It was the perfect evening for a Florabike ride! Thanks to @bikecarrboro and @bikechapelhill for organizing and leading the ride. We ambled through the streets, Libba Cotten bike path, and UNC campus to learn more about the issues surrounding local environmental injustices and the climate crisis’ effects on these issues. We heard poetry from Cortland Gilliam, Chapel Hill Poet Laureate and Liza Wolfe Francis, Poet Laureate of Carrboro - both workshop leaders in the project. Super excited to share these signs I made for my @somerset_art_works project I did for the @ymca_brunelgroup in Frome. The young people in the club designed these signs to be installed in the space, as they felt the different zones weren't always clear to new comers. The signs are made from wood and I lazer cut the drawings the young people created, I then collaged the parts on to create a mash up of their ideas! 🎣 ☂️ When what you really need is a fishing rod for the photo, but all you have is an umbrella 💦 Here is the second of two murals I completed last month in Denison, Texas. ⭐️ 🏞️ The mural features Lake Texoma, which lyes on the border of Texas and Oklahoma. Not only is it home to two state parks and wildlife refuges, 12 marinas, and 26 resorts, its fishing and sailing are just a couple of the many recreational opportunities offered at the lake. 🐟 Fun fact! In 2004, a blue catfish was pulled from the lake that weighed 121.5 pounds (55.1 kg), setting a world weight record. The fish was moved to a freshwater aquarium in Athens, Texas. Was riding my bike down Broadway, past Madison Square Park, and encountered the “Portal” art installation, next to the Flatiron Building. A circular screen where people in NYC look at people in Dublin who are looking through their portal screen back at the people in NYC who are looking at them… Mostly people waving at each other and taking pictures of each other through the portal. One guy gave them the finger as he passed by the portal. Another was eating a banana, and I snapped a picture of him as he waved the peel at the Dubliners on the other side of the portal… 🍌🤷♂️

As suas pinturas, onde predominam linhas a preto e branco e manchas de cor estratégicas, compreendem-se como cenários compostos por grandes edifícios, estradas e os mais variados equipamentos urbanos, que denunciam a sua formação em Arquitectura. Artlink’s first public art project, Art in the Park, was initiated in 1994. @aileen.barr, one of Artlink’s three founding artists, worked with a local FAS scheme to make tiles for a seat and environmental tile trail throughout the Swan Park. With the regeneration of the Swan Park after the flood of 2017, Artlink wanted to revisit this project which meant so much to the local community. This new project had developed new ceramic pieces for the park based on the original artwork. Aileen, who has been based in San Francisco since 2002, returned to Artlink to work with local artists in developing designs and delivered a series of presentations and ceramic workshops with local community groups to make tiles for a new seat. Alongside this artist Matthew Porter has been working with the public to make a ceramic trail detailing the biodiversity of the park. During the research phase Artlink worked with Claire Moore (Thompson) from Keeper of the Ways (formerly Foraging Donegal) and Sue and John Shiels who researched and produced a Natural History Survey of the Park commissioned by Buncrana Tidy Towns in 2010-12.
