I didn’t expect it to be two separate stories, having their own similarities and differences. So, because of that, it was cool to see the contrast between Julie and Julia. The drama was good, even though, in my opinion, there wasn’t a whole lot of it. The acting was great, as well, since Julia Child’s character was captured excellently by Meryl Streep and Amy Adams is just too good for this world, let’s be honest. Also, MOAR KOOKING. A bunch of the foods shown in the movie looked delicious, and it also showed the partial reality of cooking. The Cancer am cry meltdown sit on floor and perish. In 2002, Julie Powell writes a blog inspired by Julia Child and her cookbook "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" to fill the void she feels being trapped in a job she hates because her dream of being a writer hasn't taken off, she's childless struggling with PCOS, and is coming up on her 30th birthday. It was also later in life that Julia Child's life fell into place. She got married in her mid 30s and learned to cook when she was 37. She wrote "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" because her and her husband, Paul, were stationed in Paris in the late 1940s and none of the cookbooks were translated for Americans. When she realized that she wanted to cook, she started off in an Advanced class of all G.I. men. She caught on quickly and at the end of the class, she earned a diploma that certified her as a chef. From there, she started the cookbook and even started a cooking program broadcast on television. Monday Memories! It was 12 years ago that this client saw my THREE TULIPS image and knew she wanted it for her home. We printed it as a gallery wrap - a very large size - for behind her desk. This image took me a very long time to get just the way I wanted it. The tulips were held secure in a vise, then, while shooting in the dark, I slowly lowered miniature flashlights inside each tulip, one a a time, in order to get the effect that I wanted. I had to be very careful not to hit the petals with the lights as I did not want to cause any movement. Julie & Julia (2009) 👩🏻🍳 Meryl Streep’s portrayal of Julia Child is the quintessential version in my opinion. The HBO one doesn’t hold a candle to this. Also every damn time I see Julia and Paul Child’s relationship my heart swells, they really are the blueprint. However….. the problem with this movie is you’re stuck with Julie Powell for half the time who obviously isn’t nearly as interesting. Quando guardi un film su Netflix, Prime o altre piattaforme, esce la lista dei film con contenuti simili o che potrebbero piacerti. Visto che l'altra sera ho guardato Hunger, mi è stato proposto Julie & Julia, spassosa e ben diretta commedia del 2009 diretta da Nora Ephron, con Maryl Streep e Amy Adams, tratta dal libro autobiografico di Julie Powell ispirato a sua volta al suo blog di grande successo in cui si cimentava nell'impresa di rifare, entro un anno, tutte le ricette del libro della famosa e realmente esistita chef statunitense Julia Child. La storia, come tutte le storie, ha vari livelli di lettura e qui il messaggio sotteso è il riuscire a trovare la propria strada e fare di una passione una carriera, risultato che sia Julie che Julia ottengono. Il film si snoda infatti in due diversi momenti temporali alternando la storia di Julia Child agli inizi della sua carriera, negli anni 50, e quella di Julie Powell nel periodo subito dopo il crollo delle due torri. Il film è spassoso e motivazionale, o almeno è tale per la maggior parte delle persone perché, essendo un film incentrato sul cucinare ha il solito enorme problema di mostrare ogni specie di animale a pezzi ritenuta commestibile (è mai possibile che in questo genere di film non si cucini mai un piatto di verdure manco per sbaglio?). Anche qui c'è una scena terribile, resa ancor più terribile dal fatto che sia una scena realizzata apposta per far ridere, cioè con dei momenti e battute che vorrebbero suscitare ilarità. In pratica Julie Powell, lavorando al proposito del suo blog, arriva al punto delle ricette di Julia Child in cui deve cucinare un'aragosta viva. La scena è anticipata diverse volte con battute sul sentirsi "assassina di aragoste" e con il fidanzato che la motiva, il tutto sempre comicamente, come se non si trattasse realmente di uccidere qualcuno, cioè usandi la stessa ironia che potremmo fare noi quando buttiamo le patate nell'acqua bollente. L'aragosta è trattata alla stregua di un vegetale. Provatela e fatemi sapere! . - Risoni cremosi alla zucca - 450g zucca 1 spicchio aglio 1 rametto rosmarino 210g risoni 3 cucchiai olive taggiasche 4 cucchiai lievito alimentare q.b. sale q.b. pepe q.b. olio di oliva - Mettere a bollire un po' di acqua in una pentola - Tagliare la zucca a cubetti - Versare l'olio in una padella e fare rosolare uno spicchio d'aglio e un rametto di rosmarino. - Aggiungere la zucca e fare rosolare finché non inizia a colorirsi, quindi aggiungere la pasta e l'acqua bollente, le olive e lasciare cuocere per il tempo necessario. - Quando la pasta è cotta, salare, aggiungere il pepe, il lievito alimentare, mescolare con cura e servire. This is my favorite movie. Well, it's not just a movie to me; it's better than any meditation or therapy. I remember during the hardest times of my life, this movie was the only thing that could calm me down. To me, it was a reminder of all my favorites: love, compassion, cooking, Paris, French food, France, and, of course, my favorite actors. I got my first Le Creuset pot after watching this movie. The story is beautiful. It shows that you can be passionate about anything and find success in this world, regardless of your current circumstances or what others say about you. I loved the movie so much that I decided to read the book. A few days ago, as I was reading it, I realized how much I admired Julie, and I really wanted to know more about her. So, I started searching for her on Instagram, and little did I know, I discovered that she had passed away last year. While I was finding comfort through the movie because of my grief, she had left this world. The news made me very sad, and I couldn't believe it. So I did more research, and yes, it was true. I'm still going to finish the book, and the movie will remain one of my favorites. I'm grateful to her for sharing her experience and for her beautiful story.
