⛲️🎩🎻🪻 In honour of all the #Bridgerton hype I thought i’d share this cutie that’s on my TBR! Described as Bridgerton meets Peaky Blinders - this is the first book in The Dangerous Damsels series. It’s an enemies-to-lovers romance with a twist. A group of women spend their days pickpocketing and blackmailing all before tea time but then Cecilia meets Ned (and it turns out he’s here to assasinate her) 😳 I received this book (and these stunning goodies) in a #bookbox from the stunning @thebookishboutique_ 🩷 Obsessed with the way the light catches in their bookmarks and I can never go anywhere without my annotation pencil case! 💫 They’ve got so many goodies up on the site and you can use my code LEXY10 to save on your purchases with them too! #DangerousDamsels #wisteriasocietyofladyscoundrels #TheBookishBoutique #Bookstagram #Bookish

QOTD: How do you feel about pirates in your fiction? AOTD: They have never really been my thing, but the pirates in the Wisteria Society are not exactly what you would expect. Book Review: The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels (Dangerous Damsels Book 1) by India Holton ⭐⭐⭐ The villainous Captain Morvath intends to save society by putting himself in charge and women back in their place. His main obstacles are the Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels, a notorious band of lady pirates, including his very own daughter Cecilia, and Queen Victoria herself. Morvath hires Ned to apprehend his daughter so she can marry to regain her mother's family estate; however, Ned changes his plans once he sets his eyes on her. I thought the concept of The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels was a really fun combination of Victorian Era historical romance, pirates, and fantasy. The nonchalance these ladies had toward thievery and assassinations was quite ridiculous and humorous. What did you think? Tell me in the comments. 📚Book series that I would like to read in the future. I have actually read the first Plated Prisoner book and loved it! I just haven't found the time to read the next ones. I have heard so much about the Dangerous Damsels trilogy so that is high on my list. The Powerless trilogy is also everywhere at the moment! Like its gone crazy on both BookTok and Bookstagram. I don't feel like i can avoid it much longer. The Lunar Chronicles have always been on my radar and I don't really know why I've never read them. They look amazing and have so much hype around them. 💭Have you read any of these series? #books #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookseries #series #platedprisoner #dangerousdamsels #powerless #lunarchronicles #hype #bookreviewer #bookishdreamy

𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴: I have a confession to make. I find regency romances… boring. I’ve tried to read a few classic historical romance “bodice rippers”, and without a little action/adventure mixed in they inevitably turn into DNFs. And then I found 𝘞𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘢 𝘚𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘚𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘴. It’s a classic tale of Victorian ladies who gossip about propriety and royal scandals over tea while living a life of crime and thievery and blackmail. And let’s not forget avoiding the devious pirates who are looking to steal their s̷h̷i̷p̷s̷ flying houses and possibly their hearts. “𝘞𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵, 𝘚𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘰𝘳. 𝘊𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘴, 𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴. 𝘐, 𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳, 𝘢𝘮 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘢 𝘣𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘺 𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺. 𝘚𝘰 𝘦𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘮𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩, 𝘰𝘳 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘭𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘱 𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦." 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙. The plot is often chaotic and the writing toes the line between charming and annoying, but this book had me laughing more often than not. If you’re in the mood for a truly unique, delightfully bizarre take on regency romance, this is the book for you! ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 #wisteriasocietyofladyscoundrels #dangerousdamsels #regencycore #regencyromance #regencyromancebooks #romantasy #coolgirlsread #bookbabe #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #theshitshereads

The Secret Society of Treason and Tea moodboard. This was a pleasant and fun book, I'd recommend it. I'm not sure the picture I used really captures Alice but I was too scared to search maid or maid outfit because well, the internet being the internet. I have no doubt Daniel would be horrified by how many rumpled and creased sheet images come up when you search for sheets instead of neatly stacked piles. #indiaholton #thesecretserviceofteaandtreason #dangerousdamsels

Here’s one I simply couldn’t resist making… . The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels is a witty and whimsical comedy of manners (can we please bring back this category as it’s the perfect shelf for books like this?!) that blends references to classic romantic literature with references to The Princess Bride, history with fantasy, and romance with adventure, all tucked neatly into a quippy satire of proper Victorian behaviour, in which freckles are deemed more horrifying than murder, houses fly, and an assassination plot is utterly delightful, but only if it doesn’t interfere with tea. Have you read this series? What did you think? .

Overall this was an enjoyable read. I loved the writing style, it was Austenesque but more overtly humorous, with some delightfuly inventive metaphors. The audiobook narration was excellent and really fit the tone of the story. I liked our main characters, Alice and Daniel. They're both secret agents with decided ideas about how things should be done (particularly when it comes to things such as the correct way to fold a sheet) which leads them to clash mildly at first before they realize just how many similarities they have and that they've found a kindred spirit in each other, with similar tastes in books and a passion for dusting. Both characters are autistic, I appreciated that while we're shown how that informs their outlook and actions, along with some difficulties it can present along with advantages, it's never a Big Deal or Something to be Overcome, they're just people getting on with their lives and everyone who's opinion counts likes them just as they are. The worldbuilding was fun, particularly the flying houses. I haven't read the previous two books, the protagonists of which feature as side characters in this one, but I was able to follow along fine. I liked the concept of AUNT, the idea that servants know everything and make good informants taken to the next level, with them being a secret agency. The plot was the weak point, in that there didn't seem to be much of one. Alice and Daniel are supposed to be searching for a secret weapon but they don't seem to spend all that much time actually doing so and it gets wrapped up rather quickly at the end. The focus is more on the characters and their romance. It was cute but I did find myself getting a little frustrated by the end, as it began to feel a bit repetitive and like the plot had slightly gone out the window. To say Snodgrass was supposed to be their valet, he just seems to disappear by and large from the story with little explanation. The antagonist could have been done better. Overall, a charming and whimsical book with great main characters and an easy to root for romance but the plot did fall to the wayside rather.

I CANNOT get enough of these books. Please release more. 🫖 Alice and Daniel are both secret agents who are among witches and pirates. How can this become any crazier? They must pretend to be married for a secret mission to protect the queen. Gasp! We also get a return of all the previous characters to varying degrees which of course increases the wit and complicates their secret mission. 🫖 I didn’t think Bixby (Daniel) would be interesting at all based on the last novel. I also totally didn’t expect for him to be the next love interest! However, I am a fool and he is funny in his very dry way. Him and Alice end up complimenting each other perfectly by being delightfully uptight and focused on their mission. 🫖 Although these each follow the same formula, they are so well written and the characters so wonderful that it truly doesn’t matter. I don’t know how the author thinks up the things that she does but there are no complaints here! 5/5- these will remain some of my favorite books for life. #dangerousdamsels #bookstagram

Happy May 💐🩵🦋✨May everyone have a beautiful month filled with love, celebrations, & positivity! April went by so quickly; it was a lovely month filled with celebrations, appreciation of nature & the way spring blossoms in my heart as the world becomes vivid in colors🌷🌿 I think this was reflected through my reading as I found myself more drawn to books with floral covers! From the absolutely fun series that reminded me of Brigerton/Jane Austen/Pirates of the Caribbean & was the best spring reading - The Dangerous Damsels series, to “The Lost Apothecary”that renewed my sense of adventure to the beautiful story of “The Collected Regrets of Clover” which celebrated life through death, all the books I read in April truly felt like spring in so many aspects! May outlook 🌺🌸: This month always feels like a spring/summer cusp for me, as it feels like the gateway into summer but the showers remind me it’s truly spring 😅 But like summer, it’s similar in the sense that it marks the beginning of so many happy/joyous things happening as the weather gets warmer that it feels like summer vacation & this year is no exception: from graduation celebrations to some exciting trips planned this month that I’ve been looking forward to all year ( & years prior) because one of the trips is a place I’ve wanted to visit since I was a child 🥹, while another is one of my favorite places on Earth, to AAPI month in which i celebrate not only my own Asian heritage, but also make a stronger attempt to ensure I’m reading books from authors of AAPI heritage - there truly is a lot to look forward to this month 🎊 💬 QOTD: Do you have anything you’re looking forward to doing this month? Also comment a book of an AAPI author that I should check out this month ❤️⤵️

These past couple of months have been a hard because of work. Basically, my manager has been using me as a scapegoat and it has affected me both mentally and physically. Work has been one of my main reasons to get back into reading. I make time for it just to escape the reality of my toxic workplace and management. Most recently, I've picked The Poppy War trilogy again by having read The Dragon Republic and I'm now currently on The Burning God. But, with where my head is at right now, I'm having struggling to really get into the last book because: 1. It takes a lot of imagination to get into. But that comes with reading fantasy imo. But I don't have the capacity for it right now. 2. The story is heavy emotionally. And again, my heart just can't take that right now. Then I remembered reading Legends and Lattes right around last Christmas and loving it. It was my first cozy fantasy (that is not in anime, manga, or game form) and I want to get that feeling again of just going through a light book where it just makes me feel happy or get the kilig vibes. Honestly, when I picked out The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels I went by book cover and the (funny) title. I only just started it yesterday so here's hoping it turns out to be fun. - #bookstagram #indiaholton #readerlife #readersofinstagram #readers #historicalromance #historicalfantasy #dangerousdamsels #thewisteriasocietyofladyscoundrels

📚BOOK REVIEW 📚 THE SECRET SERVICE OF TEA AND TREASON - INDIA HOLTON ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 India Holton is hilarious.  I love the memes she posts. I love the books she writes. Her style of writing is hard to explain to someone who hasn't had the privilege of reading one her books - but it's quick witted, elaborate, observant and delightfully cheery. For me, this is the best of the three in dangerous damsels series. It can be read as a stand alone but contains spoilers for the first two books. But most of all, I loved Alice; she made me feel whole. It's the first time I have felt compelled to write to an author to say thank you for a character. Alice is neurodivergent and I found comfort and validation in many of her personality traits - her gullibility and tendency to take things literally, her inability to tolerate gentle touch, her need to tap when overwhelmed and how navigating social norms left her exhausted, to name a few. Other reasons to read this book:  - pirates, witches and flying houses  - think Jane Austen mocking Jane Austen  - historical fiction  - well paced, adorable romance  - well written spice scenes  - secret spies  - flying petticoats  "She felt all-peopled-out after the morning and wanted to go home, close the curtains, and hug a book until her nerves settled." "Reading is not a hobby," she said. "It is a way of life." What’s better than pirates falling in love? Pirates falling in love with a witch. 🔮 “Besides, she had known him only a week. How could she fall in love with someone in a week? Ah, whispered her heart, but it’s been a lifetime of aloneness, waiting for him, and now here he is.” 🔮 Charlotte is just a typical Londoner- stealing artifacts and riding off on brooms. She loathes pirates, as one does, and is a part of a society in which all the women must be proper thieves. How right it is that the first thing she does is steal from a pirate. For those who read The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels, Alex makes an appearance as the love interest! 🔮 Alex and Charlotte are a perfect match to me. They are both stubborn and hard headed and completely enamored with each other, much to their own distain. Plus there is the one bed troph from the previous book which is always fun. 🔮 As with the last book, there is an adventure waiting to happen that’s high stakes for the characters and obviously a battle to admit to emotions. It’s the perfect type of exciting romance that makes you keep reading after saying you’d stop at this chapter. 🔮 This is a fun ride from start to finish. The sense of humor is my very favorite part, with that dry English humor and witty remarks. I adore this book and now this series! 🔮 5/5- please read these! #theleagueofgentlemenwitches #dangerousdamsels #bookstagram

🍵📖🩵 The second book of The Dangerous Damsels series, “The League of Gentlewomen Witches” continues to be a funny, adventurous tale of espionage & forbidden romance between two enemies, Charlotte Pettifer, an alleged witch (since witches do not exist 🤫), & Alex O’Riley, a pirate. When the long lost amulet of Black Beryl turns up, both pirates and witches are scrambling to get their hands on it first, but stealing it has become no easy feat for either society. That’s when Charlotte & Alex find themselves the most unexpected allies, joining forces in attempts to steal the amulet together…and then possibly from each other later…🧙🏽‍♀️🧹⚔️🏴‍☠️🏘️☕️🫖 💭Holton has done it again, presenting yet another entertaining & creative take to a Victorian fantasy romance story, definitely giving me Princess Bride X Pirates of the Caribbean x Jane Austen vibes & I’m here for ittt ☺️ i love how this reintroduces my favorite characters from the first book, serving as almost an epilogue into their story (Cecilia x Ned 😍), while still focusing on a completely different couple. It also revisits certain things mentioned in the first book, that we now realize is important to this second book, i.e. The Wicken League of Gentlewomen Witches. And finally, I always genuinely enjoy the witty dialogue & the strong, independent nature of all the female characters throughout the story, which is probably why I like this series so much. For those who like the romance aspect more, there definitely is more 🌶️ & angst in this one than the first book, which I don’t really care for tbh but if you felt impatient about the slow burn of the last book, than you definitely would like this one more.

🍵📖 in this hilarious fantasy romance series called Dangerous Damsels, “The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels” is the first book & is appropriately displaying how perfect the series title is with our dashingly dangerous heroine, Cecilia Bassingwaite, who is not only the ideal Victorian lady, but also a masterful pirate & professional thief. Like her aunt, she is part of the notorious Wisteria Society, a crime sorority of pirates that go around in their flying houses & acquiring treasure through interesting means. Then there’s Captain Ned Lightbourne, a sometimes assassin who is tasked with killing Cecilia. The only issue? He’s completely smitten with her, while his employer Captain Morvath, is determined to return the world to patriarchal dominance, starting with the defeat of these Lady Scoundrel pirates 🪻🏠🏴‍☠️☕️🫖🍰 💭 this enemies to lovers romance is probably the most entertaining, witty, & women empowering read ever; I feel like my Jane Austen/Bridgerton fans would enjoy this series so much 🥹 from the very first page, you’re immediately introduced to the witty British sarcasm & humor (which I love so much) & love how there’s so much silliness & unseriousness in a story which has a plot that totally should be serious. With a blend of espionage, romance (for my romance fans, there is indeed a lil 🌶️🌶️), & dangerous, strong pirate women in a historical Victorian setting - this series is so charmingly unique & fun read! I’m almost done reading this trilogy & can attest that each book keeps getting better & better than the last 🥹 🍵 a delicious cosmic bloom matcha latte w/ oat milk 💚🩵💜

‘“When life itself seems lunatic, who knows where madness lies?” In the attic, that is where.’ The Secret Service of Tea and Treason by @india.holton is the third book in the Dangerous Damsels trilogy and it was everything I was expecting and more. When the Agency of Undercover Note Takers (A.U.N.T.), learn of a plot to assassinate Queen Victoria, they assign their two best agents on the case. Agent A, Alice Dearlove, and agent B, Daniel Bixby, are to enter a fake marriage and infiltrate a pirate castle party to retrieve a weapon rumoured to be the very one that will be used for the assassination. Naturally, Alice and Daniel strive to be professional loyal agents, they can never break the rules and fall in love, right? As with the previous two books in the Dangerous Damsels trilogy our two main protagonists start off as rivals who on the surface appear as though they are enemies but underneath harbour intense feelings for one another. Alice is autistic, finding many situations too much of a sensory overload, but Daniel’s awareness as a person with autism too and his support towards her was so pleasing to see. In turn, Daniel is quick to lose patience and Alice is attuned to this and diffuses his irritation before any harm is done. Dr Snodgrass, who is an absolutely disastrous scientist, was saved from Daniel’s wrath many times! The dynamic between Alice and Daniel was so wholesome. This instalment is definitely more character driven with a strong focus on the romance yet it is equally more batshit crazy than its predecessors. If you know me at all you’ll know I’m all in favour of a little chaos in books and the senior members of The Wisteria Society of lady pirates provided this aplenty here. Mrs. Rotunder, Miss Darlington, and Mrs Ogden in particular were absolute insane delights! Every scene with them ended in disagreements, thievery or assignation attempts. When you’re presented with a world of flying houses, women intent on robbing or politefully killing one another, and magic that goes wrong more than it goes right, you cannot help but be entertained and so the Dangerous Damsels trilogy as a whole has been superb fun escapism. #nilsreviewsit

(I returned this book to the library before I could take a better picture! - The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels by India Holton) Such a fun book - a clever satire of romance and period/victorian/historical fiction books that doesn’t feel like making fun of the readers that like those stories. It’s smart and engaging and all characters have a way of making sense in the plot (a very ridiculous but very fun plot). I laughed out loud several times and was impressed by the little details and references to other books and stories. #fiction #romance #victorian #indiaholton #thewisteriasocietyofladyscoundrels #dangerousdamsels #read #reading #readingchallenge #reader #readersofinstagram #book #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #books #aprilreads

Two pretty books I got for my birthday, both of which are part of a series! I just love covers like this, with greenery and plants and pretty font. Are there any other books like these? Bc I totally judge a book by its cover and usually it's pretty accurate 🤷‍♀️ Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands is book two in the series. The first book had a wintery light academia vibe, with a bit of a grumpy x sunshine romance too. I'm excited about the sequel! The Secret Service of Tea and Treason is book three of the Dangerous Damsels series by India Holton, and the series is insane, clever, witty, and slightly ridiculous - in the best way. It's got criminal gentlewomen, swashbuckling (and handsome) pirates, Witches, flying houses, assassins, and general chaos in the Victoria era. It's absolutely amazing. They're both the kind of light fantasy that are magical but easy to get into. I'm still halfway through book two of the Dangerous Damsels series, so will finish that first before I can be swept away by the next one! 🌱🌱🌱 #emilywildesmapoftheotherlands #thesecretserviceofteaandtreason #dangerousdamsels fantasy books #fantasybookstagram

"A book, a cup of tea, and no company; that was Cecilia's idea of heaven." 📔🫖💜 This extremely relatable quote is from India Holton's book, 'The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels' (It's part of the Dangerous Damsels series and I highly recommend you read all three books!!). Cecilia just *gets* it. Having a cup of tea (or whatever your preferred beverage is) while you read your book, uninterrupted - sounds like the perfect way for a bibliophile to spend their time. What's your perfect reading set up? 👇

“A lady stays tranquil and poised under all circumstances. Instead of panicking, she squares her jaw, protects her heart, and ensures that she has enough ammunition to gun down everyone in her path.” - India Holton . I’m currently finishing my reread of the Goblet of Fire and feel like reading something else before I move on to the Order of the Phoenix. I’m thinking of reading the Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels next! 🪻 . I (accidentally) read book 2 in the Dangerous Damsels series last summer and even though these books are supposedly great to read independently, I found that it would’ve been better to have read the first book first. It’s just that there’s a lot of references to this first book so I felt like I wasn’t in on some of the jokes and side plots. I did enjoy it though, so I’m sure this will be a fun read too! 🤍🌿 . Twentieth Manicure: March 19th Color: Cadillacquer "You Always Have A Choice" (3 coats) Finish: Crelly base with iridescent flakes and various metallic glitters  Book: The Secret Service Of Tea And Treason by India Holton I did this manicure two days ago, but I finished them late and then was sick yesterday, so I didn't have a chance to photograph them until today. Luckily, the formula is incredible and looks fresh despite being nearly two days old. Cadillacquer originally had this color exclusive to their advent calendar from last year but brought back a limited bottle supply recently which I am very grateful for. I love all purples and this fun mixture is super varied with hex, square, and mini purple metallic glitters and those really shifty iridescent flakies that are basically invisible unless the light hits them. (It's similar to the Colores de Carole color from the January PPU that I was in love with, but the purple version.) The base builds up really nicely in three coats, and while I can see why this might be too busy for some folks (and honestly, I wasn't so sure about it when I was applying it) overall it's a really fun color. I smoothed it out with the KB Shimmer Glitter Grabber and my regular quick dry top coat, and as you can see, they look fantastic even with a few days wear. The third and final book in India Holton's Dangerous Damsels series was the perfect match for this somewhat zany polish. The Secret Service Of Tea And Treason features that series' signature chaotic humor, enormous heart, and generally wild antics. I also tend to think iridescent flakes are akin to having a little magic on the nails, fitting in perfectly with the fantasy aspect of this series. I can't state enough how much I adore those books and wish everyone would read them, and I cannot wait for India Holton's newest series to start later this year. Until then, Dangerous Damsels forever.  *all products used shown in sixth photo* *disclaimer: I am in no way a professional and this account is purely to document my many polishes and manicures* #nails #2024nails #nailsofonstagram #cadillacquer #indiaholton #thesecretserviceofteaandtreason #tssotat #dangerousdamsels

I finished the last book in the dangerous damsel series on the weekend and I am so sad that the series is over😭 This was a series that made me laugh so much and I will definitely read everything India Holton puts out in the future because her writing style is just so good. ~ In general the series is set in the 19th century England and deals with pirates and witches who use a flying incantation to make houses and other things fly while politely stealing things. Each book is about a different couple and I seriously can't decided which couple or book I like the most🤍 ~ #books #indiaholton #thewisteriasocietyofladyscoundrels #dangerousdamsels #thesecretserviceofteaandtreason #reading

I adore @india.holton’s Dangerous Damsels. No way would I compare myself to her as a writer, but her books, along with these delightful folk tale collections by @lisaschneidau, have provided some wonderful inspiration in my writing. Sum up your current read in one sentence? I’m 100 pages into The Secret Service of Tea and Treason by @india.holton and it’s wildly fun and just a little bit batshit crazy! Needless to say I’m loving it! 😂 This is the third book in the Dangerous Damsels trilogy and this time we follow rival spies, Alice and Daniel, as they enter a fake marriage in order to stop the pirates from assonating Queen Victoria. It’s not going smoothly! I had meant to read this one in December, this is why this photo looks so wintery! I’m very glad I saved it until now though because I really need comforting, fun reads at the moment, so it’s perfect. ———————————————————— #thesecretserviceofteaandtreason #indiaholton #dangerousdamsels #romantasy #fantasy #instabook #instareads #bibliophile #amreadingfantasy #bookaddict #ilovereading #readaholic #currentlyreading #bookphotography #amreadingfantasy #bookstagram #bookish #booksofinstagram #fantasybooks #coverlove #readreadread #booklove #booklover #bookaholic #met_createchange #bookcommunity

🪻Author Spotlight🪻 Featuring India Holton🩵 Fantasy and historial romance are my bread and butter!! That’s what I’ve always loved to read and escape to. So, naturally, when I heard about India Holton’s series, Dangerous Damsels, I pounced. These books are set in the 1800’s Victorian Era London. They feature pirates, witches, scoundrels, thieves, and secrets service butlers and maids. They are hilarious!! So funny and entertaining! The antics and banter that fill these books is vast! I highly recommend you read these if you are a fan of these two genres! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #mybookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookaesthetics #indiaholton #indiaholtonbooks #dangerousdamsels #historicalromance #historicalfantasyromance #biblio #historicalfantasyfiction #historicalfantasy #bibliophiles #bookishlady #authorspotlight #bookishladyclub #bibliomania #bibliolife #bookishlife

Fifteenth Manicure: March 3rd Color: Mooncat "Sabertooth" (3/4 coats) Finish: Matte shimmer (shown with glossy top coat) Book: The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels by India Holton Historically, matte polishes are not my favorite as I have always struggled to stop them from chipping quickly. With this one, I used my usual glossy top coat to change the finish, so hopefully that will add to longevity because I really love this color. Application was fine for the first two coats then it got a little tricky with pulling and struggling to level out. The reason I listed 3/4 coats is due to all the nails except my middle finger being four coats. I had to re-do the middle due to a mess-up with the texture and my top coat the first time, and decided to leave it at three to see if there was a noticeable difference (I'll leave that up to the viewer, because while I can see the slightest difference in shade, I don't think anyone else will without a close examination of all the nails together). Despite some issues with application, the color is so glowy and has that subtle shimmer which I also love. I may try a matte top coat one day, because the color seemed a little more glowy before I added the glossy one.  Another reason to love this color is how it perfectly matches the cover of The Wisteria Society Of Lady Scoundrels by India Holton. I have never laughed so hard reading as I did with this series, and I can't recommend it enough to everyone. It's so unique in its humor and quirkiness, and I experience nothing but pure joy and enjoyment every time I pick up one of the books in this trilogy. One of my all-time favorite series that does not get enough love - if you like fantasy, romance, lady pirates, quippiness, and general chaos, these are the books for you.  *all products used shown in sixth photo* *disclaimer: I am in no way a professional and this account is purely to document my many polishes and manicures* #nails #2024nails #nailsofonstagram #mooncat #mooncatsabertooth  #indiaholton #wisteriasocietyofladyscoundrels #dangerousdamsels

This is the third in my little series of postscripts for the Dangerous Damsels series. I find it a tiny bit hard to think of Daniel and Alice after their story, because I miss them so much and wish I could visit them in real life. * MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD * * Their consulting business goes brilliantly, and Daniel has especial fun doing the accounts and taxes * They buy a lovely house which they keep impeccable even during skirmishes - and aerial soccer games - with pirates * For fun on Saturday nights, they scrub their kitchen floor * Alice is honoured by a special Wisteria Society assassination attempt, and when it fails she is invited for tea and cake instead * William was not planned and they were both terrified at the thought of being parents, but they actually turned out to be great at it, because they know how important it is to let children just be themselves * Alice never does learn to fly the house, but Charlotte teaches her some little witchy spells such as how to dust the ceiling and unbutton a man's clothes while your hands are otherwise occupied * They build a library in a room of their house. It's not as extensive as Cecilia and Ned's, but "every volume in it is a friend."* * They learn about bedsteads and bonds * In the evening they like to sit together at a window, watching the night deepen, and just enjoy the calm, safe quiet of each other's presence * Unless Alex and Charlotte pop by for a visit, in which case usually something explodes #dangerousdamsels #thesecretserviceofteaandtreason (* Anne's House of Dreams reference)
