Ruck #143 was really late, got home from work and headed straight over to the baseball fields as my oldest and middle boys had games. My oldest boy had a great hit today and stole 2nd base and then stole 3rd base by sliding in, I saw a quickness in him I’ve never seen before. My middle boy and his team clinched 3rd place in the league and are headed to the city tournament, definitely a proud Dad moment for me today with both of my boys. Ruck #142 was at a slower pace, but I fulfilled my promise to my middle son and we completed 2.75 miles and had some great one on one time with one another. We talked a lot about his day, and I gave him positive reinforcement that he can do hard things. He achieved over 11k steps today which is great for a 6 year old. He loved rucking with his new KR1 ruck from @goruck and he rucked with 5lbs while I rucked with my usual 45lb ruck. The hour and 9ish minutes I got to spend with him was pure bliss after a long 13 hour workday today. I’ll make up my usual daily mileage before the end of the week. I was however still out in the heat for baseball practice with my oldest son. My oldest son was so eager to go on a ruck with his new KR1 ruck from @goruck and asked @_jdsmall personally if he could go on the @theforgehq Sunday morning walk about. Ruck #139 done with a 45lb ruck after a great turnout for @rigscoffee and then it was off to the ball field for a full day of baseball in 98 degree heat. The games started out with a loss for my older son’s team, however he hit both times again at bat today, had a great play and center field, fell short of catching a pop fly ball while playing first base, and then did really well behind the plate at catcher where he played the majority of the game. Then my middle son won his first game of his double header and fell short the second game as there was only an hour in between games, but hit really well all day. Then my youngest played well for his T-Ball game and pretty much summed up our entire day of being in the heat and finally calling it a day at 18,956 steps later. I’ve really had to lean on my mental toughness this week and todays ruck was one with no headphones, no distractions, just the sound of the rain and channeling my inner thoughts and trying to find solutions to some of those. That is a huge part that is necessary to be mentally tough, I definitely had a clear head at the end and also had a good conversation with a guy in the neighborhood that was impressed with me rucking in the rain and that he sees me rucking around the area everyday. One of the hardest things I’ve ever done! #IRONMAN 70.3 Gulf Coast Holy Mother of Stupid Ideas!! 😅 I decided last year, I was going to do this…. Went and told Jace about it, and felt committed! Well, I came up with my own plan to prepare, and then didn’t do any of it… 🥱🫣🤣 Instead I was at @hotworxdestin 🥵every day sweatin and puttin cycle and row work in! I hired Martin at Destin Health & Fitness to help. I spent countless nights at @aintlifecool 🥶recovering with red light, cryo, compression, and prayer!🙏🏼 Thank goodness for @robinsbikes!! 🚴 They were so great to me!! Big leg day Friday. Did my regular leg day workout. Then did a mile of walking lunges, about half was up hill, and then finished it off with a mile run. Full leg day workout: Squats: 1x1, 3x3 pause rep backdowns Hack squats: 4x5 Horizontal leg press: 4x20 ^ weight each set Leg extensions: 3x15 Single leg standing ham curls: 3x15 each Standing calf raises: 5x15 The mile of walking lunges was probably one of the hardest things I’ve done mentally. The body is an amazing machine if you don’t let your mind get in the way. Your body and mind will play tricks on you to give in way before your body is actually finished. It can be pushed. You just have to control your mind to be able to go there. How far are you willing to really push yourself, how far into the pain will go, ask yourself the next time you’re pushing your body to its limits. I may not be doing 75 hard right now but once you’ve done it, it truly never leaves. The mentality always sticks around. Ruck #130 went the extra mile today to bring my yearly rucking total to 600 miles! Another ruck with 45lbs that closed out an awesome night of baseball for my oldest boy and the team I’m the assistant coach of. Couldn’t be more proud of my oldest boy as he earned his way up to the top of the batting line up with his most recent 10 at bats he’s hit 8 times, walked once and struck out once. He’s also became a well rounded player at catcher, 3rd base, Center Field, and now 1st base with two outs on 1st base tonight and catching every pitch as catcher tonight as well. We also had a kid hit a home run tonight and the same kid pitched a short no hitter as pitcher, plus another kid hit a grand slam to close out the night with a W winning the game that was tied going into the bottom of the 3rd inning with us winning 9-5 and brining our winning streak to 2 in a row after a long losing streak. Couldn’t be more proud of these boys and their hard work! I am blessed and highly favored!! What's up, social media land?! It's been a little bit! This last week or two hasn't been easy for me. However, i am truly blessed to be able to lead the life I do. I have a big day coming up on Monday and some other big stuff in the works, so any thoughts, prayers, or positive vibes would be greatly appreciated. 🙏 The universe has provided me so much here lately that it's overwhelming to me. I never thought you could have too many good things!! This week and even at the start of this year, it wasn't like that. I was very much stuck in a "why don't good things happen to me?" Place. When I get to a place, I think back to a wise quote I once heard. "Life doesn't have any filters. It's more like a funnel. What you put in the top is what you get out of the bottom." I really got to thinking about what I was putting into my life, instead of what I was getting. This year, I've been really proud of what I've been pouring back into people. Sometimes, it's obvious, and a lot of the times people will never know what I've hopefully done to make their lives better. But I know when I started making these investments, the universe started paying me back. So if you're in a rough spot, try giving. We are 5 weeks into the @1stphorm Spring Srint Transformation Challenge! I did another body scan this past weekend! I am so excited that my hard work is paying off! I down 80.7 pounds since starting my second transformation back on July 12th, 2022! More importantly than anything though I am feeling so much more stronger! Ruck #127 was a good ruck as I ran into someone I know in the neighborhood and was able to share what rucking is as he is still trying to recovery from a knee surgery he had some time last year. It’s always fun to share something you are passionate about. Learned quite a bit about him in the quick 10 minutes we talked while I rucked and he walked. My non-negotiable stack when it comes to post workout 🙌🏼 Are you extremely sore after the gym or struggling to see results? While we all enjoy getting after it in the gym it is important to remember that we are only beating our body up in there and that we need to properly recover to see the best results possible! My favorite quote is “train hard, recover harder!” ⛽️ When working out, we actually create two problems that we need to solve as quickly as possible for optimal recovery: - We deplete our muscle glycogen (energy) - We create micro tears in our muscle To solve problem #1, we want a high glycemic carbohydrate such as Ignition to go in and stop the breakdown and replenish that energy we burned with nutrients that will also assist with reducing soreness! Ruck #126 was a slow, but good ruck with my oldest son and our Doodles Mahomie and newest edition Kelce. Trying to ruck with the 3 of them with a 45lb ruck was a bit of a struggle in the beginning, but got better by about the midway point of our ruck. Considering this was Kelce’s first true walk, he did really well plus I got to spend time with my son and teach him how to handle Mahomie on the lead as well.
