📚 Book Review: Heartless Hunter by Kristen Ciccarelli Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 Spice: 🌶️🌶️ What a book! 🤯I was drawn in from the beginning and binged in just a couple of days - which would have been faster if not for all the real life responsibilities that I guess still needed my attention.😆I’m not usually a fan of books about witches, but I was intrigued with all that was a part of this world and was truly hooked from the get go. • This book captures enemies to lovers in the TRUE sense of the word and I was SO drawn into the depth of what this meant for Rune and Gideon. I think it’s best to experience this for yourself and so don’t want to say more than that - but I was COMPLETELY sucked into what would happen next as their relationship evolved. Lots of fire and angst and complication and a very slooooow burn.🔥 • I also loved learning more about both Rune and Gideon’s stories and how this influenced who they were today and why they were choosing to do what they did. This was heartbreaking and sad but also helped me to make sense of why they struggled, even when I was mad at their choices. • All in all, I loved it! REVIEW - 3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 (SPOILER FREE) What’s the most recent book you’ve read? I enjoyed the themes within this book and found the story compelling. I also enjoyed the originality in how witches harnessed and cast magic. Very interesting how they needed to use bloody to harness their magic. The reason it’s 3.5 stars for me is because at times the writing felt quite simple, with certain elements being repeated over and over which felt unnecessary. I also realised towards the end that this was a story about a witch who saved other witches, but she hadn’t saved a single witch the whole story. It was mainly an enemies to lovers romance, which I always enjoy, but it would’ve been much more interesting if amongst that storyline she was also hunting down and saving other witches from the Blood Guard. I also sadly called the big shock moment in the first quarter of the book…and once the theory dawned on me I knew it was right, which made the big reveal not at all surprising sadly. I don’t think I’ve read any books about witches before but I absolutely loved the secret identity, enemies to lovers and fake dating themes throughout this. The constant cat and mouse game between Rune and Gideon, trying to deceive each other for personal gain, while trying to deny their very real, growing feelings for each other, had me on the edge of my seat. Loyalties and trust are tested, between lovers, friends and family, and the use of witchcraft and magic kept things unpredictable. I am so excited for the next book, Rebel Witch, to be released next year! If this is on your TBR, trust me and just read it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Szkarłatna Ćma, Czyli dwóch braci i jedna dziewczyna (brzmi znajomo?). A tak na poważnie, to pomimo szkieletu oklepanego i sztampowego jest to Młodzieżówka przez duże M. Mamy Gideona - mrocznego, brutalnego kapitana, jego brata Alexa - totalne przeciwieństwo i Rune pomiędzy nimi. Aczkolwiek jest to dostarczone w formie, gdzie świat jest zbudowany jasno i przejrzyście, a postacie są napisane w sposób ciekawy i konsekwentny, czego przy głównych męskich bohaterach nie można brać za pewnik. (Tak, myślę tu głównie o Xadenie z Fourth Wing 🤦🏼♀️). Świat do którego wchodzimy składa się z łowców czarownic, którzy przejęli władzę i oczyścili kraj ze skorumpowanych i okrutnych wiedźm, uprzywilejowanych elit i rzeczonych czarownic, które muszą się ukrywać. Główny wątek opiera się z kolei na grze pomiędzy Gideonem i Rune, gdzie jedno i drugie ma jasno określony cel - wyciągnięcie informacji. Więc umówmy się, bardziej klasycznego enemies-to-lovers nie da się wymyślić. Ale czy aby na pewno? Motywy, działania i intrygi trzymają w napięciu, a zakończenie zapowiada świetną kontynuację. „Szkarłatna Ćma” nie udaje czegoś czym nie jest- i właśnie ten niewymuszony styl totalnie mnie urzekł. Tak samo jak przypomnienie, że romantyczną relację i napięcie między bohaterami można wykreować bez przesadnie graficznych opisów i nic przy tym nie stracić (a wręcz przeciwnie!). ✨Book Review✨ Heartless Hunter (aka The Crimson Moth) by Kristen Ciccarelli ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 5 Stars I finally got a chance to read this one! Which btw is on KU as well. I’ve spoiled myself recently with beautiful world building and authors who weave such intricate, emotional stories that I inevitably compare each new read to that. Which is why I can only give this one four stars. It may not be fair, but oh well. This is a fast-paced romantic fantasy. The world isn’t too complicated to pick up and the chapters are short, which will keep you reading. Rune is a character you want to root for, a hero in disguise immersed in a high-stakes world. However, I did crave a little more character development for her. And her relationship with Gideon. I felt like when things finally got good with the plot, the book was nearly over. There’s a biiiig plot twist that’ll give you a jaw drop once you get there. It was a really good read, I enjoyed it but I definitely wanted more. I’ll no doubt read the conclusion to this duology next year! One annoyance, though: I really don’t like how Rune goes from brother to brother. NO NIE MYLIŁAM SIĘ. 🥀 Czarownice korzystają głównie z magii krwi i każde zaklęcie pozostaje na ich skórze w postaci blizny. Rune znalazła sposób by to ominąć, ale ten wątek prowadzi nas do pewnych sytuacji, gdy Gideon chce doprowadzić do sytuacji by uważnie przyjrzeć się Rune i dowiedzieć się, czy napewno nie jest czarownicą. Book Mail! OMG guys these last few days have been amazing for book mail! I received this gorgeous Heartless Hunter copy from Owlcrate, as well as received my first-ever Fairyloot subscription box!!! I am so excited to show you the contents of my April YA fairyloot in the next few days, the book and the merch inside were amazing! Back to the topic at hand-this copy of Heartless Hunter is gorgeous, is it signed by the author, and the art inside is amazing, however, it is a bit shorter than I imagined. I will have to buy the original copy to compare heights, but I was surprised to see how short it stood in comparison to my others. You can properly get a feel for the scale from a reel I previously posted. I have heard SO MUCH about this book, about its slow burn, enemies to lovers, and tension!! The Hunter and Hunted vibes its giving is making me squirm with excitement! JUNTOS ARDERAN.🏵 🏵Bueno, bueno pues aquí está el libro que tanto me ha gustado, el libro que tenía secuestrada mi mente y el que es de mis mejores lecturas del año. Cuando llego a @khyda_ire la versión en inglés, supimos que lo teníamos que tener en cuanto se publicase en 🏵España y así fue. Uno de esos flechazos que dices me lo tengo que leer si o si. Y dejad que os diga que no esperaba que me gustase tanto. El sistema de magia es bastante sencillo, tenemos magia de sangre con el añadido que después de un hechizo queda la firma de la bruja (cosa que las hace más localizables para los cazadores) a parte tienen que esconder las marcas que deja la magia en ellas (marcas que por cierto me parecen preciosas) 🏵Tenemos dos puntos de vista el de Rune y el de Gideon, esto me ha gustado mucho ya que podemos ver dentro de los dos protagonistas y empaparnos de sus sentimientos y ver ese tira y afloja interno que tienen. 🏵La historia está bien narrada, los personajes bien diferenciados, cada uno tiene su propia personalidad y se nota a la hora de leerlo. Hay acción desde las primeras páginas y el ese final a lo grande para que necesites la segunda parte para ayer. I just finished this book. AND. I. HAVE. FEELINGS. I absolutely loved Rune & Gideon. This story had so much suspense and I was blown away by the revelation at the end. • Book Review • Heartless Hunter, Kristen Ciccarelli "I'm afraid you'll be the end of me." Enemies to lovers isn't usually my cup of tea, but it worked so well in this book! It was easy to see the chemistry between the characters, and I loved seeing their relationship develop over the course of this book. I loved the magic system, and the authors take on Witch Hunts. In this, witches have silver scars as "casting marks," which is the main tell you've found a witch. Some even make the scars into fancy designs like a tattoo, and wear them with pride (well, until they get caught). The end of the book has some pretty huge reveals, and a not-yet-happy-ending for the characters, so I am interested in seeing where it goes from here! "A Moth to Flame, A Witch to Burn" Heartless Hunter: Crimson Moth One by @kristenciccarelli First of all, can we take a moment to appreciate how beautiful the Fairyloot Edition of this book is?! I love the original cover art too. Being a witchy soul, I dig anything moth and goth. Secondly, the next moment belongs to my beautiful peony which finally blossomed after 3 years of impatiently waiting for it to bloom. Heartless Hunter was a friggin' nail biter for me! Tropes include enemies to lovers, a love triangle (with brothers!!), class differences (not how you would expect though!), hidden identity, unrequited love, and a betrayal I totally did not see coming. It ended on a cliffhanger, of course. I liked the different take on commonly used story concepts in this book. It was refreshing! I don't enjoy the wait for the following books in new series but, happily, I get to re-read good books in anticipation of the next release. Beautiful book, great writing and I can't wait for the next!

📚Okay let’s chat Heartless Hunter. (I wish it was also called The Crimson Moth in the USA, but c’est la vie.) ✨This book is about a witch in hiding (as all witches must be) who does her best to rescue arrested witches with the help of her two best friends. Eventually, she also begins building a relationship with her best friend’s brother, who also happens to be the captain of the witch hunting guard. A man who truly hates witches. This is a story with magic, subterfuge, romance, and some deeply heartbreaking moments. ✨👀🔥😭 Some quick thoughts: I liked this book! The characters were nuanced and complex. The world was fascinating and offered interesting insight into “us vs. them” dynamics. The witchy vibes were fabulous. And it had heart-wrenching conversations on trauma and its lifelong impact. However, I was bummed that the twists in the book were rather predictable. Also, the primary romance in the book had some decent physical attraction build-up, but not much emotional build-up so it felt a bit rushed. Overall, a four-star read for me! I could tell pretty quickly, within about 50 pages that this was going to be a tear jerker ending.. what I wasn’t expecting was such a delicate yet brutal story. 🥺 This book takes place after a revolution where witches are deemed criminals and immediately receive a death sentence upon being discovered. Our main character, being a witch, has a goal of saving as many witches as she can and getting them to safety. I found the magic system in this book truly beautiful and so fun to learn about during each chapter! This book is dangerous, steamy, dark, and brutal. 🗡️❤️ The love triangle in this book is ‘the infernal devices’ level of trauma so be prepared for that.. but, overall I absolutely loved t this book & the banter between our two mc’s so much! It was almost like a historical fiction, which I really enjoyed. Rune had me yelling at her at times with her silly decisions but I loved it all the same. The writing was full of vivid description and the world created really captured my imagination. The storyline itself was brilliant I loved the arc and the way it all played out. The characters themselves were fleshed out and even the "bad guys" were created with a complexity that you shared your empathy with all the characters. I loved Rune she was strong and fierce, she was the perfect main character and I loved her relationship with Verity and Alex. Gideon I also loved, I loved his backstory. I was surprised with the twists and turns of the novel it certainly went in a different direction to where I thought and It was absolutely fantastic. And I already wish I could reread it for the first time again. 🥲 This book has it all. Enemies to lovers (witch x witch hunter?!), slow burn romance, best friends brother, dual pov, and an incredible and unique magic system. And these two are ENEMIES. The whole setup is just so good. I adored Rune. She’s smart, witty, and brave, but she’s also a damaged girl who has to wear a mask in front of her entire town keep herself and her true intentions safe. The guilt that she feels for what happened to her grandmother and how it drives her to continue her crusade time and time again is so heartbreaking but also relatable in a way. She holds herself to a standard that her best friend is worried will ruin her one day, yet she just can’t stop. It’s the only way she feels like she can atone for what happened. My heart is broken from that ending. I haven’t cried that much from a book in quite awhile. And a cliffhanger! 😩 I am so impatiently waiting for the sequel. It can’t come soon enough. This book is perfect for those looking for an enemies to lovers where there’s no “they’re enemies but they fall for each other in the first/second act” nonsense. Side note: Alex is my favorite and deserves the entire world. Dosłownie są swoimi wrogami jako łowca i czarownica i zrobią wszystko by spełnić swoje cele. Ich relacja została przedstawiona perfekcyjnie. Co więcej świat stworzony przez autorkę jest po prostu boski, tak samo jak postacie. Historia mnie pochłonęła i przeczytałam ją w jeden dzień (jedyny plus L4). Dodatkowo zakończenie było dla mnie bardzo szokujące. Spodziewałam się plot twistu jednak nie aż takiego. Potrzebuje drugi tom na już. Hype na książkę jest w mojej opinii zdecydowanie zasłużony i całkowicie rozumiem już reakcje osób które ją czytały. I almost named by son Jesper, and god I love Kaz and Inej. I need some fanfic for them where Kaz works through his trauma. 🩸Heartless Hunter by Kristen Ciccarelli Enemies and lovers. Witch and witch hunter. The second book comes out in Feb 2025... a long time to wait. 📃Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows by Rebecca Ross This book was an exquisite love story. There is a war going on between Gods and there are magical elements, but the meat of it was just beautiful writing between two war correspondents. Loved it. 👑The Kindred’s Curse series by Penn Cole Spark of the Everflame, Glow of the Everflame and Heat of the Everflame These are SOOOO good and I don’t see them referenced enough. They are the perfect answer to, “What should I read after #ACOTAR?” The world has mortals and descendants of gods, the former experiencing gross injustice, and the MFC promising a better future. Also, there’s the obligatory dark, shadowy and misunderstood MMC. The next book comes out in June….
