A beautiful day with family spent @exburygardens the weather was perfect. We had to negotiate a few Donkeys on the road as we made our way through The New Forest. Wonderful Spring blossoms in every colour, a tranquil haven. A quick Steam ride on the outskirts too ( top tip, don’t sit near the front unless you want soot smudges 😂). I love that I can move my body while getting some nice vitamin D and sunshine! Lately I have been mowing in my rain boots because the ticks are my worst nemesis and have been absolutely horrible this year. Plus it’s only the second cut of the year so the grass is still fairly long. A much needed hike close to home. 🚶🏼♀️🚶♂️ I didn't feel like posting anything on Instagram for a while. Busy with work and hospital visits. And what I thought was dealing with depression and trauma turns out I am now also officially a long covid patient. 3 years ago I got corona for the first time. No taste, no smell, sore throat and feeling like there was 10 kilos on my chest while breathing. 1.5 years ago I got it for the second time and since then my health has gone downhill. Because not much is known about it, I thought my complaints came from something else. But now, after many examinations, I have entered the process for long covid. A week ago i got new meds and in 3 months I should be on full dose. Somehow I feel relieved that I'm diagnosed with long covid, even though there is no cure and that I'm not just going crazy. Because so little is known about it, few people take my health problems seriously, because hey, everyone gets tired sometimes, right? 😤 I just try to ignore those people and focus on what makes me feel better. Walking is one of those things. It is good for my fysical health, but it also clears my mind. I am counting down, in 3 weeks I will be walking the Walk of Wisdom again. Something I've been looking forward to for months. Get away from it all and concentrate on myself. Heute im Wald. Das Licht unter dem jungen Laub war grüngolden und zauberisch. Es roch nach Frühlingsregen und erwärmtem Boden und Waldmeister. Die Vögel sangen, als wäre ihr ganzes Leben in diesem Moment. Ich konnte einem wichtigen Menschen die von mir für das Grüne Klassenzimmer des Naturparks Westensee gezeichnete Schautafel im Wald bei Emkendorf zeigen. Und uns gefielen die gleichen Teile am besten. :-) Wir fanden zwar nicht die erhofften Maipilze, aber unseren ersten Schwefelporling 2024. Auf der Schautafel ist der Schwefelporling (Laetiporus sulphureus) im Bereich des Buchenhallenwaldes abgebildet. So ein schöner, sonnenfarbener Pilz, den musste ich unbedingt zeichnen! Eine Menge eindrucksvoller Nacktschnecken, sehr beschäftigte Mistkäfer und eine grandiose, nachtblau glänzende Ölkäferin konnten wir sowohl auf dem Waldboden beobachten, als auch als Motive auf der Tafel wiederfinden. Ein Rothirsch oder Dachs ist uns nicht begegnet, aber am Bachlauf gab es eine Menge Wildspuren. Erfüllt mit grünem Licht, dem Geschmack zarter Buchenblätter auf der Zunge, Regenrauschen und Vogelruf im Ohr, tiefem Atem und einem Körbchen voll Verheißung gings nach Hause. Das Abendessen machte dann restlos zufrieden mit "chicken of the woods" in Saté-Sauce. Was für ein wunderschöner, sonniger und milder Frühlingstag das heute war! Viel zu schön, um Therapie immer nur drinnen zu machen. Deshalb haben wir mit den Klienten bei @regenswagnerlauterhofen den Tag heute, so oft es ging, draussen genutzt. Auch die Natur ist ein perfektes #therapiemedium. Sonne, Wind, blühende Wiesen, Vogelgezwitscher, sogar das eiskalte Wasser der #Kneippanlage geben #sensorischen Input und schulen unsere Sinne. Mit allen Sinnen die Umgebung wahrnehmen, dazu gehört es auch, mal ein Blatt vom #sauerampfer oder von der Brunnenkresse zu probieren, die im Park wachsen. Gerade Menschen, die aufgrund ihrer verschiedenen #handicaps viel Zeit in Innenräumen verbringen, brauchen Eindrücke aus der Natur, um ihr Nervensystem zu trainieren und auch zu beruhigen. Leben in Wohngruppen kann laut und aufreibend sein. Da ist die Ruhe der Natur und die gezielte Einzelförderung umso wichtiger. #sensorischeintegration nennt man das Therapiekonzept, das ursprünglich aus der Arbeit mit Kindern stammt, aber mittlerweile längst den pädiatrischen Horizont verlassen hat und zur Geheimwaffe auch für neurologische Klienten und mehrfachbehinderte Menschen geworden ist. Und wo steht geschrieben, dass man das nur im stillen Kämmerlein indoor machen kann?
