Big birthday weekend out means big birthday exercise. I think my favourite part of the weekend though, was my exercise session in the garden on Saturday morning. A bit of a hybrid @deadly.dozen workout with a bit of #hyroxtraining burpees and lunges thrown in. I’m fast getting to the point of being more and more restricted with what I can do as my hamstring/knee is getting worse again…. So this mornings workout @themidlandmanchester was squats, backwards treadmill walking and a 15 minute #concept2rower session. Homeworkout pull day✅ - 1. Started with some Australian pull ups but the focus was more for front levers/muscle ups. Hit my lats and rear sets really nicely would definitely recommend; imagine doing a lat pull over whilst doing it👌 - 2. Some Zottman curls which I don’t do a great deal of but in my desperate attempt to build up my forearms I’ll try anything at this point. - 3. After @dcfitnessbirmingham told me off yesterday at my sports massage for not stretching and I was very tight (I know!!!!) I thought today’s workout should be some garden yoga (even though I’m super inflexible so find it tough)! It's May and that means planting has begun in earnest in Iowa! Since I'm farming in an urban setting in sandy soil, I currently do all of my work by hand, including the tilling shown here. I'm excited to get my abs back and my shoulders strong after a rather sedentary winter that felt very long. I never had to weed this much back in the clay soils of my childhood home. I love to walk and do strength workouts. I find weight lifting so beneficial. In my 20’s/30’s I enjoyed intense workouts. But your body changes when you get older and you will notice your need different kind of workouts to suit you body. There’s a saying: until you are 40 your body takes care of you, after this you have to take care of your body. When the weather is like this I skip the gym and do my own workout outside. For me this combo is great. Sunshine - vit D and strength. The dog today stretch with me. And when the kids see me doing this, they automatically want to join too. It’s always a win. You feel so good after, every time. It’s part of my life. Exercise is amazing for creating head space too. #workout #healthcoach #vitd #stenght #outside #gardenworkout
About last night... I have had a week off due to man flu and life in general. Well that's a lie, I have had a few work outs but I haven't managed to remember to take a photo. But last night I had a nice chill in the garden followed by a quick upper body workout and yoga. Also a reminder that your body will be constantly changing, and that's okay. Gardeners, I salute you.... Swipe for the befores... After several weekends toiling (I did over 28,000 steps in one day) we have 2 beds with things growing in them!! The bed that never was on the far left will have to be left for another day - when I can face moving wet logs. We massively underestimated how much compost we needed so the bed on the far right will have to wait a week or 2 (beans, peas, sweetcorn, tomatoes). I'm knackered, I'm excited, I'm also a complete novice. Hopefully I can keep things alive 👃 (Need to do better on my camera work! I think I'll stick to stills 😅)
