That boy will be the death of me.’ Muttering to herself, Mairi waved one hand on the direction of the sea, her gaze pinned to Stewart who had promised to help her but thus far, had done very little. ‘What is taking you so long? Take the heather rope to the shore to the seawater can strengthen it.’ Stewart shrugged, looked away and then began walking towards the sea. ‘The rope!’ Exasperated, Mairi hurried after him. ‘You have to take the rope with you, remember?’ With another shrug, Stewart took the rope from her and then turned away. Mairi watched him carefully, making sure he took the right path. Everyone knew of Stewart MacKay. He was either lazy, foolish or both for whatever he did and wherever he went, trouble followed after him. He would do so many foolish things, a good many people did their best to avoid him - but Mairi was sure the reason for his foolish ways was an overindulgence in whisky. Seeing him make his way to the shore, Mark turned her back and continued on with her own task. It was not until some hours later than she realised Stewart was nowhere to be seen. Confused and frustrated, she set back to her task, assuming he had found something more important to do than help her. The following morning, however, everyone in the village was growing concerned as to where Stewart might be. Yes, he irritated a good many of them but he was still part of their village. ‘I saw him last down by the shore,’ Mairi told a friend, her face a little pale as they sheltered from a sudden rain showerI -‘ ‘I found Stewart!’ The call of a man’s voice had Mairi’s heart leaping about with excitement. Coming out from under the tree, she gasped in shock as Stewart came alongside the first man, albeit rather wet. ‘’Where have you been, Stewart?’ Her eyes went back to the other man. ‘Where did you find him?’ (Continued in comments)

To take from the land, is to stain it with the dead.” Like many of us, part of what influences my books is the history of our world. The good and the bad. Especially what happened and is happening to many cultures and peoples. The elves in The Verdian Chronicles are no different. Their history stems from a long time massacre and forced relocation from one realm to another. They used to inhabit the entire Iliadian Realm—which is now completely ruled over by the Fae, and they also used to rule side by side with the other kingdoms in the Verdian Realm. Now? Now they only have the Beian territories in one of the continents. All thanks to one King. Because of their past, during and after the Thousand Year War, they are extremely protective of their people, and have done whatever is necessary to keep their people whole. They used to be peaceful, but when you keep breaking a people down, they’re going to retaliate, or make it known that they’re done being pushed around. The other kingdoms stay clear of the Beian Territories, and are often surprised when an Elf is traveling around the world. Should I be worried that I can physically feel this meme? 😅 I’m currently embarking on the 7th draft of my book and am staring down the face of a major rewrite. It’s not an easy thing to do- knowing that I’ll be staring at this book yet again for probably the rest of this year. I don’t know how writing manages to be both terribly exciting and incredibly difficult at the same time, yet here we are. 🤷♀️🤣 There’s something about the 7th draft that feels both easier and harder? Idk. All I know is that this book ain’t gonna write itself. 💪🏻 I’ve learned over the years that I’m a shy writer. I really don’t like to share details about what I’m writing till after I’ve written it. However, I can say that I’m writing an adult dark fantasy with romance and that the rewrite will include bloodline magic! ✨ I’m super excited about it and I’m sure I’ll share more as my enthusiasm grows, but for now “good lucks” and well wishes would be much appreciated. 😂
