❤️Celebrating another amazing mom, Erica . It’s not just about the weight it’s so much more . 👇👇 "Before I began this journey I was that mom that had every excuse not to do something for herself. I am a 1st grade teacher, I commute 2+ hours a day, I have two little kids at home, I went through some personal hardships, and last year I went back to school full time every Saturday for another certification. My excuses were endless and a lot of time I used my kids as an excuse. Every working mom I think can relate to that “guilty” feeling. I can’t go to the gym because I haven’t seen my kids all day! Finally I woke up one day and I was just tired of feeling tired! I dreaded putting on clothes, I didn’t have energy for my kids when I got home, and overall I just wasn’t happy. That was when I turned to my best friend Lauren Anne!! I signed up for my first challenge and with her support I lost over 10 pounds the first month. But, more than that I felt this sense of clarity I hadn’t had in a long time. I have lost 25 pounds and I am running 3-5 miles a day! I finally feel comfortable in my own skin again. I prefer to focus on "healthy aging" rather than "anti-aging," so here are some healthy aging tips: -Stay active. Any type of movement reduces stress and gives us energy. -Introduce yourself to any kind of strength training in order to maintain and build muscle and bone density (both of which start to diminish around age 30). 💪🦴 -Prioritize quality of training over quantity; the focus should be on adequate intensity (meaning 'til you're breathless or you've reached muscular fatigue). -Adequate intensity workouts can decrease hot flashes or night sweats during perimenopause and increase libido. 🔥 -Allow ample recovery time between workouts as muscle tissue requires more time to heal and repair. -Eat more protein. First thing we did after a 9 hour flight: got in a workout. _ We were exhausted, but exercise helps reset your circadian rhythm which helps with adjusting to a new time zone and reducing jet lag. There’s also the immediate effect of a boost of energy— that was the just what we needed to stay up until nighttime 🙌🏽 _ It also stimulates lymph which is so important after sitting for such a long time. Remember- lymph doesn’t move unless you do 😅🔑 _ And i had the added benefit of extra lymphatic stimulation because i was wearing my @elastiqueathletics set. Essential for me when traveling! Calcium & Heart Health Studies have linked calcium supplements to a higher risk of heart disease and heart attacks. A 20-year study found that men who took calcium supplements had a 20% higher risk of heart attack, while women also had a higher risk of heart attack and stroke. This raises concerns about the health benefits of calcium supplements. A 2016 study concluded that the risks outweigh the potential benefits. While many doctors still recommend calcium supplements for women after menopause, it's important to consider alternative sources of calcium, such as dietary changes or other supplements. The belief that calcium intake helps prevent bone loss and osteoporosis may not be accurate. Excess calcium from supplements may contribute to plaque formation in blood vessels, contributing to heart disease and heart attacks.
