⚡️VANESSA ROSA⚡️is a US based Brazilian visual artist and art historian. Her work merges physical and digital media into a storytelling continuum. Murals become portals into an imaginary world with projection mapping, ceramics metamorphose into living entities with the aid of AI models. Vanessa started with street art in 2010 in Rio de Janeiro, creating works that mixed historical periods with the local environment. Her work gradually evolved into tales of world history and cultural exchange, from Portuguese tiles, Islamic sacred geometry, Chinese porcelain and patterns within indigenous societies. After the 2020 pandemic, Vanessa dived into sci-fi and now she creates a fictional universe called ‘Little Martians’. Passage_SoftRains is on view at the Museo de Artes Visuales in Bogota, Colombia through @imagenfest supported by @onassis.onx and curated by @hyphenhub Passage_SoftRains is a live, simulated interactive multimedia installation where the ecosystem becomes a live instrument. Passage lingers in the realm of the uncanny, born from the inherent tension between digital technology and nature. Biomes are meticulously crafted as pixels, simulated and consumed, operating continuously on a computational level. What does nature look and sound like if it was born out of a computer? The project explores the entanglement of natural and artificial systems through a lush forest of cybernetic flora and fauna, with AI governing their behavior in a game engine. Variables such as the presence of the audience (detected by a fabricated Kinect camera sculpture), time of day, and the relationship between organisms foster emergent behaviors that modulate and alter the audio and visual composition in real time, forming a feedback loop within the techno-biosphere. “Parallels” by ONX members Marc Da Costa and Matthew Niederhauser opens today at the fourth edition of the Istanbul Digital Art Festival (@digitalartfestistanbul). The responsive machine learning installation will be on view from May 2-5, 2024 at the Atatürk Cultural Centre in Istanbul. “Parallels” acts as a portal into a world mediated by neural networks. By discerning environments through a live digital decoding of a changing landscape, it shapes a visceral encounter, dreaming and reframing environments in conversation with those who experience it. The project was first shown with the Onassis Foundation as part of Plásmata II in Ioannina, Greece and also won the Best of Tech award at the FilmGate Miami Immersive Festival. Sofia Zafeiriou is a musician and sound artist born in Naousa and based in Athens, Greece. Her work captures music for ensembles and DIY orchestras, field recordings in nature and in refugee camps, sound that comes from relations of things, sometimes strangely located in the deep. I am super happy to announce that for darkmatterberlin we are bringing back the TONE LADDER (DIE TONLEITER) my very first interactive work, which I created while still studying at the Berlin University of the Arts almost 20 years ago! A household ladder extended with sensors turns into a real musical instrument. The ordinary ladder becomes a TONE LADDER. If you step on a rung or touch it with your hand, a sound or rhythm is created that varies from step to step. An individual piece of music is created by climbing up and down or by touching several rungs of the TONE LADDER at the same time. Whether in pairs as a duet or with several people - a whole band is quickly formed. For darkmatterberlin we will recreate one of my oldest and maybe the first ever walkable interactive projection mapping object the POLYGON PLAYGROUND. The original was presented for the first time in 2008 in the art forest at SMUK Fest in Denmark and is also part of the permanent exhibition of the Daegu Science Center in Korea. POLYGON PLAYGROUND translates a computer-generated object into real space. A seamless 360-degree projection covers the surface like a digital skin that reacts to its environment via sensors. POLYGON PLAYGROUND is a playground for all ages, inviting visitors to experiment. By interacting with the object, everyone becomes part of the work and directly influences its appearance. The first all-electric building of its scale in Silicon Valley, Founders Tower is dedicated to the late co-founders John Warnock and Chuck Geschke, and was designed as a place for employees to foster connection and create the future together, and for the local community to enjoy. As part of the headquarters expansion project, a pedestrian bridge was designed and developed to be an eye-catching and whimsical experience, that seamlessly connects the new and existing three towers on campus and introduces a playful gateway to the city of San Jose. The first all-electric building of its scale in Silicon Valley, Founders Tower is dedicated to the late co-founders John Warnock and Chuck Geschke, and was designed as a place for employees to foster connection and create the future together, and for the local community to enjoy. The first exhibit of darkmatterberlin LIQUID SKY consists of over 800 individual light points which together form a coherent surface. The additional mirroring of the entire room creates an endless light horizon that sparkles like a starry sky or seems to glitter like a river surface in sunlight. The first three installations of the darkmatterberlin exhibition (LIQUID SKY, INVERSE, CIRCULAR) are accompanied as a triptych by the 8-channel soundtrack composed by the Dutch sound designer borisacket. The sounds move from room to room and connect the three installations like abstract living beings communicating with each other.
