Here is a little beauty, “Chester” the King Charles Spaniel who was so loved by his owners that they wanted to celebrate his life with a watercolor portrait. They emailed me a photo, then the first step is creating the line drawing, followed by filling it in with color in stages. Sometimes if the image doesn’t have a clear or interesting background I will add abstract elements to it through shape and color. I always keep the photo close at hand so that the final result is as complementary as possible. This portrait fills me with happiness and love! Does it make you feel anything in particular? 💜 Did you know we’re on the official Audubon map of Purple Martin habitats? Each Spring we’re fortunate to host three multi-family houses. Bird lover Jay comes and sets them up when he receives word that the Purple Martins have reached New Jersey on their annual migration. Have you gotten your 2024 Annual Print yet? The Woodstock School of Art (WSA) chose artist Claudia Waruch to create the 2024 Annual Print. "The Wedding Barn" print is a carved linoleum block relief. The limited edition follows a long tradition of artist printmakers who have been selected to create a new print for its annual fundraiser. However, the edition of 85 is silk screened, showing the diversity of printmaking. The print will be given to contributors of $125 or more to the nonprofit school.
