The Rock of our Ranch, our steadfast matriarch, reigning goat expert, and queen of flowers. 🌸 Our mom was diagnosed with breast cancer fall of ‘21 and fought mightily for two years undergoing chemo, surgery, and radiation. While she was fighting for her life, she wrote and won a highly competitive USDA grant to create her own sock business @shopcaprine. 🧦 A true Hobbit at heart, our mom’s favorite thing to do is garden. So we spent today planting trees for our big tree project. We planted 20 aspens in our doe pasture that will provide shade for animals and surrounding vegetation, wildlife habitat and corridors for birds, and help keep the water table high in the dry seasons. 🌳 Our mom pours her heart and soul into this place and you can truly see it. @king.yellowman in concert last nite! Went w/ my good buddy Kalle to see this legend & pioneer in the #reggae & #dancehall genres from #jamaica. He had a rough childhood… born #albino & abandoned by his parents due to the stigma of his condition, he grew up in an orphanage & embraced his uniqueness, taking on the name Yellowman, & becoming a legend in the scene. But, his #cancer diagnosis in 1984 left him w/ only a few years to live. The invasive jaw surgery he had to remove the tumor left him partially disfigured, but that didn’t stop him. He was told he had 3 years to live… about 40 years ago. This man leaves everything on the stage. At 68 years old, he runs around w/ unlimited energy & vitality. Preaching love & peace, you can tell he is grateful to be alive & still able to tour & connect w/ his audiences. This past year has been crazy for all of us and scary because cancer isn’t something I’m ready to accept yet. It’s scary because I’m not ready to let you go and that’s selfish of me. Happy Mother's Day! ❤️ We came across a powerful story of a mother and daughter who both fought cancer and beat it. Tracy (mom) fought ovarian cancer, and her daughter (Jocelyn) was diagnosed with T-cell leukemia a few short years later. They both fought hard against their cancers and supported one another through treatments. They created a different and stronger bond through this battle. To Tracy and Jocelyn, we are so happy and thankful to hear you are both in remission, and it reminds us how important our bonds are with our moms!

It’s hard to believe that this time two years ago, I had just lost all my hair and was in the thick of hard core chemo. At the time, I was in war mode. Survival! Juggling treatment, kids, fear. Getting through the days, trying to be ‘normal’. I coped really well. I am really proud of myself. But looking back now, I can see how hard it was. How exhausted I was. How shit I felt. Even though I pretended i was ok. I can see how scared I was, even though I tried to suppress it. A year later, I had finished chemo. I had done radiotherapy. And I was a few weeks out of surgery to remove my ovaries. I was 4 months into hormone therapy and starting to feel the side effects. But I was so desperate to get back to ‘me’. To reclaim my body and my fitness. To move forward and leave it all behind. I was completely unrealistic about my recovery. At this point a year ago, I was training for an Olympic triathlon, a 10km running race and a trail marathon. All in one summer. As you do. Less than a year after chemo… I’m happy to have podium-ed in two of those events. But I should have known better. I broke myself. It was far too soon and I was far too fragile. I then spent 6 months hobbling about, trying to fix my feet, unable to run. So here I am, 2 years since chemo. Wiser. Calmer. I have done a lot of talking therapy. And a lot of physio. I have retrained and launched a new business. I am working hard on balance, lowering stress and staying true to myself and what I really want. I’ve realised it’s really easy to get sucked back into the craziness and busy-ness of life. I’m trying not to let that happen. It’s not what I want going forwards. I have come to terms with, and embraced, the idea that I will never go back to the girl I was before. I don’t want to! I am learning to manage the hormone therapy side effects and accept that my body and fitness will never be the same as they were. But I’m ok with that. I’m nearly 50. I don’t need to be performing at my best any more. I just want to be having fun and future proofing myself as best I can, as I get older. I’ve only entered two triathlons this summer. And a little bike race. Just for fun!
𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 I know what pure, unconditional love feels like. I know just how my hand gently molds into your hand. I know how easily my head rests on your shoulder as you comfort me. I know that the unexpected gift of giving to others is far better than receiving. I know the foundation of walking a life of faith is the greatest blessing I could model for my children. I know the importance of doing your best & being your best. I know that taking pride in yourself is important so present yourself accordingly. I know that shopping is good for the soul & homemade Italian broth is the cure for all. I know if you go out with your head wet you might catch cold. I know to never have your gas tank less than half-full. I know to a life with no regrets is the true meaning of living a full life. I know no matter what you are always there for me! I know that you will always be “The Wind Beneath My Wings”. 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝗠𝗼𝗺

She was my rock, best friend, and the best Babushka my daughter could have asked for. She fought a brave battle with cancer, but it was a fight she ultimately lost. Il y a quelques jours, lors d’une discussion autour d’un café avec une amie, je partageais mes réflexions sur mon absence de dons ou de talents particuliers. Pour appuyer mon propos j’ai pris l’exemple de ma sœur qui est une artiste (@liloogox 🧑🏻🎨), de mon amie Mahéva de @fairtrotter_ 🌍 qui sait chanter ou encore ma pote @jessicasuzes qui s’exprime avec aisance sur les plateaux de TV 👑 Alors que moi, je ne sais ni peindre ni jouer d’un instrument de musique, à mon grand désespoir 😂 Elle m’a alors rappelé quelque chose d’essentiel à ma propre identité. Je ne suis pas thérapeute par hasard. J’accompagne, je soutiens, j’écoute, je guide, j’aiguille 🧚🏻♀️ C’est une part intrinsèque de qui je suis, une capacité qui se manifeste sans effort aussi bien dans mon travail que dans ma vie personnelle. Ma connexion naturelle avec les autres, ma sociabilité et ma posture d’écoute sont les traits qui définissent ma personnalité. Cette conversation me permet de faire ici un petit reminder 👇 • Il arrive parfois que l’on ne perçoive pas l’évidence en raison de nos croyances limitantes. • Certaines représentations sociétales entravent notre vision car certains schémas semblent plus valorisés que d’autres. • Nos compétences peuvent ne pas être évidentes au premier abord. • Il est essentiel de comprendre que posséder un « don » n’est pas une fin en soi. • Il existe inévitablement des activités que tu apprécies et pour lesquelles tu as une appétence. • Il est tout à fait possible d’apprécier certaines activités sans nécessairement être doué.e pour celles-ci.
