Today is a bumper day for book releases, and first up is this fantastic read by @j.mhewitt I DEVOURED The Perfect Village. It was addictive, dark, and full of suspense. I throughly enjoyed the dual timelines so you get a full backstory and why people are like they are! The secrets, we all love a community full of secrets and this one doesn't disappoint. Vivacia was a great lead character, so much has gone on with her and you do have all the sympathy by the end. The children storyline was brilliant and well put together and oh so clever, like a jigsaw, it all came together. The ending.....OMG!!!!! Thank you @j.mhewitt for dropping me a copy off! LOVED this! Another fabulous book by @j.mhewitt Like the other one I read by @j.mhewitt , this one is set on a boat. I loved the setting, a glimpse into a world I know nothing about. This one shifts between different time periods in a way that is seamless and easy to follow. The different worlds all come to an eventual conclusion that ties everything together. This book follows the cast of a crew who faced a terrible tragedy the year before, and now they are back for a new season. 🔥 I absolutely LOVED this book! It was outstanding. 🖊️ This is the first book I have read by @j.mhewitt and I can’t wait to read more! 🚢 As we know, seemingly perfect couple often aren’t what they seem. This one takes place mostly on a cruise ship. 🌪️I loved the twists and turns the author took me on. The big twist came, and then there were more that the author threw at me hard an fast. ⏰ I started this one evening and read about 10% before I had to sleep. 🪝 However, when I picked it up again to finish, I read to the end in one sitting - nothing was going to tear me away from it! ✨Book Review✨ The Crew by J. M. Hewitt My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⬅️Swipe for Goodreads Synopsis My Thoughts 💭 I was excited to read this book because it takes place on a yacht. Boats always bring a sense of claustrophobia to a story and when that story is a thriller you know it’s going to be good. I enjoyed the pacing of this book. The chapters are longer but they are broken up into segments which are easy to read. It is also told from multiple POVS and past/present timelines. The characters were pretty interesting, especially Annie and Robyn. Their backstories were really interesting. I liked that each character had a specific trait that the story focused on, like guilt and loyalty. This book definitely shows how guilt can ruin a person and how loyalty plays a huge role in making/breaking friendships. It was a bit predictable at times, but that didn’t deter me from wanting to know how it ended. I will say the ending took me by surprise. My review of ‘The Life She Wants’ by J.M. Hewitt. The bad girl in this is SO bad...yikes! But she has her wounds and the author doesn't shy from showing them. The protagonist comes across as weak for much of the book but she redeems herself when backed in a corner. Plenty of twists and an ending I promise you will not see coming.

Scramble My Ducks! 😳😳😯🤯🥺 ⊰ The Other Son by J. M. Hewitt ⊱ Somewhat quickly, I knew this book had "This is Where It Ends" & "Nineteen Minutes" books feel to it. I wasn't wrong. While I wish I would've had a heads up, even with this not being the main plot of the book, I still powered through. The feelings that it provoked were strong & heartfelt and perhaps at times took away from the real plot the author was trying to convey. Sara needs a new start as does her son Scott. They move to a quiet village where they keep themselves, to themselves. Until Travis, a counsellor at the community centre focuses his attention on Sara believing he can fix her and her son. As Travis tries to make headway with Scott to get to Sara, he'll soon find out the truth about her and Scott, their past, why they've run & just how robust she can be when she feels threatened for herself or her son. I'm still a mix of emotions and unsure how I was going to rate it. I mulled this over and the difficult subject matter it had. Although Hewitt did a really great job with his writing and all the perspectives, this was extremely hard to swallow and I felt the synopsis for this book did not convey what was the real subject matter. Louise is a photographer and gets pulled into the world of the elite and rich, befriended by Jessica eight years ago. Alexis was killed one night back then and now eight years later, Jessica's husband is dead. Louise walks back into her life, but what's going on? Why has she changed so much? While I enjoyed this book quite more than I thought I would, I did guess the ending ahead of time. Even with that, I still was shocked and impressed with this novel. BOOK REVIEW 📚 On my blog today I’m sharing my thoughts on the gripping new thriller by J.M. Hewitt, The Life She Wants! 📚 The Life She Wants by J.M. Hewitt is a really tense thriller and it is such an entertaining read. It centres around two women, Anna and Paula. As Paula tries to make her marriage to her husband Tommy, work, she meets Anna. But although Anna comes across as very friendly, she has her own agenda 😈. Soon, Paula begins to realise that Anna may not quite be the person she thought she was. I really had no idea what was going to happen between Paula and Anna. Anna is determined to get what she wants and she is willing to do anything to get there 🔪. This is what makes the book so tense. Anna is a very interesting character; I wanted to know what was really going on in her mind and what her real motives were here. I loved that the book was set mostly on a cruise🚢 . Tommy and Paula have taken the trip to the northern hemisphere with the hope of seeing the Northern Lights. It made me feel that something bad was going to happen, particularly to Paula and it helped to create a cold, menacing atmosphere 🥶. It seemed as though it would be quite easy for someone to get away with a crime. The setting made it feel as though the walls were closing in and that there would be no escape if something terrible was to happen. I thought the voices of the characters came through very well on the page. I could see Anna’s determination to get what she wants and this is what makes her scary 😬. ✨Book Review✨ The Life She Wants Author: J.M. Hewitt Publisher: Canelo J.M. Hewitt is another author that is new to me and I must say, I quite enjoyed this sinister thriller. Paula is a housewife, married to the (let’s be honest) quite despicable Tommy, and is desperate for a baby. They go on a cruise, which Paula hopes will be the “next step” for their marriage… but alas… along comes Anna… Told from the present POV of Paula and Anna (as well as an undisclosed narrative set in the past) this psychological thriller burns slowly to begin with, then twists into a pacy showdown with a delicious twist at the end. The characters are very well written - neither women are likeable and Tommy really boiled my blood - in all honesty, I could have easily lobbed him overboard! But both ladies are provided a degree of endearment through discovery of the past which allows you to empathise - people are never who they seem… The setting was very atmospheric, beautifully written, and woven into the suspense. I also especially liked the descriptions of Edinburgh in the “past” narrative - yay 🙌🏼 Overall, an enjoyable thriller, filled with messed up people and juicy twists. I really enjoyed how the book alternated between the present and the past because in my opinion it made everything more intriguing. I honestly didn’t really like any of the characters but I think that’s the way it was supposed to be. I mean I did feel sorry for Paula at times but I was also like girl are you seriously going to let people treat you like that!! For the majority of the book I was hoping that Tommy got pushed overboard or something. The Life She Wants is a slow burn psychological thriller that is packed with gut wrenching moments, secrets, twists and betrayal. I have been in a reading and reviewing slump of late and a chilling and intense psychological thriller with an unstable character, was just what I needed to get my mojo back. This story really delivered in giving me this and so much more. ✨Paula and her husband Tommy take a holiday on a luxury cruise ship to Iceland, in what Paula hopes will help them reconnect and talk about having a child that she so desperately wants. But all Tommy is interested in is hanging out with the boys he meets upon arrival leaving Paula on her own. Then Anna comes into the picture and from here it is when things start to go wrong for Paula as Anna sets her sights on Tommy. Who is this woman and why is she targeting this couple? ✨I thought the use of setting the story aboard a cruise ship was a great move and it had me feeling claustrophobic when things start to go wrong for Paula. There is no where to go and this just just added to the chilling atmosphere. I also know that if I had of been on the ship, I definitely would have pushed narcissist Tommy overboard! ✨I enjoyed the alternate chapters from Paula and Anna’s perspectives as well as the chapters interspersed throughout from a voice in past tense which had me intrigued and curious as to how it was going to come together in the present. It does so with a great twist that although I saw coming before the reveal, still had an impact. Tommy surprises Paula with a cruise vacation, and, of course, it’s not exactly smooth sailing. 📖 Fellow passenger Anna has her eyes set on Tommy and is willing to go to extreme lengths to ensure Paula is out of the picture. 📖 I enjoyed how the author also provided one of the main character’s stories through mystery flashbacks, and although I knew who it was referencing early on, it was a fun little twist. Overall, this was not a story with (any) likable characters in my opinion, but very fast paced and a fair share of thrilling scenes. It doesn’t help that one of the passengers, Anna, seems to be infatuated with Tommy. Is there more going on here than a getaway trip to see the Northern Lights? Anna seems to have very specific plans, and they do not include Paula. Told in the past and the present, this is a story of secrets, betrayals,lies,and maybe even murder. Most of the fun for me was trying to uncover the truth buried under all the lies.
