotion, eldritch horror, and plenty of beautifully-flawed characters; Liz Raleigh is such a fascinating protagonist facing a truly unimaginable tragedy, and i loved watching her story unfold through both books. in the past few months, i’ve gotten to watch Katherine Silva grow not only as an author but as an editor with a forthcoming taiga-horror anthology too! her latest release, a novella called UNDEAD FOLK, is a “harrowing tale of sacrifice, loss, and damnation”— we follow Ella, who’s wandering across the apocalyptic country with little more than backwoods herbal rituals, the clothes on her back, and a whole lot of grief bottled up inside. her journey is aided by the undead, reanimated corpse of a fox who bears the soul of her father. she’s mourning immeasurable losses and trying to find her place in the world, while also trying to make peace with herself. it’s a deeply emotional story, and one that thrives through its atmospheric and almost hollow tone, so i’ve decided not to tell you anything more about the plot itself, because it’s worth diving into with only the words to guide you. Ella’s deeply relatable and yet almost completely isolated, and Katherine Silva’s writing meshes perfectly with the world she’s created. while i much prefer Silva’s longer novels— i struggle to get attached to novellas sometimes!— this is absolutely a worthy addition to her collection of grief horror tales. 🐺 qotd: if you could travel the country with one animal by your side, what would you choose and why?

Happy Wednesday! ✨📖🌸 Bittersweetly, we’ve come to the conclusion of the Juniper Creek Golden Years series. But what a wonderful ride it has been, and there couldn’t be a better way to close this chapter than by having the wedding of the first book’s protagonists—Minnie and Eleanor— as the backdrop. For the main story, we get to watch Loretta, a slightly cynical side character from the 3rd book (Wishing on Winter) whose barn provides the venue, and Joyce, a bubbly friend of Eleanor’s and a professional wedding planner, come together to create a truly beautiful wedding day. It’s a delightful dual POV of a grumpy sunshine romance! 💖 I’m sure I sound like a broken record, but it’s been so fun to watch this series grow, and to have the comforting familiarity of the recuring places we visit in Juniper Creek. Each story has had the perfect amount of cozy, with wonderful descriptions of food, movie viewing, games, and reading recs sprinkled throughout. Those elements have always been fun to look out for, and you can get a lot of ideas for living your best life from this series. 🏡 I’m so thankful to @brennabaileybooks for writing these books—especially since they’ve all featured characters in their seventies—and it’s been a real privilege to read it. Congratulations on this accomplishment, Brenna! 🥳 Forever in Flowers is out tomorrow, May 30th! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ On a personal note, I loved creating the backdrop for this pic! I was so fortunate to already have the peonies in a vase on my desk, haha. 🤓 #Bookstagram #Instabook #NewBook #RomanceNovel #BooksOfInstagram #IReadCanadian #CanadaReads #QueerBooks #QueerAuthor #SapphicFiction #SapphicRomance #QueerReader [Image description: A phone displaying the cover of Forever in Flowers by Brenna Bailey-Davies. This sat in my kindle library for over 4 years but I finally read it! JVN was a person I immediately loved when I got into "Queer Eye" some years ago now and seeing them being so gender-non-conformingly themselves was actually the first step to me for breaking down the gender binary and its expectations. I watched them and saw for myself how arbitrary the limits we put on gender expression were and how none of what you wear takes away from who you are, but instead enhances that conection with yourself! It has been a deeply personal book sharing some things I would personally struggle to tell even the closest friends, never mind the whole world! But as she points out in this book, there was nothing that she could not come back from. The darkest of dark and the lowest of low and he still managed to make amends and grow and learn and fail and come back and do it all whilst trying to take care of themselves and heal so much shit. I love him even more than I did before. Having such an edited version of them on screen meant I knew she'd have more to tell on here and she did and I am grateful to know. No pedestal. Just respect. 💕 10/10 💕 Over the Top - Jonathan Van Ness #queerreader #queerauthor #nonfiction #memoir #autobiography #ebook #overthetopjvn #jonathanvanness #checktriggerwarnings #mentalhealthawareness #hivawareness #bookstagram

Our barista Garett's staff pick this month is The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers. He likes this story because it's imaginative, about found family, and models acceptance of people -or beings- different from ourselves. The first in the Wayfarers series The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet follows a motley crew on an exciting journey through space—and one adventurous young explorer who discovers the meaning of family in the far reaches of the universe—in this light-hearted debut space opera from a rising sci-fi star. Each month, we donate 5% of sales from our Staff Picks shelf to @carrythewater.slc, a sovereign Indigenous healing garden. ✨ The Ride of Her Life by Jennifer Dugan ✨ Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25 Release Date: May 28th Thank you to NetGalley, Avon, and Harper Collins for gifting me an ebook AND a physical ARC in exchange for an honest review! When I saw the listing for a sapphic cowgirl romance with a bi FMC, I truly could not pass it up. This was SUCH a fun read - I loved Molly and Shani’s whirlwind rodeo romance. The world of Christina’s Corrals and the characters within it were so fun to get to know, from the ragtag group of equestrians to the horses themselves (who could forget Edward Cullen, the donkey?). I loved how intimate and real the blossoming relationship between Molly and Shani, as well as both of the women coming into their own and learning their strengths in this book. My only critique of the book is that I wished we got more in depth with Shani and Molly - I love an HEA, but felt like we needed more work to get there, especially with the characters involved in the big conflicts. #slugwifereads #bookstagram #booktok #queerreader #fictionreads #queerreads #queerfiction #readingchallenge #readqueerallyear #readqueerbooks #YARomance #Romance #Queeromance #Queeromance #northcarolina #sapphicromance #cowgirlromance #horsegirlFMC #ARC #eARC #ARCReader #Avon #harpercollins #biFMC #horsegirl #horsegirlromance #farrierromance

“Our mouths seemed to fit like the most important pieces of a heart-shaped puzzle.” I received an eARC of A Little Kissing Between Friends by Chencia C Higgins from Carina Adores in exchange for an honest review. Here are my thoughts! 🎵 Cyn Tha Starr has a successful music career that has led her to fame and fortune and a rotating door of beautiful women. Jucee is a single mother who has taken a break from dating to focus on taking care of her son all, while being one of the most popular dancers a prominent strip club. Jucee and Cyn have been friends for years, but when they start to see each other in a new light will their friendship be able to survive their attraction? 🎵 I have gushed about D’Vaughn and Kris Plan a Wedding so many times that I was thrilled when I got my hands on an arc for Higgins new book - A Little Kissing Between Friends. Unfortunately I ended up barely being able to make my way through this one. My thoughts are too long for an Instagram caption, so feel free to check out my StoryGraph for a full review that goes into details on what I liked and disliked about this one. For now just know that this one was NOT for me. A Little Kissing Between friends is out today - if you’ve read it or plan to I’d love to hear what you think. Maybe it’s just a me thing? …just be a queen! 🌈 DON’T BE A DRAG by Skye Quinlan is a fast-paced and introspective novel, full of fun, feuds, and a whole lot of hope! it’s Quinlan’s 2nd book— their debut Forward March, a YA marching-band mistaken-identity romance, has been on my tbr forever— and it follows Briar Vincent, whose struggles with mental health send them to New York City, where their parents hope a summer with their older brother Beau will be just what they need to get back on track. Beau’s also known by his drag name— Bow Regard— and lights up the stage at The Gallery, but Briar’s not one for the spotlight… until she learns of the bar’s Drag King of the Year competition, via a stubborn and conceited king named Spencer Read who struts his stuff and puts down his fellow performers. Briar, determined to prove herself (+ knock Spencer down a peg or too), signs up for the competition— despite never doing drag! it’s a whirlwind of learning how to lip-sync, designing costumes, and stepping out of her shell— and maybe discovering themselves along the way… i LOVED this! i expected a fun + creative pre-Pride Month read, but i was pleasantly surprised by just how relatable/realistic the portrayals of depression, intrusive thoughts, and anxiety spirals were. it was unbelievably hard-hitting for me, as much of Briar’s internal monologue echoed my experiences as a young queer teen. the constant push-and-pull between wanting to be seen + wanting to slip away is a tough one, and Briar faced it in stride as she stepped on stage as Edgar Allen Poe! the pop culture references were surprisingly not too cliche, and i love how much each character was flawed yet given space to grow. Achilles, the nonbinary autistic best friend, was def my favorite, but this story has SO many stunning queer community moments for every reader— and i highly recommend it! visit the TBRBeyondTours website to find links to all our reviews:) and since Don’t Be a Drag releases today, go pick up a copy! as always, my holographic pride sticker is from Fables and Tales Co— use my code SPOONIE10! 🌈 qotd: if you had to perform a drag king/queen lip-sync, what song would you pick?

Equal parts tender and edgy, this inventive queer romance imagines what it might feel like to come of age in the afterlife. Tegan Masters is dead. She’s sixteen and she’s dead and she’s standing in the parking lot of the Marybelle Motor Lodge, the single most depressing motel in all of New Jersey and the place where Tegan spent what she remembers as the worst weekend of her life. In the front office, she meets Zelda, a cute and sarcastic girl Tegan’s age who is, in fact, an angel (wings and all). According to Zelda, Tegan is officially in heaven, where every person inhabits an exact replica of their happiest memory. For Tegan, Zelda insists, that place is the Marybelle—creepy minigolf course, revolting breakfast buffet, broken TV, and all. Tegan has a few complaints about this. As Zelda takes Tegan on a whirlwind tour through Tegan’s past to help her understand what mattered most to her in life, the stakes couldn’t be higher. If Zelda fails to convince Tegan that the Marybelle was the site of Tegan’s perfect moment, both girls face eternal consequences too dire to consider. But if she succeeds…they just might get their happily-ever-afterlife. • • • • • • • • #BookNerd #gaybooks #BookLover #yabookstagram #Bookstagrammer #Readers #BookObsessed #Instagay #Waxboss #bookish #Bibliophile #Books #Bookish #Bookworm #Guyswhoread #BooksofInstagram #Scentsy #Bookgram #scentsysnapshot #Booktok #Reader #Bookoftheday #BookRecommendations #Readersofinstagram #Scentsyconsultant #Bookstagram #GayReader #QueerReader #QueerBookstagram #LGBTbooks

R E V I E W 🧿 ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 3.5/5 Lana Farrar is a reclusive ex-movie star and one of the most famous women in the world. Every year, she invites her closest friends for a getaway on her private Greek island. The getaway turns very sinister when a murder occurs and the suspects are limited… This was the first buddy read that my bestie and I have done in a couple of months and it was quite a ride. The narrator of the story was absolutely insane and probably the most unreliable MC ever. I think I went into this book expecting something completely different. I would say my favorite part about this book was that I read it with my bestie. This book easily full of surprises and even though we both agreed it was obvious who was the murderer, but I still enjoyed the storyline for the most part. I would still say my favorite book by this author is The Silent Patient. #bookreview #bookreviewers #bookreviews #bookreviewers #queerreader #books #bookreviewersofinstagram #readmore #bookreviewblog #bookreviewsofinstagram #bookreviewblogger #bibliophile #bookish #booksbooksbooks #bookishlove #booklover #bookstagram #horror #bookcommunity #booknookstagram #booksandcoffee #bookishfeatures #bookishlovegroup #booknerdsandfriends #bookaesthetic #lgbtq #thrillers #coffeeandcurrentlyreading #literarylife

Anyone else get ready for a big trip by cleaning their house from top to bottom? We apparently can’t do anything by halves, we had to level up by reorganizing our bookshelves. Now we have a home for all our queer books, so I can start getting through them after the trip. Dreaming big of my book joining these other amazing titles on the shelf. 😍 #queerreader #queerauthor #queerbooks #queerbookstagram #queerbookshelf #authordreams

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! 🎉 i love celebrating my friends’ accomplishments, and today i’m singing the praises of my favorite bookish merch brand— Fables & Tales Co, who just reached their three-year anniversary! two bookish friends met at college in Michigan, fell in love, and started a family… and soon, a small business! it’s blossomed into a brand full of bookish gifts, classic and modern book references, and a strong emphasis on diversity + inclusion in literature! i’ve been a part of their rep team for about 2 months now, and it’s already been one of my favorite experiences here on booksta— the team is SO supportive and creative, and i love getting to chat with my new besties about their favorite reads, bookish goodies, and our hectic lives! to celebrate Fables & Tales Co and their three awesome years, plus many more to come, i’m rocking one of my favorite rep-team items— my READ DIVERSE BOOKS sweatshirt! i debuted this one in my first-ever rep post for them back on April 1, and nearly 2 months later i can confirm that it’s the coziest hoodie in my collection. it’s paired with my new “everything” mug— which reminds us to READ BANNED BOOKS! seriously, this mug has been through the wringer with me— it started with my postman launching it at my front door on a rainy afternoon, and now it’s been used for coffee, tea, ice cream, and even soup when i was feeling sick a couple weeks ago! it’s massive and perfect for whatever i need:) as always, i love showing off items that speak to my passion for diverse literature, and i love knowing that Fables & Tales stands for advocacy too:) go share the love by ordering from Fables & Tales today— and use my rep code: SPOONIE10! they've got a great deal on stickers today!! 🎉 qotd: what’s your favorite piece of bookish merch? or, what did you do this weekend?

I finished reading this ARC in the dead of the night and I definitely want to reread it before posting my review because I'm all feels and zero brain right now. Once again @kayla.faber.writes surpassed herself and most traditionally published authors I've read. ❤️ My review of Out of the Blue is coming soon! I need to let my heart digest the emotional earthquake this book put me through and maybe review Pretty Devils first. Is Sucker Punch: Out of the Blue on your TBR yet? If not, amend immediately! Lately, I've been having a lot of fun haging out with these two, on my writing sessions. They've been slowly unforlding before my eyes and letting me get to know them with the ease and all the time of a summer's day, just as they do with each other. Very different individuals, they are, Song Shilin being Bruce Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark, while Li Jun Ye's much more Within Temptation's Grace and Tan JianCi's Darkness, exploring them, their inner worlds and what makes them who they are has been a true delight. Drafting this tale has had me research split personality disorder, flamingos, the existence of black flamingos, the feel of sand in your hands, running from your fingers, the cool of water lapping at your feet, the sense of losing one's footing, ground shaking under your feet, waves crashing. Loss, grief, despair, being what others expect you to be, being yourself, not being yourself, not knowing where you are, where you stand, who you are, not knowing how to trust, how to give or how to take, not knowing who to trust, who to believe, except for your heart and what it tells you, these are all elements that will weave themselves into this tale, which, make no mistakes, is a really dark one. Usually, I kind of know how I want a story to end - if not the exact wording, at least the general sense - but not this time. This time, I have at least 5 possible endings running through my head, and not all of them are the happy ending expected of romance tales. But that's the beauty of writing something without considering an audience at the end of it, that's the beauty of writing for one's self, to explore and play with the stories and the characters, to develop your voice, your art, your talents. I've always had a huge problem with genre constrictions and with rules - authority issues and whatnot - and there's nothing I love more than breaking them, twisting the expectations, the 'you must do things this way for them to be done right'. the external demands and dogmas that to me, cull creativity and free-thinking, kill growth at the stem. So I'll listen to the characters and their tale, instead of outside voices, and I will go against the grain.

Bernie, a photographer, post-college and directionless, moves into a communal queer house where she meets, among others, Jigger the cat, gorgeous Violet, and most importantly Leah. Leah seems more established on the surface. They're in a relationship (but it's languishing). They received a fellowship this summer from their PhD program (but they don't know what to do with it). But when Bernie's professor and mentor dies, leaving behind a legacy tarnished by allegations of inappropriate behavior and abuse, as well as his estate and collection to Bernie, Leah convinces her to take a road trip together where they'll use Bernie's photographs and Leah's words to document their home state. As they travel the Pennsylvania countryside in Leah's partner's car, they begin to capture the essence of their state, the changing world, and each other. I absolutely loved Housemates. It was hard to pick complements for it because I've never read anything like it before. It was slow, contemplative, and rich with mundane, perfect detail. At first, I was a little off-put by the frame of it: an elder queer photographer as the narrator, having an almost supernatural access/fascination bordering on obsession with Bernie and Leah, but ultimately it fit. It made the pace, the details, and perspective make sense. I loved the gorgeous prose, the treatment of power and abuse, the interrogation of what we owe our communities, and the sweet, complex, (im)perfect queer relationship(s) at its core. One of my favorite reads this year, and I'll be checking out Emma Copley Eisenberg's @frumpenberg other writing! Thank you so much to @hogarthbooks and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I listened to the audiobook for Imagination: A Manifesto & now I’m recommending it to all of my friends. The book talks about how imagination is essential to create a better, more just world. It looks at ways that our world falls short as well as some encouraging developments that are a step in the right direction. I like the way it encompasses tech, art, & politics. And it’s beautifully narrated. Image ID: Resting the book Imagination: A Manifesto by Ruha Benjamin in the lap of my long plaid skirt

After millennia of living in idleness, the Jade Emperor orders Song Yao back to the mortal plane. His task is seemingly simple: to oversee the love trial between two immortal lords. Only when he bids his old friend Hengwen Qingjun farewell at the heavenly gates is he told of his true role on the mortal plane: to steal away the heart of one of the lords, Tianshu Xingjun. Falling from the skies with no way back, Song Yao can only wonder, who’s really being put on trial here?” (From the @peachflowerhouse website) 🌸 Since I’m doing this a little backwards compared to how I usually do it (usually I review, not announce currently reading) I’ll try to remember to come back and put my mini review in the comments. 🎡 𝕿𝖆𝖘𝖙𝖊𝖘 𝕷𝖎𝖐𝖊 𝕮𝖆𝖓𝖉𝖞 2: 𝕾𝖚𝖌𝖆𝖗𝖑𝖊𝖘𝖘 🎡 Earlier this month, while I was browsing KU, I discovered that this book exists....a sequel to my favorite slasher book. So naturally I borrowed and read it immediately... And was SO DISAPPOINTED 😭😭 This book started out soooo good. Part 1 was told in 1st person POV from Dusty's perspective, a teenage girl whose narcissistic mom exploits her for social media content. Along with having some of the shittiest friends, she becomes obsessed with the events that took place in Tastes Like Candy. Oh how I wish Part 1 was just dragged out more and was the entire book. I really had such a good time with it and I liked my predictions better than what actually happened 😅 Part 2 takes a turn...I still enjoyed some parts because I do like Violet as a final girl. But it quickly became way too much, way too out there. Some of it made absolutely no sense to me...it was like Ivy Tholen changed her mind partway through writing and just switched gears. And the ending...the ending left me so confused and not in a good way. I feel like it's setting up for another sequel. Which I will read and hope that it redeems this series for me! Dude Magnet by Gregory Ashe comes out in just one week - right in time for pride month! Dude Magnet is book two in The Last Picks series. This series is very different from his high stakes, intensely angsty series. The Last Picks features cozy mysteries, quirky friends, sass and laugh out loud jokes. Dude Magnet follows our main character, Dash, as he settles into his new, potentially haunted, house, and tries to finally write his novel and avoid any other responsibilities. This goes awry when he is convinced to rent out his new home as a wedding venue and his ex shows up - and is accused of murder! Mushrooms I recently found in my front yard reminded me to review this gem of a tale. A reimagining of Edgar Allan Poe's 'The Fall of the House of Usher' where Kingfisher has crafted a charming and insightful take on the classic. 'What Moves the Dead' celebrates gothic eerie atmosphere, contrasts horror with humour, and explores the many oddities of fungi! Perfectly formatted as a novella for optimum creepy tension, it features a cast of eccentric characters, fantastic pacing, and refreshing wit. This book will grow on you, like fungus! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Megan Fox showcases her wicked humor throughout a heartbreaking and dark collection of poetry. Over the course of more than seventy poems Fox chronicles all the ways in which we fit ourselves into the shape of the ones we love, even if it means losing ourselves in the process. “These poems were written in an attempt to excise the illness that had taken root in me because of my silence. I’ve spent my entire life keeping the secrets of men, my body aches from carrying the weight of their sins. My freedom lives in these pages, and I hope that my words can inspire others to take back their happiness and their identity by using their voice to illuminate what’s been buried, but not forgotten, in the darkness,” says Fox. Pretty Boys Are Poisonous marks the powerful debut from one of the most well-known women of our time. Turn the page, bite the apple, and sink your teeth into the most deliciously compelling and addictive books you’ll read all year. #book #bookstagram #reader #booknerd #booklover #bookrecommendations #booklove #bookcommunity #readmorebooks #readersofinstagram #reading #bookworm #bookreview #bookgram #queerreader #queerreads

✨ Enemies to Lovers by Laura Jane Williams ✨ Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Release Date: August 13th Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Putnam for gifting me an ARC in exchange for an honest review! 🏝️ This book was SO CUTE - I was giggling and kicking my feet. 💕 I loved Florence and Jamie and their slow burn, pining relationship full of insults, petty revenge, and huge miscommunications. 🧠 The mental health representation in this book was really thoughtful and well done, from the family that always feels the need to be their best to how Florence's growth from her breakdown shapes how she navigates her well-meaning family's unintentional missteps to the space she holds for Jamie when he needs it, to the way it adds depth to the relationship that has broken and begins to reform. ❤️ Enemies to Lovers is a must read if you love pining, yearning, miscommunication, international romance, family drama/trauma, and brother's best friend tropes. ✨Blurb✨ Flo's highly strung. Over-achiever. And desperate for a relaxing Greek holiday with her family. Jamie's her brother's best friend. Pain in the arse. And somehow on Flo’s relaxing Greek holiday too… With two surprise weeks of sharing meals, boat trips and sun-loungers, Flo must endure the company of this irksomely chiseled Lothario. But after what happened last year, she’s determined not to let him get the better of her. In fact, spending time with the enemy will be the perfect cure for Flo's all-consuming anger towards Jamie, right?
