I don't usually get attached to things but I felt this one. It is time to move on and retire my Nike Romaleos 2 after a good 7-8 years of use. These shoes felt really special to me because It has traveled with me and been to a lot of gyms in different parts of the globe from the US, to some parts of Asia and the Oceania region. I made a lot of memories with these shoes from my birthday workouts, my first workout after my cancer treatment, powerlifting competipns and to squatting 440lbs using these babies. Thank you to my awesome sister @zelleochocodevilbiss for giving me these new Romaleos 4, can't wait to use them. Update: 3 sets of 280lbs for 4 reps felt really good, I'm still adjusting/experimentong with the angle of my toes with these shoes to give a more spring going up the hole. My lower back and legs are still sore from the fitness test 🙃. Even from the warm up I can feel the tightness on the lower back but I dont want to miss this session. Tomorrow will be hectic day. Deadlifting with my boys. My 4 year old also wanted to do deadlifts, so we got an old 50mm plumbing pipe, put some cable ties as stoppers, added a 1.25kg and 0.5 kg weight with collars on each side. Love it that they want to be around when we train. Winter normally means bulking up if you're a body builder.. I'm not a bodybuilder, neither am I a powerlifter. Just your average guy that likes to train and be stronger than I was before. Being bulky isn't the goal for me at this point of my life, neither is it being ripped. I've seen guys in the gym that looked ripped that can't squat 100kg for 2 proper reps. That's like having a manly beard, but not knowing how to use a drill to hang a picture on the wall. This is Week 3 Day 1 of Candito's 6 week strength program. Week 4 of Candito 6 Week program I deliberately started this cycle lighter than normal for Squats and Deadlift to recover from a lower back niggle and I'm glad I did! Squat 132.5 x 2 Deadlift 152.5 x 2 Both lifts are feeling alot more solid than 4 weeks ago. Maxes in 2 weeks time will be nowhere near any PB's, so what? I'm enjoying my training!
