Having some fun @stlartmuseum, in my very favorite room, the German expressionists, with Gerhard Richter and Anselm Kiefer. I first saw Anselm Kiefer's work at the art museum in St. Louis, when I was maybe 20 years old. It was so different from anything I knew about or had studied or had made artwise. The impression of that huge, textured, dark, gritty artwork left an impression that changed how I looked at and approached art ever after. Palmesel XV secolo Franconia (Germania) Legno di tiglio e vernice La parola tedesca Palmesel (asino di palma) si riferisce alla statua di Gesù su un asino, montata su una piattaforma con ruote, che faceva parte delle processioni della Domenica delle Palme in molte regioni di lingua tedesca fino alla Riforma. Queste processioni, che rievocarono l'ingresso di Cristo a Gerusalemme montate su un asino, erano vivaci spettacoli in cui venivano cantati inni, palme sparse e vestiti sparsi sul terreno davanti al Palmesel. These processions, which reenacted Christ’s entry into Jerusalem mounted on a donkey, were lively pageants in which hymns were sung, palms strewn, and clothes spread on the ground before the Palmesel. The figure of Jesus retains, in contrast, an air of quiet majesty.
