💚 M A Y    W R A P 💚 May was two weeks of solid rain, thankfully followed by some late Autumn sunshine to make up for it. It was a slow slog to the finish line for my last month of work before maternity leave. It was a beautiful baby shower from my colleagues. It was several trips to the toilet each night (hello third trimester/a taste of what's to come🤪). Family-wise we hit a couple of milestones: my five year old son started soccer (we'll forget the first week's horror-show) and he started catching the bus to school and thinks it's the best.  May was another mixed bag on the reading front. My favourite read of the month was Safe Haven which I highly recommend! Thunderhead was another excellent piece of writing from an Australian author. Non-fiction wise I really enjoyed Good Morning, Monster.  I kick off my maternity leave in June with a weekend trip to Bowral and then hopefully a few weeks of rest, relaxation and reading (also birth/meal prep etc) before our family of three becomes four!  Did you have a standout read for May? What are you looking forward to in June?  #maywrap #mayreads #flatlay #safehaven #thunderhead #allthewordsweknow #goodmorningmonster #wifedom #thesaltpath #sixtysummers  #bookwrapup #bookpics #bookstagram #booklove #readingbooks #bibliophile

These are our Saltlines... A Saltlinestour is something I anticipate with the greatest of pleasure, and something that I am always sad to see come to an end. With only two more dates left in the Diary, we have to hold on to each precious moment and be present enough to experience it fully. I loved a message we received yesterday "What a superb gig in Worthing on Tuesday…words fail me, but my heart expanded to embrace the world". That's how to feel Saltlines. So tonight, 31/05 we are in the Cotswolds ❤️ How lovely is that? The venue is the Subscription Rooms in Stroud, built in 1833 by public subscription, hence its name. Fun fact: The Beatles played there on 31st March 1962. Then tomorrow, 1st of June, we head to the venue that hosted the first ever Saltlines performance, the @brewhouselive Taunton, before we commenced our glorious tour of the SW Coast Path in July 2022. A few tickets left at each venue. #saltlines #gigspannerbigband #raynorwinn #raynorwinnauthor #saltpath #thesaltpath #subscriptionroomsstroud #brewhousetaunton #southwestcoastpath

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 I bought this only because I saw a woman in Blackwell’s buying three copies at once, and that was reason enough for me… The Salt Path is the perfect short book - any longer and it would run the risk of getting tedious. I was just as on edge with this book as I would be reading a crime/thriller, and Winn does such a brilliant job of communicating how much is at risk for herself and her husband throughout their walk, whilst also making the narrative hilarious. This is also probably the closest thing I’ve ever read to nature writing, and I loved that element of the book, especially because Winn’s journey along the Salt Path is so close to me in the South West! #bookstagram #bookstagramuk #thesaltpath #raynorwinn

Wellbeing Wednesday-took myself out for a late lunch to Dancing Ledge. I saw so many different sea birds, butterflies, bugs, wild flowers (bee orchids!) and deer. I love this time of year out on the coast path. Late spring… early summer … What a time to be alive 💚. #naturestherapy #beoutside #scatteredseeds #sunshineonmymind #thesaltpath #dorsetcoast

Book 20 of 2024 | The Salt Path by @raynor.winn 📚 My goodness! What a glorious and gorgeous read. I finished 'The Salt Path' with a full heart yesterday. After having it on my peripheral vision since it's publication in 2018 (forever late to the party), I absolutely wolfed the book down over the course of four days; absolutely falling in love with it. Having thoroughly enjoyed @katherinemay_ ‘s book, 'The Electricity of Every Living Thing' which centered around her journey on the South West Coastal path whilst contemplating neurodivergence, this book, with a similar journey at its core had me intrigued and certainly didn't disappoint. The motivation behind the 630-mile exploration in TSP is the loss of the author, her husband's and, consequently, their adult children's home and then closely followed by a tragic terminal diagnosis. The book is life-affirming and beautifully yet simply written (too much floral prose is not my person bag), centered around Winn, her husband Moth and their indisputable adoration of one another. It is an unpretentious account of absolute tenacity in the face of insurmountable challenges whilst often being very refreshing light and funny (I particularly enjoyed the 'Simon' mistaken identity passages as a scarred teenager of the AQA Anthology and guessed immediately who the 'Simon' in question was). I loved the descriptions of the path and enjoyed following the map at the front of the book. I have not been lucky enough to explore that part of the world in full just yet, but when we finally(!) take a trip to see our very special friends in Plymouth at the end of this year I will inevitably be trying to drag my family along at least a small section of the path to relive the magic of 'The Salt Path'. *PLOT SPOILER* The last fifty pages of the book were read with suspended breath, awaiting the very worst but I was delighted to discover that despite diagnosis, Moth continues to live and thrive post-publication (and a few more besides which I am excited to read hopefully sooner rather than later). The happiest of endings for this beautiful book.

Lost my reading flow but it’s back thanks to this recommendation from colleagues. @raynor.winn and her husband lose their home and livelihood, he is diagnosed with a terminal illness and they decide to to walk the 630 mile South West Coast Path with pretty much no money and wild camping along the way. The book has a lovely rhythm despite covering all the extremes of human emotion and situation and all the extremes of nature, interspersed with insights to the what and whys of homelessness. Tempted to read her next two books but might leave a gap as I have a habit of loving a book and then becoming saturated by over-reading the same author! #books #reading #bookstagram #booksofinsta #bookreview #booksofinstagram #bookstagrammer #readmorebooks #currentlyreading #thesaltpath

The true story of a couple who lost everything and embarked on a transformative journey walking the south west coast path in England. Just days after Raynor Winn learns that Moth, her husband of thirty-two years, is terminally ill, their house and farm are taken away, along with their livelihood. With nothing left and little time, they make the brave and impulsive decision to walk the 630 miles of the sea-swept South West Coast Path, from Somerset to Dorset, through Devon and Cornwall. Carrying on their backs only the essentials for survival, they live wild in the ancient, weathered landscape of cliffs, sea, and sky. Yet through every step, every encounter, and every test along the way, their walk becomes a remarkable and life-affirming journey. Powerfully written and unflinchingly honest, The Salt Path is ultimately a portrayal of home—how it can be lost, rebuilt, and rediscovered in the most unexpected ways. You don’t have to be a hiker to enjoy the many pleasures of this memoir. It becomes more and more interesting and memorable with every page you turn. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #thesaltpath #raynorwinn #southwestcoasttrail #hikersheaven #hikingthebritishcountryside #memoir #cornwall #hikingaroundengland #cliffsseaandsky #penguinbooks #internationalbestseller #booksjudyreads #bookjudyrecommends #bibliophilelife

Went to see Saltlines last night @artsatstgeorges Beckenham. Was a lovely collaboration of prose and music which captured the essence of the sea beautifully, with particular reference to the South West Coastal Path. Author Raynor Winn’s narration was captivating! The Gigspanner Band played music which was both hypnotic, atmospheric and haunting. You were taken on a journey and it felt as though you were witnessing the waves, the spray of the sea, the sounds of nature, the tin mines and loss of the tin mines and so much more! A celebration of a beautiful rural community that has seen its share of troubled times but which has a real sense of community. This was social history and natural history combined. A lovely evening out and a beautiful performance! Thank you @raynor.winn and @peterknightsgigspanner and @artsatstgeorges for a great night! Wish you every success on the rest of the tour! 👏🏻🙏❤️ #saltlines #southwestcoastpath #sea #sealovers #folkmusic #thesaltpath

The Salt Path follows a trail around the Western Coast, which several of our members were familiar with. Rosie had recently been to The Lizard in Cornwall where this shot was taken from. This story based on real life sparked discussions on what we’d do in their situation and what items we’d spend our limited funds on to survive. It also gave us such an urge to get outside and explore as we were currently stuck indoors due to lockdown. Great choice by Suzie (@suzrolfe)! Hosted online on zoom. 9. The Salt Path by Raynor Winn Based on a true story, The Salt Path is a story of grief and resilience. Just days after Raynor learns her husband of 32 years is terminally ill, they lose their home and livelihood. Rather than turn to their family for help, they embark on a 630 mile walk around the South West Coast Path from Somerset to Dorset. 🌊 Travelling light with only the essentials on their backs, and limited funds for food, they rely on the sea and sky to get them through. #TheSaltPath #NatureHealing #Resilience #LoveAndLoss #BookClub #MordenBookClub #Morden #SouthLondon #London #Books #BookWorm #RaynorWinn #BookAwards #GoodBooks

If you follow @edgelarks (Hannah Martin and Phillip Henry) page, or @raynor.winn Instagram account, you will know that there have been traumas of various types to be negotiated before and during this SALTLINES tour, as there were on the recent Trio tour, although they were 'unpublished' ones...so I think everyone in the Band has been dealing with something other than the business of getting on with playing music in an unencumbered fashion. But that is life and it doesn't stand still or coat us in a protective layer, of course. So a day off to unwind, is vey welcome now! The amazing thing is that no one would know once the show starts, and they have been three very special ones so far. Thank you if you were at @carnglazecaverns @exmouthpavilion or @marinetheatrelymeregis Something that I do love about Saltlines is that the average age of the audience reduces considerably, and last night was the first time I had ever seen anyone standing on their seats during the end of show standing ovation. If you want to give that a go, don't let me stand in your way! Tomorrow, 22nd of May, we return #huntingdonhall in Worcester, the scene of this photo, and there are a few seats still to be had. It's worth checking the gallery out if you want a good view. #saltlines #gigspannerbigband #thegigspannerbigband #raynorwinn #raynorwinnauthor #saltpath #thesaltpath #southwestcoastpath #prose #proseandmusic #huntingdonhall #huntingdonhallworcester #touringlife

Twelve books on Tuesday-water on the cover. I absolutely love some of these covers, something about water clearly makes for an excellent cover. And there are some much loved books here too. Boats feature on several of these covers including the evocatively named Dawn Treader and Surfrider (the book in Run Away Home) and I love both those covers. In The Load of Unicorn, the import of paper is a crucial plot point as William Caxton’s new printing business is threatened by others who try to prevent paper getting to him. From boats to boathouse and Agatha Christie’s Dead Man’s Folly in which a body is found at the boathouse, inspired by the one at her own house-Greenway. Swimming is also a key aspect of several of these books. In The Paper Palace (which I actually didn’t enjoy very much) the main character’s mother tells her that ‘There are two things in life you never regret-a baby and a swim.’ And the final Malory Towers book features Amanda, an excellent swimmer who wants to be in the Olympics. Also the swimming pool at Malory Towers, built into the sea, always sounds amazing. One non fiction-The Salt Path by Raynor Winn about her and her very ill husband, who have just been made homeless, walking the South West Coast Path around Cornwall. I love the cover with the stylised quite similar to those on The Bull from The Sea (continuing the story of Theseus). Another book inspired by the classics-Percy Jackson, Son of Neptune, part of the second series in which both Greek and Roman mythology are explored. And for modern day me more recent Greek history-The Thread, by Victoria Hislop and Thessaloniki. And obviously I love the cover of The Shell Seekers, and clear from the state of the book how often it has been read. #twelvebooksontuesday #flatlaybooks #bookflatlay #bookstagramchallenge #bookchallenge #bookcover #coverillustration #narnia #percyjackson #antoniaforest #thesaltpath #raynorwinn #childrensbookstagram #maryrenault #greekmythology #lucindariley #cynthiaharnett #booksbooksbooks #enidblyton #agathachristie #herculepoirot #agathachristiespoirot #rosamundepilcher #theshellseekers #historicalfiction #fiction

Are you planning to see the new Australian film 'The Way, My Way', about the Camino de Santiago walk? And have you read the wonderful - and true - story, The Salt Path? And seen these two other films, both worth watching ... if you enjoy hiking/rambling/tramping, do have a look at these; either read them for the great adventures they are, or watch them on screen (Timothy Spall is always wonderful) - either way, you will find them rewarding. #thesaltpath #thelastbusmovie #theunlikelypilgrimageofharoldfry

After a long, tiresome trial with a former friend, Moth and Ray lose their home that also provided their income. On top of that, Moth is diagnosed with CBD, a disease that‘ll lead to his death. 🥾 50 pounds a week is all that the couple in their fifties have left. Instead of applying for a council house, they decide to walk the South West Coast Path, opting for wild camping along the route. Moth has mobility issues, but they want to give the hike a try nevertheless. 🏕️ The story is autobiographical and is set in a formidable landscape. However, the weather conditions are often far from ideal: the scorching sun, hail, storms and rain - Ray and Moth have to deal with all of that. Given their tight budget noodles often are the only thing they can afford, a cherished Mars bar or a bag of chips is a luxury. Hunger is a constant companion and access to toilets and showers is severely limited. 🥾 While hiking and figuring out their future, the readers are also confronted with the perception of homeless people. It’s quite a difference if the couple tell people that they sold their home to do the trip instead of having lost it. Along the way, Moth and Ray sometimes experience random acts of kindness, but also meet people who are down on their luck. Sleeping rough in a city for the first time, they learn about the competition to even find a place to sleep and they don’t feel safe at all for the first time on their trip. 🏕️ This memoir brought back a lot of memories as I’ve been to some places on their route and encountered some cheeky seagulls, too. It also reminded me of hikes in the South Downs and doing the Camino Inglés with a friend. However, I always had a roof over my head and a hot shower to look forward, too. The journey Moth and Ray took - it left a huge impression on me! 🥾 Thanks to @madamebiscuit15 ❤️ for our buddy read. I loved discussing the memoir with you! I think it really broadened our perspective. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. 🏕️ 🏕️ [unpaid ad/not sponsored] #thesaltpath #raynorwinn #mothwinn #bookstagram #thesouthwestcoastpath #weymouth #poole #cornwall #hikingadventures #britishliterature #wainwrightprize #costabookawards #sundaytimesbestseller #booksbooksbooks

This amazing lady I know sent me a book last year called #thesaltpath and I was totally and utterly swept up in the (true) story of Raynor and Moth. Ray has since written other stories detailing their adventures and as Julie, pictured here with her said - it's like you know them personally and they feel like friends. Going to see @peterknightsgigspanner Saltines was a birthday present for Julie and I had no expectations but my word it was beautiful. I rarely cry listening to music but there were a few folk songs here that really touched me and the intensity and emotions were so strong. The Salt Path ⛺️ Apparently, I have been in some sort of memoir phase the last couple of weeks, but honestly, this one hit different. "Fear of the homeless is as commonplace now as it has ever been, with a widespread belief that anyone who is homeless must be an alcoholic, drug abuser or suffering mental health issues." 💔 The first part of the book made me so incredibly angry, as the amount of injustice and complete lack of empathy by the justice system seeps through the pages. And then it hit me: this could happen to literally any of us. 🥺 Raynor and Moth learn that Moth is terminally ill and to make matters worse, they lose their house, their home. So what do you do next? You walk. You take whatever you can carry and walk. 🥾 "What to do in the menopause: become homeless and walk 630 miles with a rucksack on your back. Ideal." The story of Raynor and Moth takes us along the South West Coastal Path, where they will walk, sleep in a tent, meet various types of people (horrible and lovely ones), and where they have to decide what to do next. The whole book is an emotional rollercoaster, as the story is terribly sad and painfully real, but at times, it is also very funny. 🩷 There are quite some people who have criticised the book for its style and the way it was written. I, however, feel that when you are talking about a memoir or autobiography, the author's style should be theirs. Authentic. Real. Raynor, you've done an amazing job. 👌🏼 Apart from talking about their situation and the journey they embark on, Raynor also gives us some insight into the current situation of homeless people in the UK. Which is, I think, quite similar to a lot of other places in the world. It's so sad to see that we give value to someone, solely on the fact of where they live and if they have a house. People deserve more. Fortunately, towards the end of the book, my faith in humanity is restored for a little bit. 🥰 ▪︎ Have you read The Salt Path or any other of Raynor Winns books? I took five books to the Lakes with me and managed to read three of them, finishing this on the train from Penrith to Birmingham New Street 🚂. Not bad! (I'm going to ignore the fact I bought six books whilst there...shh 🤫📚) . I love books like this: the slower pace may be boring to some but I absolutely love reading about people making connections to nature, exploring and just existing. I feel modern day life provides so little time for 'just existing' that we easily forget how beautiful the world around us is and just how simple life can be, or, dare I say it, is meant to be. Books like this help calm my daily anxieties. . This book made me cry in the first chapter. The story of how Winn and her husband end up homeless and on the coastal path is heart breaking. However, the crying stopped there as this couple walked through everything to find themselves exactly where they were meant to be 💚. . I recommend this book if you enjoy the slower pace book or if you are interested in long distance backpacking, or even understanding another perspective to homelessness. They aren't all drunkards and druggies, in fact, not many of them are. I will be reading Winn's second book 'The Wild Silence' now! 🥰📚 . Main takeaway from this is: Be kind. Always. You've no idea what people are going through. . #thesaltpath #bookrecommendations #coastalpath #hiking #book #bookstagram #raynorwinn #adventure #homelessness #reading #mayread #may #spring #springread #nature #outdoors #friday

🌊 THE SALT PATH 🌊 // Raynor Winn 'I think it's extreme physio. Maybe I'll have to keep walking all my life.'  I've read the second book so thought I better backtrack and read the first, to find out where it all began! The Salt Path is about Raynor and her husband Moth who in their early 50's, suddenly face a series of unfortunate events: they not only lose their home and livelihood but Moth is also devastatingly diagnosed with a rare degenerative brain disease. Homeless, they impulsively decide to walk England's 630-mile South West Coast Path free-camping with barely enough money for food. Ray documents their epic journey and the result is a fascinating tale of homelessness, endurance and ultimately hope. As mentioned in my review of The Wild Silence, the fact that Moth's condition improved with the hike piqued my interest as a physio and only increased my belief in the benefit of intense exercise for those with similar neurological diseases (i.e. Parkinsons). The book also made me want to get outdoors and go for a hike (though currently being in the third trimester that also sounds like a form of torture).  'Only one thing was real, more real to me now than the past we'd lost or the future we didn't have: if I put one foot in front of another, the path would move me forward and a strip of dirt often no more than a foot wide, had become home.'  🌊 Read:  - if you liked Wild by Cheryl Strayed, A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson or Tracks by Robyn Davidson  - if you love a good memoir  #bookreview #thesaltpath #raynorwinn #nonfiction #memoir #bookstagram #booklove #justread #booktrovert #bookfeature  #bookcoverlove #bookpics #bookworld #readingwomen #readtheworld #bookescape

📚 Three for Thursday- This week it’s three non-fiction books that I’m keen to read soon. I’m not a huge non-fiction reader but that’s something I’d like to change. I’m wondering about tying to read one, slow time, over a couple of months. . QOTD: Do you read / listen to non-fiction? . . . #thesaltpath #raynorwinn #raynorwinnauthor #katherinemay #henriettalacks #nonfiction #ukbookstagram #ukbookstagramer

Sunrise 20k trailrun on the South West Coast Path. Running in Cornwall makes me so happy. And this path is just magical. I’d love to all the 630 miles someday.

We knew that Saltlines would be perfectly and beautifully at home on the spectacular cliffs of the @minacktheatre in Cornwall, and so for this tour we are taking it to another iconic and atmospheric Cornish venue...@carnglazecaverns, and are going underground on the 18th of May. It's an exciting prospect for us, and we hope too for the Cornish audiences, where prose written and performed by @raynor.winn will wrap around the tunes and songs collected from this mystical section of 'The Salt Path'. It's the first date of an exciting tour, and you can "feel the heather around your feet, smell the salt on the air" at these venues... Running the South West Coast Path in Cornwall, I’m just in awe of anybody running it hiking the whole way (630 mile). It’s stunning, but tough. So much elevation (the whole route is like going up Everest 4 times). Can’t wait to explore more 🙂 #thesaltpath #southwestcoastpath #cadgwith #cadgwithcove #cornwall #cornwallcoast #trailrunningcornwall #trailrunning

May hopefuls The Salt Path - this one has been on my shelves for a couple of years (at least!) My aunty is currently walking the South West Coast Path, so it seemed like a good time to read it! I started it last night and the first couple of chapters had me crying buckets 😭 The ABC Murders - this month's pick for #readchristie2024 and already finished! I had it on audible, and it was a lovely quick listen. Anne of Windy Poplars + Anne's House of Dreams - I skipped last months book in the #allaboutanne group as there was just too much going on. I'm hoping to catch up this month. Britt-Marie was Here - a buddy read officially starting on Monday, but I've got a relatively quiet weekend, so making a sneaky early start! I'm also hoping to practice some self control this month and not buy any more books (except on one day, where I'm visiting my favourite bookshop as a birthday treat!) I took 16 books to the charity shop this morning, and it doesn't seem to have made much difference to the fullness of my shelves! . . . #thesaltpath #theabcmurders #anneofwindypoplars #anneshouseofdreams #brittmariewashere #mayhopefuls #bookstack #saturdaystack #saturdaybookstack

Book Review 📖 The Wild Silence By Raynor Winn Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I read The Salt Path and adored it, so I couldn’t wait to read this. But it fell a little flat for me. I felt like this one was a mash up of bits and bobs, jumping backwards and forwards and it just didn’t flow. There were some really interesting and heartfelt topics; - Her mum suffering from a stroke and dying. - Her writing The Salt Path and it getting published. - Moths initial symptoms before being diagnosed with CD. - Winns memories of the start of her relationship with Moth. - Winn & Moth being offered a battered farm in Cornwall and how they brought the farm back to life. I think I’d have preferred this if it had been essays or diary entries maybe, rather than a disjointed novel. Such a shame as I loved the first one, I will say the last section of their walk through Iceland reminded me of The Salt Path due to it concentrating on their walk and journey. So I really enjoyed the last section. I will read her latest novel Landlines as well, but I will say, I think The Salt Path set a bar for me and this didn’t hit the same mark. . . . #Nature #TheSaltPath #RaynorWinn #WildCamping #booktock #bookstagramer #booklover #fiction #booksta #bookreview #bookstgram #books #bookstagrammer #bookstagramuk #bookaddict #booknerd #bookworm #read #bookblogger #readersofinstagram #booksofig #goodreads #goodreadschallenge2024 #lovebooks #bookishgirl  #bookstachallenge #coolbookcovers #kindlebooks #paperback #hardback

Two amazing books written by two amazing women… At the moment my reading obsession is ✨Books About Walking✨ and these two books have absolutely been scratching that itch. Both of these memoirs are so full of heart, hope, struggle, healing and resilience and have both been absolute food for my soul. Wild is, of course, the memoir of Cheryl Strayed as she unpreparedly hikes the PCT in a desperate attempt to rediscover herself after being ravaged by grief, loss and addiction. It’s a powerful and inspiring story full of the beauty and terror of the American wilderness, and the beauty and terror of stripping your life back to whatever you can carry on your back and going off alone with yourself to face all those uncomfortable things that only solitude and zero distraction reveals… an amazing book that’s been on my tbr for so long, I’m so happy to have finally read it! Landlines is the third book from The Salt Path author Raynor Winn and this time, Raynor and her husband Moth head to Scotland to hike the Cape Wrath trail as Moth’s condition of CBD (a neurodegenerative disease) seems to be escalating quickly since adopting a slower pace of life… they head out for another long walk in the hopes that time in the wilderness, and daily strenuous activity will help Moth’s condition like it did when they hiked the South West Coast Path… I just adore Ray’s writing so so much I feel like I’m out on the Scottish Highlands with this utterly loveable pair of humans (who I have had the pleasure of meeting irl and can say yes, they are amazing humans in reality too!) Oh so moving and full of so much hope, with beautiful observations of the natural world and astute environmental comments that leave real food for thought. It’s not very often I get hooked into non-fiction but at the moment I am utterly addicted to reading about the great outdoors and loving every page of what I’m reading and feeling real connection again to the world around me as I read these amazing stories… Some snaps included from one of my recent walks with my little coast path buddy 💙

New books! 📚 . Four of these I found in charity shops (less than £2 each) and the other two I got in #Waterstones (I was going to be good but then my husband bought some Lego and the shop assistant had to go and look for it, which left me alone for too long and ooops #StephenKing 's '11.22.63' and Amor Towles 'A Gentleman in Moscow' ended up at the check out 🤷 so, technically, it's my husband's fault... Right? 😎😝) . So, here's me with six more books to add to my TBR pile and I'm not even sad about it. In fact, I am extremely happy 😁📚 . This large piece of wood drifted on to Porlock marsh during the recent 11m plus tides, but never seen anything this big this far inland before? Last night was a 9.6m tide, which wouldn’t normally cover the boardwalk, especially with a higher barometric pressure. Is this evidence of rising tides? #porlockmarsh #porlock #porlockweir #boardwalk #swcp #thesaltpath #saltmarsh #sunsetseason #lurcher #lurchersofinstagram #sunsetlovers #visitexmoor #discoverporlock

For company in the tent, I read "The Salt Path", recommended by a friend over eighteen months ago. I saved it specifically to accompany me on this walk. It is the story of Moth and her terminally ill husband, who'd also lost their home and livelihood. An inspiring story of human endurance, strength and determination, walking along the entire 630-mile trail, it made our effort look like a walk in the park 🫶 #southwestcoastalpath #coastpath #coastalwalks #cornwall #thesaltpath #walking

What book has been on your TBR for a while? For me it's #thesaltpath and I know I will read this one day, maybe soon, but the overall theme is so serious and sad I can't quite bring myself to just yet. However the nature writing is meant to be lovely so I'd like to get to this pretty short novel sometime soon 😊 🌊 #bookstagram #booklover #books #bookreviews #kindle #bookblog #instabooksuk #instabookstagrammer #ukbookblogger #ukbookstagram #bookreviews #outlander #harrypotter #reader #historicalfiction #book #romcom #harrypotter #fantasybooks #Acotar #writer #aspiringauthor #romance #romantasy #darkfantasy #fallreads #kindlegirlie

Book 7 of 2024 , completed and I LOVED it . Thoroughly recommend this one , and I have done to so many people ,they are now queuing up outside my door to read it 🤣😂. Anyway when I went to town on Saturday I found another copy in another charity shop so that will ease the pressure a little bit 🤣😂. Going to Messy church tonight so taking a copy with me to give to @mamareav she is first in line . Fingers crossed she likes it too , by the way its a true story x #raynorwinn #thesaltpath #truestory #lovereading #lovemybooks

A little rainy Sunday inspiration. This cottage (called #prospectcottage) in Kent, UK was owned by artist Derek Jarman before he and his partner passed away. It is now run and conserved by @creativefstone as an artist residency and garden. There’s something about that bright yellow trim against the austere dark, weathered walls with a wild natural backdrop (and a cultivated garden) that feels so resonant. A mashup of a lot of things but still beautifully simple. I also have landscapes like this on my mind after reading #thesaltpath by @raynor.winn, a true story about a couple in their mid fifties who lose their home and livelihoods unexpectedly then decide to walk and camp the South West Coast Path in England.

🛍️Latest Purchases🛍️ Couldn’t resist treating myself yet again. I had been wondering about The Salt Path for a while, so when I saw it for £2 in a charity shop, I couldn’t really say no! And I’ve been thinking about my big end of year project, basically my dissertation, and have been trying to find some books which are related to my idea - so I bought In Ascension. But, I did have a £10 Waterstones voucher, so all in all, I don’t think I did too bad!
