We have a second hero of the month for May Meet Billie, the adorable and resilient spoodle who has captured our hearts since she was just a tiny pup of 10 weeks old. Last weekend, Billie faced a terrifying ordeal when she was unexpectedly struck by an ambulance. It was a moment of panic and fear for everyone involved, but what followed was nothing short of extraordinary. Despite the impact, Billie emerged from the accident with no major injuries, defying the odds and proving herself to be a true miracle dog. Mental Health! ❤️ Mental health is something that I'm pretty passionate about. Suffering from it myself for many years and wanting to help others is what got me into studying psychology myself. It's also taken many years, different GPs, psychologist, and a psychiatrist to get to the bottom of what is happening within my brain and the treatment I need to manage it. I've been an advocate for a healthy mind, and I think it's really important to share the message again that mental health is an illness no different from any other physical illness. It affects your quality of life, the way you feel about yourself, and even the relationships you have. If you had a physical illness and were told medical intervention or therapy could help your quality of life, you would not deny it, so why mental health? Don't tell yourself others have worse going on in their lives and minimise what you are experiencing. What you feel is real to you, and if it's impacting your life, you should seek help. Asking for help is the bravest and most empowering thing you will ever do. You will wonder why you didn't do this sooner. Sometimes, like myself, you have to search a little further for the answers, and that's ok as well. Your health is important, and do everything you need to do to get to the best and healthiest version of yourself. To show people they aren't alone, put a ❤️ in the comments if you have mental illness or suspect you have it. #TedLasso fans - this one is for you. In one of my recent videos for TedLasso_Inspo, we discussed how Ted gave Greyhounds owner Rebecca forgiveness and blamed eloquently after she came clean about trying to sabotage the season. One of our viewers mentioned the bravery she showed in that moment in admitting her faults. I agreed with that comment. Knowing that you have done something wrong and having the strength to genuinely apologize is extremely hard. Biologically, we are wired to lie - its a survival instinct. That’s also why its so hard to do this. With that said, the power to do this comes from removing ego. Ego is that part if your mind that mediates between the conscious and unconscious - simply put, its the bullshit you tell yourself at times to justify certain behavior. Simply becoming aware of those voices in your head in a major step forward. In this episode, Rebecca finally becomes aware that her actions were based on the voices of hate and vengeance, and that wasn’t who she wanted to be. She became aware and had the bravery to take action. Its a fantastic learning moment for all of us. As always, be patient with your progress, but challenge yourself to practice.
