I lived in the desert for 7 years. I hiked trails and stood atop mountains. Took off my boots to feel the cracked earth beneath my feet. I fell in love with lizards and quail. For Haitian Heritage Month, we want to share some really cool things about this country that means so much to us. First up, let's talk about the land. The Republic of Haiti spans the western part of the Island of Hispaniola, located in the Caribbean Sea. If you've visited the island, you're likely familiar with its rugged terrain and mountainous peaks. Cutting between four main mountain ranges are several river valleys, including the dominant Central Plateau, a region of relatively flat to gently rolling terrain. This plateau is an essential agricultural area, supporting much of Haiti's farming activity. Finally, you have the beaches! Haiti has a rocky coastline interspersed with beautiful, white sand beaches and an expansive coral network painting the seas below. This jagged topography creates beautiful vistas, "Mountains beyond Mountains," that extend as far as the eye can see. Nothing gets done by just talking.🫠 Many do not realize that WE prevent ourselves from achieving what we desire. JUST F*****G MOVE AND DO IT ALREADY. Life is peaks and valleys, highs and lows. Hurdles will always present themselves when pursuing self-growth and personal development. 🚨 Make goals and set deadlines. Identify steps needed to achieve what you desire. Move forward. Take action. Don’t take NO as an answer. Take every “loss” as a lesson on how to improve. Do NOT take everything so personally. Learn to be your OWN cheerleader and your only cosign. This post may be a day late but still wanted to post it. My heart breaks for all the Mamas in my life whose hearts have been shattered and ache from the loss of a child! I can’t describe the pain I’ve seen a mother go through and the tears that seem to never end when her precious one was ripped from her arms and left a hole in her heart. The bereaved Mother has experienced the unimaginable and yet she is still able to walk....
