📚 Book Review: Heartless Hunter by Kristen Ciccarelli Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 Spice: 🌶️🌶️ What a book! 🤯I was drawn in from the beginning and binged in just a couple of days - which would have been faster if not for all the real life responsibilities that I guess still needed my attention.😆I’m not usually a fan of books about witches, but I was intrigued with all that was a part of this world and was truly hooked from the get go. • This book captures enemies to lovers in the TRUE sense of the word and I was SO drawn into the depth of what this meant for Rune and Gideon. I think it’s best to experience this for yourself and so don’t want to say more than that - but I was COMPLETELY sucked into what would happen next as their relationship evolved. Lots of fire and angst and complication and a very slooooow burn.🔥 • I also loved learning more about both Rune and Gideon’s stories and how this influenced who they were today and why they were choosing to do what they did. This was heartbreaking and sad but also helped me to make sense of why they struggled, even when I was mad at their choices. • All in all, I loved it! You guys! This was my first 5⭐ read this month and it didn't disappoint. Very rarely will you see me fall into an upper YA book, but I had heard all the reviews and TikTok's everyone posted so I just had to pick it up. Once I saw it was finally on KU, I ran so fast to start it and omg it was so good! I'm always a sucker for Witch's but when you mix in a good enemies to lovers back to enemies between a Witch and a Witch Hunter then count me all the way in. Rune as such a strong FMC and as much as I wanted to hate Gideon, I just couldn't do it. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book especially after how it ended. Book Review: Heartless Hunter - Kristen Ciccarelli ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book was more heavy on the romance than the fantasy aspect of the plot, but we love it. The way the plot lines entwined was superb. The relationships were all so well done and the way the characters all behaved with each other were just so perfect. Rune and Gideon are so cute together and I loved their quiet moments together so so much. The world building and magic was all excellent. I especially like the politics of the post-revolutionary world and the way magic played a part in it, or lack thereof I suppose. My only complaint is that I wish we got to see more of Rune using magic, though I do understand she had resource issues. I would have liked her big moment to be a little bigger. She deserved more fanfare. 🖤Heartless Hunter🖤🏹 I finished this yesterday and am honestly still processing! I need a physical copy stat lol I feel like this first book has left me with so many questions but has perfectly set up the second book to answer them (I hope)!! I cried, I giggled, I gasped! This is a fast paced cat & mouse game between a witch and her hunter with so many twists & turns. I felt it had so many possibilities, I suspected all characters at some point 🫣 At times your really don’t know who to trust and the author makes you second guess yourself about the characters true nature!! The ending was so good (I did predict the final twist) but I really didn’t want to put down this book and I need people to talk about this with so read the book 😉🫶🏼 P.s. Can you spot my butterfly ice cubes lol obviously not a moth but it’s the best I can do 😂

MY. HEART. This is one of the few 5 stars of this year. I was hesitant to be excited because that system has failed me lately. I was not let down. 😮💨 This was TENSE. It was emotional. It was witchy. And it’s not going to be a long series !! It’s a duology (which I’m HERE for). Honestly, this book was written perfectly for my tastes. It has TRUE conflict and not just a miscommunication. You truly cannot see how the characters can be together, but you definitely want them to be. It has enemies to lovers. It has political unrest. It has magical realism. Chef’s kiss. Be aware: this is not a happy rom com . The plot heavily includes a government and a rebellion, so the tone is not light hearted. We also have morally grey characters, so know that going into it. @booksbygrayce reel made me buy this book before I even read it. The next day I found out it was on KU, so I started THAT before my book arrived. 😂 Thankfully, I loved it. The constant cat and mouse game between Rune and Gideon, trying to deceive each other for personal gain, while trying to deny their very real, growing feelings for each other, had me on the edge of my seat. Loyalties and trust are tested, between lovers, friends and family, and the use of witchcraft and magic kept things unpredictable. I am so excited for the next book, Rebel Witch, to be released next year! If this is on your TBR, trust me and just read it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was not sure I would wind up liking this book. I thought the premise wound up luring me in initially, but as the story went on this wound up being a really edge of your seat storyline. I was not anticipating all of the intrigue, all of the surprises near the end, nor the chemistry between Rune and Gideon AND Alex. I will not give any spoilers here, because there ARE quite a few shocks at the end - but I cannot wait for the second book in this series. I thought the author built a great world and set the backdrop of the issues very clearly. Bo ja przepraszam, ale na mojej książkce nie ma słowa o trójkącie miłosnym, który jest tu jednym z ważniejszych wątków. Nie jestem fanką tego motywu i choć prawdopodobnie nie zniechęciłoby mnie to do jej przeczytania to na pewno inaczej bym się nastawiła. Czarownica i łowca, czy to nie brzmi dobrze? Oj bardzo. A jeszcze lepsza jest gra, którą prowadzą między sobą. Przebiegła, pełna zasadzek i knucia. Przewidywanie kolejnego ruchu, zwodzenie przeciwnika. Wszystko to dzieje się między nimi. Tylko nie przewidzieli jednego, żadne z nich. Miłości, która wkradnie się pomiędzy ich rozgrywke. Ale czy to jest miłość, czy tylko gra? Czy przypadkiem nie zaczną udawać sami przed sobą? Na duży plusik charakterystyka postaci. Nie są płaskie i mdłe. Są pełni sprzeczności, każdy z nich ma swoją historię i żadna z nich nie była łatwa. On ma powód żeby nienawidzić czarownic, ona żeby nienawidzić łowców, ale co jeśli spotkają się w połowie drogi? Wykreowany świat jest łatwy do zrozumienia dla czytelnika, ma swój porządek i rządzi się swoimi prawami. Nie jest przerysowany a jednocześnie fascynuje i sprawia, że chcecie go jeszcze więcej. Rune is living a double life as the darling of the New Republic by day and The Crimson Moth by night. She's secretly a witch who has been rescuing other witches that have been hunted down to be captured and executed. Gideon is a witch hunter with a vendetta against The Crimson Moth - who has escaped capture and eluded him for so long. They end up courting each other for their own agendas, and we all know where that leads to ... or do we? Heartless Hunter puts the true in true enemies to lovers. And it's capitalized. Like "I hate everything about you" turned into "I'm trying to hold onto my hate for you but I can't find the feeling anywhere in me because you've left such a mark on me". Yeah. Like thaaaaaat. Reading the progression of Rune and Gideon's relationship was so addictive. They set me on fire. 😍 I thought I knew who I was and wasn't rooting for, but by the end of the book, my feelings were rammed against the wall and got flip turned upside down. Alex's character was written SO FREAKIN WELL. I will never get over it. I had low expectations of what he could contribute as the "other love interest," but man, did he ever surprise me. I'll never get over his arc. I loved it so much. All of the characters were so well written. Gideon's motivations and history add so many layers to who he is, and I'm fascinated to see where he'll go in the next book. The end of the book is heartbreaking, earth shattering (pun maybe intended, for those who have read the book). Proceed with caution because Rebel Witch comes out in FEBRUARY. But like, you still gotta read this book, okay? I know, I'm a horrible person. Just read it and come cry with me until 2025, okay? 🩸 Heartless Hunter (The Crimson Moth #1) 🩸 Kristen Ciccarelli 🩸 Genre: romantasy 🩸 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🩸 Thoughts: I quickly fell in love with this book. I figured that would be the case after seeing so many positive reviews, but it's always nice when a book lives up to my expectations. The tension between Rune and Gideon was literal perfection, and they kept me on the edge of my seat. They're playing a dangerous game of trying to dupe each other (when they're both formidable opponents), and I was constantly stressed for both of them. Gideon is a perfect amalgamation of a lethal hunter while also being a skilled tailor. I realized after reading this that I need more MMCs who make the FMC custom clothing and spend hours sewing them realistic fabric flowers. *cue the swooning* 😍 As much as I loved Rune and her double-edged persona, we didn't get to see her in action as much as I expected. Hopefully that changes in the next book with everything going on. 👀 I constantly felt for her and the horrible losses she's suffered and blames herself for. Wow did I enjoy this book 📕😍 I feel like i need to preface this review by stating that this book is categorized as young adult. The action, violence and smut is all very PG-13. Rune znalazła sposób by to ominąć, ale ten wątek prowadzi nas do pewnych sytuacji, gdy Gideon chce doprowadzić do sytuacji by uważnie przyjrzeć się Rune i dowiedzieć się, czy napewno nie jest czarownicą. B O O K R E V I E W Heartless Hunter by Kristin Ciccarelli March book club pick (very late on this review) We met at the beginning of April and the sunshine and warm weather was perfection Rune is a witch pretending to be a young socialite, however Rune spends her nights being the Crimson Moth. A witch vigilante who rescues her kind from the purge. To gain intel she decides to court handsome Gideon Sharpe - a notorious witch hunter loyal to the revolution. However she didn’t predict she would start falling for him. This is a first of a romantic fantasy duology. A witch and witch hunter enemies to lovers!! Sign me up! I wanted to read this as soon as I heard the premise and it was a unanimous vote at book club. The story is a dual POV, from Rune and Gideon’s perspectives and it really helped getting to know both characters. The setting was ominous and dark, it’s a bleak place where witches are being hunted and purged. Rune needs to hide in plain sight or face the same death as her grandmother did. Rune and Gideon have a slow building and slow burning enemies to lovers romance, and I was here for all of that. The ending left me stunned and wanting more! To think I almost skipped this one 🤯 The Crimson Moth from BKL’s recent Heartless Hunter collection wasn’t on my must-have list. I’m not a big red-orange fan and honestly couldn’t see myself loving a polish with a tomato paste colored base. I have never been more wrong in my life! I ended up going back for it because I decided missing one from the collection just wouldn’t do, and I am so incredibly glad I did. It’s my favorite from this collection, and I can see myself wearing it again and again! Book Mail! OMG guys these last few days have been amazing for book mail! I received this gorgeous Heartless Hunter copy from Owlcrate, as well as received my first-ever Fairyloot subscription box!!! I am so excited to show you the contents of my April YA fairyloot in the next few days, the book and the merch inside were amazing! Back to the topic at hand-this copy of Heartless Hunter is gorgeous, is it signed by the author, and the art inside is amazing, however, it is a bit shorter than I imagined. I will have to buy the original copy to compare heights, but I was surprised to see how short it stood in comparison to my others. You can properly get a feel for the scale from a reel I previously posted. I have heard SO MUCH about this book, about its slow burn, enemies to lovers, and tension!! The Hunter and Hunted vibes its giving is making me squirm with excitement! It is still relatively new, so I suppose negative reviews have not made the main stage yet, but nonetheless, it sounds to be the next big thing! 🩸ʜᴇᴀʀᴛʟᴇꜱꜱ ʜᴜɴᴛᴇʀ 🦋 Wow I did not think I was going to enjoy this book as much as I did. The first couple of pages weren’t dragging me in very fast but once it did, I could not put this book down! Rune is a witch, a witch who had to betray her grandmother to the New Republic to save herself, it was her nans last wish. Rune is beautiful, smart, cunning & incredibly brave. She fights hard for those in need with her friends. But when she needs information and she turns to Gideon, her biggest enemy, to try and swoon him for the info she needs, she discovers Gideon might be better at this game than she thought. Gideon is a witch hunter, he has devoted much of his last few years to the purging of witches, for his own personal reasons. When he’s tipped off that Rune, the air head, self obsessed socialite who annoys him the most, that she may be the witch that he’s been hunting for, it’s time to play a new game. It’s safe to say I loved this book & finished it in a day. I love Rune, she is so inspiring & has deprived herself of putting her feelings first for so long that when we start to see glimpses of that side of her, the dreamer it really tore at me. Gideon isn’t my typical kind of guy. Physically yes, but emotionally he’s different from what I’m used to liking but I really enjoyed reading Gideons povs. He almost seems a little self conscious but handles it in a way that suits him and doesn’t come off as an ick. Plus, some of the things this man did ! I don’t want to spoil anything but there were a few gestures he did that had me squealing & kicking my feet. Śmiało podzielcie się, ile i jakie książki przeczytaliście - a może jakie planowaliście, jednak tym razem zabrakło na to chwili. 🤧 U mnie majówka była czasem górskich wypadów, ale także czasem poświęconym książkom. Jedną z nich był „Szkarłatna Ćma” autorstwa Kristen Ciccarelli. Dziękuję @moondrive.books za wydanie tej książki - to była niesamowita przygoda. Jednym z jej największych atutów jest opowieść zarówno z perspektywy Rune, jak i Gideona, co pozwoliło mi jeszcze bardziej poczuć emocje które im towarzyszyły. Z rozdziału na rozdział, szaleńcza obsesja bohaterów wyciekała z kartek, sprawiając, że nie mogłam oderwać się od tej historii. Urzekł mnie także pomysł na przedstawienie czarostwa przez Kristen, co uważam za duży plus. Choć spodziewałam się końcówki w takim wydaniu, pozostawiła mi ogromną chęć poznania dalszej historii (przysięgam, nie wytrzymam do momentu wydania drugiego tomu XDDD). Książka jest tak wciągająca, że gwarantuję Wam jedno - nie będziecie się od mogli od niej oderwać. Szczególnie, kiedy poza intrygami, kochacie temat rewolucji, zdrady oraz tragizmu. Heartless Hunter | Kristen Ciccarelli 🎧 4⭐️ I listened to this as an audio book and also downloaded on Kindle Unlimited. This book was so good! It was a bit of Romantacy, witch’s, love triangle, enemies to lovers, YA Fantasy. Falling in love with the one person who wants to kill you most while he falls in love with the one person he has dedicated his life to hunt… This was such a rollercoaster. I am not giving any spoilers, but the twist as I got closer to the end was sort of predictable. But I loved it! I believe the next book comes out in 2025 and I will be reading. Czy bylibyście w stanie udawać kogoś innego? Ostatnio miałam okazję przeczytać "Szkarłatną ćmę" i mogę Wam szczerze powiedzieć, że jestem zachwycona tą książką ❤️ Bardzo ciekawy jest wstęp do niej, taki intrygujący. Poznajemy Rune, która musiała ratować siebie, żeby przeżyć. Musiała zrobić okropną rzecz, wydać swoją babcię, która była czarownicą, Krwawej Gwardii, czyli łowcom czarownic. Bardzo jej współczułam. Rozumiałam też to, co robiła dla czarownic, było to bardzo szlachetne i moim zdaniem chciała w jakiś sposób odkupić swoją winę. Kolejna postać, która poznajemy to Alex, który również wzbudził moją sympatię. Bardzo pomagał Rune i to było w nim wspaniałe, każdy chciałby mieć takiego przyjaciela. Mimo wszystko przy niej pozostał, cokolwiek zrobiła, cokolwiek powiedziała. Pozostał nam Gideon, który na początku nie wzbudził mojej sympatii, był taki ponury i chłodny. Później jednak skorupa, która się otoczył zaczyna pękać i pokazuje jaki jest naprawdę. Historia Gideona i jego rodziny bardzo mnie poruszyła. Gdy dowiedziałam się tego, co go spotkało dopiero zaczęłam go rozumieć, tą jego nieufność i nienawiść do czarownic, a także jego wybór zostania łowcą. Były momenty, kiedy śmiałam się przy tej książce. Szczególnie przy początkowych przekomarzankach między Rune I Gideonem. Podobał mi się system magii. Występuje tu prześwietny wątek enemies to lovers, dawno nie czytałam tak dobrego. Podobało mi się także to balanoswanie Rune na granicy niebezpieczeństwa, pełno zwrotów akcji, nieprzewidzianych przeze mnie rzeczy, ta adrenalina, która towarzyszyła mi przy każdym momencie niebezpieczeństwa. A im dalej się czyta tym więcej się dzieje. Płakałam przy wielu momentach, najgorsze jak dla mnie na końcówce książki. Tego, co wydarzy się pomiędzy Rune i Gideonem totalnie się nie spodziewałam, najpierw się cieszyłam i byłam podekscytowana, a potem totalnie załamana. Mogę śmiało powiedzieć, że książka stała się moim ulubieńcem. Bardzo ją polecam, ale uwierzcie mi będziecie czuć niedosyt i czekać na drugi tom z niecierpliwością tak ja.
