Honey Comb 🍯 🐝 The home of the hive. It is through this sacred shape, formed of beeswax, that the bees can communicate with each other through vibration. This is why allowing bees to create a natural comb, is so important. When we use plastic in a hive - especially premade/set sized combs - we are not only adding a synthetic surface into their home, but we are interrupting their communication with each other. Bee medicine. My path to pollen. Bees bring the Sun back with them when they enter their dark hive with their pollen filled legs. Pollen is their light. I hadn't tried pollen before and never found one until the day I was waiting for my baby to pass. Cramps were intense. I knew I was holding it all in and wasn't ready to let go yet. I wanted my baby to stay with me. I went to talk to the bees and let them know our baby died. (You have to let the bees know if there's been a marriage, celebration or death in the family.) After I sat with them and told them, I noticed this beautiful bag of pollen. I picked it up, marvelled at it, thanked the bees for their prayers and ate it. The powdery sensation hit my tongue, letting the sun and light enter my body. I told myself I needed to go to the toilet. I had no cramps or urge to do a wee. But I thought I should go to the toilet. I sat down and I felt my baby move outside of me. Without even looking, I knew this was it. I looked down and saw the beautiful white light amongst the red. Physically not painful but emotionally heartbreaking. I know the bees held a little ceremony for me. Gifted me with their ceremonial pollen for my journey to end but begin. I felt closure. I had bee medicine to help me heal. I welcomed this rite of passage. Fertility Goddesses and Gods of Death danced together. I held them in my womb space. The Navajo use pollen at the beginning of the final night's activities. This makes it a safe, holy, and sacred place, appropriate for a religious ceremonial at which gods will be present. Pollen is used in every rite.

I often crave to feel a sense of the past from a time I know I’ve lived and loved before. I sometimes long to touch a place in time that feels nostalgic for no apparent or rational reason. I feel into a space in time when all the village witches secretly passed their tools & vices along to one another when no one was looking (Baskets of bread with a bottle of plant medicine and a secret note under the cloth). I have wounds I’m still mending from these lifetimes of secrecy but there’s a sweet nostalgic feeling there too. I see sisters handing each other herbs for womb empowerment whether that be fertility enhancement or pregnancy release. I see them engaging with these plant medicines alone at night in the woods in privacy as these rituals were frowned upon. I see a candle from a sister lighting their way. When I see witches put together baskets of goodies for their friends it hits me right in the heart. All the good feelings. We are here to help and uplift one another in any way we can. When a queen is newly mated she will sometimes drop multiple eggs in a cell. A queen with a small population may also do this. The difference between a laying worker and a queen is a queen will lay directly in the middle of the cell, usually only 2 eggs if multiple, and the eggs develope into worker bees. A laying worker may lay many eggs, they may be on the cell walls because her abdomen doesn't reach the bottom and her eggs develope into drones! If you see the queen and multi egg drop in the cells you do not have a laying worker. Now determine if she is new or may need population to facilitate the growth of the colony.
