By healing the wounds I endured from my mother I’ve been able to love Quinn in a way I never experienced… so really it’s been a gift for both of us. Why yes, yes I do. Sorta, Kinda, Maybe 😅 But there’s of course a difference. Shall we break it down? In the case of my turkey rotisserie salad, had I purchased this pre-made salad from the grocery store, here’s what I would be looking at. Lowest quality turkey or chicken meat on the market. This means, the animal is raised in confinement, fed non-organic and GMO grains, no sunlight, no room to walk, likely a diseased and sick animal. Next, if it was rotisserie, there would be many chemicals added to enhance the flavor. The mayo used would be the lowest quality and would include seed oils, preservatives and other chemicals. The carrots and celery would not be organic, which means they would have been grown with pesticides that are harmful to our health. Celery is on the Dirty Dozen list and should be avoided at all cost if NOT organic. Happy Mother's Day from all of us at Redemption Song Foundation. 🤰🏽👶🏾 The work we do at Redemption Song Foundation is all about embracing the sacred feminine energy of loving families and children unconditionally, with both-directional learning. With the discrimination they face in their own southwestern Uganda community as Batwa, a minority indigenous population that makes up only 1% of the population, children grow up feeling less-than, unloved, insecure. They can behaviorally counter this by developing "attitudes" towards the dominant tribe, speaking back against taunts, only to be labeled as troublemakers, drunks, and vagrants. Their whole identities become tied to their ethnic label -- as applied not in pride for most, but in how they've viewed themselves through other's eyes for a couple of generations now. They feel pride in being sponsored and allowed to attend excellent schools and go on field trips no other organization working with Batwa takes their kids on, like a trip to Kampala staying at a hotel for several days, swimming at the Sheraton pool, interacting with the @youngengineersuganda robotics program for an afternoon, or going to Lake Bunyonyi and visiting another Batwa village that speaks a different language.
