Anybody else's brain cluttered with story ideas? I have tons of them and have started writing half of them, lol. Anyone get into an all-or-nothing headspace?😬 What about a "if I can't realize it my exact way then it's all dumb and deserves to be thrown away" headspace?🙃 What about a "if I don't do it perfectly in my plan it could fail so why start?" headspace?😜 Yes, those are all variations on the same thing. 😉And all of them can hamper your author biz progress. 🖋️And I absolutely get it, because I was about to abandon a worthwhile project because the changing publishing industry made my Grand Vision impossible. So I had to sit with myself. And decide if I could do it a new way. And decide if that could work for me. Then I figured out a way it could, remember my last sesh with my business coach, and things moved forward once more (deets coming out in my author help newsletter). 💥Your stories are worth too much to give in to despair. Do things your way, Make changes. Shift your perspective. Do necessary pivots. Yes, take breaks if you need to (I'm planning on a summer of deep research and binge reading). But keep moving forward and do what you can. You don't have to stay in that headspace - yes, even if you're neurodivergent, there are ways to work around it. Because I do get around it (and my brain is quite special). 👉If you need expert guidance on those pivots, DM me or leave a comment to hop into a coaching session. Go forth and be awesome.🔥

Seriously, when I get stuck writing it's an action scene about 90% of the time. Logically I know about taking breaks and not ending up burned out again...but it can be hard to convince my brain that it really is OK not to be capable of the pace I used to have. I check my sales dashboard very regularly (it's almost a habit)...I still think I will intuit what readers want from it 🤣 but that's energy better spent on pretty much any other writing-related task. And old me used to be able to buckle down and finish projects quickly when I was in the home stretch or it was short. And now...nope! Someone once said that the main reason Agatha Christie's books still endure and are so loved is not just because her stories are so interesting, but because she had a deep understanding of human nature and what drove people to behave the way they did. I try to make my characters fit into personality groups, (my favorite resource for this is 16personalities.com) but I don't always dig deeper into the psychology behind it. Saga o Autoconclusivo? Inanzittutto bisogna specificare la differenza : In una saga la storia è composta da vari volumi che compongono la stessa storia Nell' autoconclusivo la storia è composta da un unico volume Personalmente non mi preoccupo da lettrice che la storia sia raccontata in uno o più volumi purché sia coinvolgente e trainante. Da scrittrice d'altro canto se stai decidendo di intraprendere la stesura di un romanzo ti consiglio di iniziare da un autoconclusivo, fatevelo dire da chi ha iniziato da una trilogia. Perché? Semplice vi posso elencare almeno tre motivi: 1 perché è più facile concludere il romanzo 2 se stai pensando di inviare il tuo manoscritto ad una casa editrice o utilizzarlo per un concorso, avrai più possibilità di essere preso in considerazione dall'editore. O, nel caso del concorso, che segua tutti i requisiti richiesti 3 sarà più semplice lavorarci, visto che avrai meno trama e sottotrame da tenere sottocontrollo La mia esperienza : Ho scritto una trilogia che era nata dall' idea di un autoconclusivo, ma avevo talmente tanto da dire sui miei personaggi e sulla storia che avevo ideato, che proprio non c e l'ho fatta a stringere tutto in un unico volume. Ho pubblicato in self con la voglia di far conoscere la storia il prima possibile, ma poi quando ho deciso di proporlo ad una casa editrice ahimè ho scoperto che le case editrici non prendono saghe già iniziate di scrittori emergenti. I apologize for how inactive I have been over the past couple of weeks. I have had so much going on, between setting up my book launch for The Murder Society, directing a new audio series, my new position as acting consultant at the local theater, my office renovation and the fact I have 2nd degree burns on the bottom of both my feet! I have had my hands overly full and haven't had much time for writing.
