This week holds a lovely celebration for me that I wanted to share ~ I'm so touched to have the privilege to continue my journey with @lululemoneurope as the Cambridge yoga ambassador for one more year. Morning randomness and some JAPANESE WISDOM If it’s not yours, don’t take it. If it’s not right, don’t do it. If it’s not true, don’t say it. If you don’t know, shut up. AND I WILL ADD... If it’s in the way - walk around it !🤭 Story viewers will know what I’m talking about.🤭 If you’re in the garden centre - And there’s a rocking chair in the way - don’t kick it ! I stopped dead in my tracks with the pain yesterday. Yes - I know that sounds dramatic! But - S’true Yannow. Or maybe, now I know what it would feel like to be kicked in the proverbial balls - shew- it very nearly took my breath away. The pointy curve of wood that I had walked into must have blown the vein. I watched it swelling up into a little egg shape - in super slow motion - just like a cartoon animation. Anyhoo - apparently frozen chocolate takes away the bruising because it looks miraculously cured this morning ! Dad’s shoes. I wore his coat today too on my walk. I’m finding it feels so different to how I imagined it would…it’s both normal and hard…it’s strange and devastating but it’s also school runs, work, flowers emerging, picking up dog poo, GCSE’s, longing for holidays. And sometimes I don’t even think I’m grieving very well but then I give myself a gentle jab in the ribs “well? You silly billy…there’s no ‘well’ to this”… and I remind myself that while the end months and weeks of Dad’s life felt like they had their own time zone that right now there is no urgency…this new is forever and so I don’t have to rush anything; not one feeling, not one thought, not one mood… and so I just allow. #keepgriefweird

Infusing today with some buoyancy and lightness ~ I find exploring this element in my practice medicinal, especially when I am touching into what feels really heavy to hold. So today, I asked myself these questions: Where and how can I find a sense of space in my body? How can I draw energy in and up, enlivening my system and my perspective? What feels like a softer and fuller container of care? I can tend to myself in both yang and yin/stillness in these ways - Incorporating in balancing poses to my movement practice, like crow pose, allows me to explore an uplifting quality of energy while also staying rooted. Playing with elements of cat/cow enables this sense of buoyancy to be felt, woven in amongst lovely, slow but fluid flows. How I incorporate buoyancy into my yin (👉 if you scroll to the second photo) is in a long-held, supported shoulder stand. Allowing the ground to hold me, a soft block on a low setting under my sacrum, eyes closed to reduce stimuli and input - and rest here for some minutes. The balance of both elements in my practice is tonic for the soul! I speak three languages……. English, Afrikaans and gifs. Gifs are like little gifts - from me to you ! I can express almost every emotion, and response with a gif! In fact, If I could put one here, I would. 🤭 Gifs, like winky faces, are my way of injecting some lighthearted fun into a conversation. “BEHAVE !” Can be quite intimidating if it isn’t accompanied by my favorite gif, which I hope imparts a sense of fun into the statement ! “Thanks a bunch” could sound quite glib if the gif of Freddie Mercury with a bunch of bananas on his head doesn’t follow! I’m sure if you’ve messaged me here I’d have sent you one by now. I have a stash of favorites that make me smile and I hope if I send them - the smile spreads to your face too! Today’s #wordoftheday … Is … the little German gem…. MORGENMUFFEL A person who is grumpy in the morning and doesn’t like to wake up early. I’m feeling a bit Muffle-ish this morgen. But I’m guessing that’s my allergies playing up since I almost died yesterday breathing in the pollen seed of the dreaded Goat willow. Floating around on the warm breeze - it entered my nose traveled down my throat and almost choked me to death! My second workshop offering at Noisily 2024! I love to teach Yin yoga and I believe that I do so in an accessible and inclusive way. When I teach Yin yoga classes, I offer a whole variety of postures with prop suggestions so that every body will be able to access each pose's target area and desired effect. Of course, at the festival we will have less props to hand but we will have what we have! This is such a beautiful workshop with postures, breath and guided meditation, and will be so wonderful to ground and resettle the body and mind after a night being wild and free in the forest. I'm delighted we'll have so much time to explore and play with. If you need to dip in and out that is totally cool too. But give it a go, especially if you've never tried before.
