Her love is holy. 🩷 When I first felt called to Mother Mary, it was a real inner struggle for me. It was hard for my mind to grasp, how someone who considered themselves a pagan and who practices witchcraft, could have a relationship with the Holy Mother. Would she hear my prayers outside of the Church? Would I need to give up my witchcraft practice? Will this relationship change me? Here is my experience. Yes. She hears and answers my prayers. No, I do not belong to a church. Now I do go to church from time to time. I typically like to go to light candles & pray the rosary at her feet. And I prefer to go before or after mass. 🕯️ No. I did not have to give up any of my witchcraft practice & matter of fact, Mother Mary is so soo woven into my craft. Now a lot of things have evolved within my practice, sure. But it’s all been beneficial to my craft.✨ Yes. This relationship changed me, for the better! I now set boundaries. I say NO when I want to. I have healed deep childhood traumas (and continue to do so). I have learned to love myself, accept my body & know my self worth. Stregheria e Santità Utilizzando il termine "Stregheria" si intende la pratica magica rurale sviluppatosi con la diffusione del Cattolicesimo (o Pietà) Popolare, avente origine dal Paganesimo Medievale della Stregoneria. Se dall'anno 1000 al 1300 troviamo Operatori Magici apertamente "pagani" che si rivolgevano alle Fate, dal 1400 taluni da streghe e stregoni divennero noti come Guaritori Popolari venendo pure santificati per le loro capacità. Nella Pietà Popolare troviamo una lunga storia del rapporto tra le donne e la medicina. Testimonianze raccontano di sapienti levatrici e mediche, guaritrici medievali che popolano la documentazione medica antica le cui azioni erano spesso associate alla pratica di Stregoneria. A salvare dalla loro condanna alcune di queste che mettevano in atto terapie tra medicina e superstizione fu tuttavia la loro conclamata Santità. Nei processi di canonizzazione di Francesca Romana, testimoni riferiscono dettagli che permettono di scoprire i rimedi più utilizzati dalla Santa: succhi di ruta, panni unti di olio, pietre calde e impasti. Alcune, come Caterina da Racconigi, usavano rimedi più particolari; tra i suoi ingredienti usuali c'erano occhi e lingue di rospo, veniva chiamata "Masca di Dio" per la capacità di volare (in spirito) e predire in questo modo la morte delle persone. Altre, che invece non vennero santificate, trovarono riparo dalle accuse di illecito esercizio della professione medica nella comunità ecclesiastica, potendo continuare in questo modo la loro opera di assistere e curare gli ammalati. Went for a long walk in the woods, admiring the wild geranium and Jack in the pulpit. I pulled several hundred mayapples from the trail and sat on a log to watch some chipmunks playing. It's gotten to the point that when I identify a native plant, it's less like going through a catalog in my head and more like running into an old friend. I've worked really hard the past 3 years on identifying wildflowers, herbs, and trees - they're members of my community! Wow, last night I dreamed that I attended a Papal visit at St Patrick's Cathedral and a Cardinal told me I shouldn't be there since I'm a "fringe Catholic with one foot out the door." Papa Frankie took out a violin & played it sadly until he shut up. When everyone processed outside and down 5th Ave, a group of trans activists was handing out informational pamphlets, I brought them into the procession and we chanted "we are The Transfiguration!" What a night! It had been a very long time since my last Church dream, they used to involve me going to hide in a small chapel but then one night I dreamed that a mother with a baby and a very thick Minnesota accent told me to come out and help the people. Since then, my Church dreams usually involve joining fellow rejects in holy celebration. Tea magic is something I practice frequently, especially for healing purposes. Dealing with more than one chronic illness, tea has definitely become one of those things I go to for many ailments, from headaches to digestive issues. On top of the herbal properties of the tea, I also charge my teas on my altar & call on Mother Mary (recently, specifically under her title of Our Lady of Lourdes, Health of The Sick). And I will bless the tea in her name, asking for her blessing, under that title. I will pray a few of her prayers over the tea & whisper them directly into the tea. Il ruolo di contrastare streghe, spiriti e demoni fu affidato a una Santa dell'VIII secolo che si diceva avesse tale potere oltre a quello di guarigione, un baluardo del bene, Santa Valpurga - la notte che precede il primo Maggio venne chiamato "Notte di Valpurga". Probabilmente la Santa fu un modo anche di cristianizzare la Dea onorata in questi giorni. Ad esempio Flora, Bona Dea, Maia, per i celti era Belisama, per i popoli germanici Freya o Frigga, in epoca medievale Frau Holle, la "Signora col fuso". A suffragio di questa assimilazione, in ambito germanico la credenza locale vede Valpurga nelle nove notti precedenti il primo Maggio volare portando in mano un fuso a seguito di spiriti di cavalli - in un corteo che ricorda proprio quello della Caccia Selvaggia, il cui arco temporale finisce proprio ora. According to Lebor Gebála Érenn (The Book of the Taking of Ireland aka The Book of Invasions), the first Bealtaine fire ever lit in Ireland was kindled atop Cnoc Uisneach by the Druid, Mide. Marked by Ail na Mirean (Stone of Divisions), this hill was once considered the center-point of Ireland. It is said that goddess Ériu, the island’s namesake, is buried beneath this great stone. Bealtaine marks the transition from winter to summer. It is one of four Irish fire festivals (alongside Samhain, Imbolc, and Lúnasa). Folklore tells us that Druids throughout various parts of Ireland lit two magnificent bonfires side-by-side while reciting incantations. Cattle and other livestock were then driven between them as an act of purification, cleansing, and protection. Fire is certainly a part of modern celebrations, with similar practices taking place today. Fertility is also a major theme. In order to break the power of infertile winter over the land, couples would leave the bonfire celebrations in favor of making magic of their own in the woods(intercourse). It was particularly important that these interactions took place on the land itself, so as to wake it from its slumber, thus making the soil fertile and ready to produce a bountiful harvest. Similarly, the Sun is celebrated at this time, when it wakes the land and loosens Winter’s icy grip. Watching the sun rise is a simple tradition for celebrating Bealtaine. Some folks keep an all night vigil, waiting to greet the morning sun, while others choose to wake at sunrise and welcome the lighter part of the year. Maypoles are a commonly known tradition as well. However, they are not an Irish tradition, but in fact English. And while we’re at it, “Beltane” is an Anglicized term. I’ve been using this way of fixing florida water for over a year. I originally developed it to feed a St Lazarus charm purchased from a vodouissant in Montréal. This water can be used like regular Florida water, to cleanse and clean, but it can also be used in uncrossing rituals and to open roads. For these latter uses I like to draw crosses on the back of my neck, or to sprinkle crosses of the water at each fork of a crossroads while praying to Saint Lazarus to open my roads towards a specific goal. You can also put it in a dish and set it on fire — with safety in mind, of course! This specific bottle was prepared on the feast of St Lazarus, but it can be done at any time. It was made in preparation for our community uncrossing ritual coming up in January. This ritual is available only to Patreon members of the Haw-Thorn tier, who benefit from a monthly community ritual performed on their behalf. Write out and pray Psalm 94. Anoint it with Mercury’s Open Roads oil, and put it in your bottle of Florida water. Add lemongrass and frankincense tears, as well as a few drops of holy water — I am using St Petka holy water here, but anything works. Add also a few drops of open roads oil. This done, shake vigorously and pray an Our Father, three Hail Marys, and Psalm 23 over the bottle. Let it sit for at least three days before using. Sprinkle in a space to cleanse it, or use it to wash candles, tools, and other items in need of cleansing. Wash your hands with it before and after malefic work. Anoint the neck along with Décroisé uncrossing oil for uncrossing purposes. Sprinkle at crossroads as offerings to the spirits. Trying out a new home protection work I pieced together from here & there. I don't do protection rituals daily. Having daily prayer routine along with the occasional warding / protection ritual every few months works well. Of course, I'll do different works for protection from intentional harm thrown my way (curse, malefic work, evil eye), to storm protection, etc. I'll also usually do a somewhat simple house cleansing beforehand too. Homo Selvaticus Dalla seconda metà di Aprile troviamo la figura dell’Uomo Selvatico (spesso associato all'Uomo Verde), che con la sua comparsa chiude definitivamente il ciclo invernale aprendo così quello della primavera per entrare nel periodo della celebrazione della vita e la sua crescita. Una figura archetipa presente in molte aree europee, a tratti semidivino, diffuso in tutto l'arco alpino italiano con diversi nomi. Nella visione popolare è il propiziatore della primavera per eccellenza, le credenze dicono che vive nei boschi e alcune che possedeva doti magiche. Aveva cominciato a insegnare la caseificazione agli uomini ma si era fermato prima del segreto finale – che consisteva nel come ricavare dal latte lo zucchero o olio, a seconda delle tradizioni. In particolare si ricorda come l'Uomo Selvatico avesse per prima cosa insegnato a filtrare il latte usando il licopodio, e detta per questo uso "erba colina". Alcune località ancora oggi il giorno di San Marco, il 25 Aprile, proprio con il licopodio vengono completamente rivestite le maschere dell'Uomo Selvatico in modo da rendere i portatori irriconoscibili, poi impugnano una frasca di betulla ricca di foglie e brandendola scendono dal bosco verso il paese, preceduti da musica. Lungo il percorso battono la base della frasca sul terreno per richiamare l'erba. [Rituel & prières] Ce matin, j'ai consacré mon temps à un rituel païen que j'aime faire pour un proche malade. Je suis reconnaissante qu'il soit bien suivi par des médecins et je souhaite le soutenir à ma façon avec des prières et des rituels. Le romarin que j'utilise a pour propriétés, entre autre, la protection, la purification et la guérison.
