MIND YOUR STEP ๐3400 ft ๐ฆ๏ธ 43-63F ๐24lb Itโs banana slug season, watch your step. These little creatures are fascinating. Large and gooey, slow and slimy. Views from the gully ~ Our original plan was to summit Sutton Peak, but with a massive ice cornice spanning the top of the gully (seen in photo 2) we opted for a safer route to a high point with no over head hazards. There was still some snow on the actual AZT, but even more of a hinderance were all the downed trees. I decided to take the popular route this time of year and road walk the majority of the day. โข This had its perks. Not even 5 miles in, I passed by the northern rim general store. It had yet to open for the season, but the extremely kind owner had the door unlocked and was there to refill my water and let me use the restroom. With that pleasant boost, the rest of the roadwalking passed by quickly enough, and I made it to camp for the night before 6:00, a cozy place in the pine needles near a pit toilet. โข Day 55 | 27.8 | Knightโs Inn, Page The final day! It was another cold start: the water in my bottle froze upon opening it for my first drink of the day. There was a little rain in the forecast, but I managed to avoid it all the way until the last couple miles. โข The day itself was simple enough: flat terrain, shade, and water conveniently spaced. On the final descent to the Utah border, thunder crashed around me and I picked up my pace as I lightly jogged in the rain. I really struggled this time around but focusing on building up my business helped me immensely. 2๏ธโฃ Being a little lost feels very, very scary but it also opens up a whole world of possibilities. Itโs the ultimate chance to do things differently and to shape your life the way you truly want it to be. If you donโt know where life is leading you, you can take over the steering wheel and DECIDE. 3๏ธโฃ Time with friends and family feels 100 times more special when you missed them for a long time ๐ฅฐ๐ซถ๐ผ 4๏ธโฃ The travel spirit fades after a while. Things arenโt as spontaneous at home and you probably arenโt either. Thatโs okay. 5๏ธโฃ and finally Iโve learned that the water is greener where you water it. I canโt put all my energy in finding an office job for the sake of making money, if I would love to be selfemployed. Instead I pour my heart, time and soul in my business and water it โบ๏ธ. Those past 5 months have been a wild ride of challenges, happiness, sadness and growth. Yesterday I turned 25 years old and in my 25 years of life, I think this might just be the best birthday ever. I get to spend it on the tallest peak in New Mexico with some of the coolest people around. I am so grateful and thankful to be here. Up until about two months ago, I had planned to continue my southbound journey on the CDT (not northbound, like Iโm currently doing), as thatโs the way I traveled last year. I had planned to hop on at Lander, WY where I got off last year, and continue walking towards Mexico. I then found out that I broke my back and bruised my liver, from two different snowboard accidents this winter, and I realized that I didnโt want to wait until August to start walking south. Thatโs why I started walking north. Point of the story, life can change in the blink of an eye and so thatโs why Iโm doing it NOW. You shouldnโt wait to do what you love either. Also, donโt tell me to ~be careful~ when Iโm having the time of my life every damn day. ๐ I never knew that a crazy girl doing what she loves, who also happens to enjoy photography, could inspire so many people. I have single dads messaging me about how to get their babies outside. I have grown adults twice my age asking about how to be safe in the outdoors. I meet people who have never walked more than a block outside, but they see my posts and it makes them want to feel the breeze in their hair and the grass brush on their legs. How freaking cool is that!? I love you all, and thank you so much for giving me a space to share some special memories, along with all the silly ones, because for me - thatโs what this life is about. Growing up, I had no idea that THIS was an option. No one showed me, or even mentioned anything about public land and hiking. To all the little boys and girls, and even the adult boys and girls, you too can do it. Girls in skirts who walk across the country are badasses and donโt you ever for a second ask them what the hell theyโre doing. Weโre out here living so hard it hurts. Thank you all who have called and texted with the birthday wishes. I am slowly responding. โค๏ธ

Yen Bai, the last stopover before the final destination of the tour (pic taken in Hanoi). Vietnam Scooter Tour, update 12 ๐ป๐ณโ๏ธ: Tent all packed up, it was time to leave the campsite. The next stop was only a short 15 minute roll down the mountain to a place I named โliminal space hostelโ given the wide, empty space in which I was the only guest. The next day was time for a 4.5 hour journey through the amazing northern Vietnamese valleys, one handed driving so I could film it all (my insurance wouldโve covered that right?). Following this, I arrived into the quiet town of Yen Bai and my cozy private hotel room to recover for the next two nights. There wasnโt much to do in this town so I use this opportunity to catch up on some well needed rest as well as some necessary fixes to the bike. When I asked the mechanic if there was a nearby shop I could buy a coat, given them the colder weather of the north, he took the jacket he was currently wearing and gave it to me, refusing to take any money for it. I still wear this jacket to this day with pride.
