If you’ve been keeping up with me, you know I’ve recently discovered the fabulous author Monica Arya ♥️. She just released a new thriller, and if you’re a fan of dark, gripping stories, you need to read this book. In fact, you should check out all of her thrillers! This was another great read and one that I enjoyed completely. I had been stuck in this phase where every book I picked up just sucked. Didn’t thrill me, didn’t entertain me, didn’t do anything but make me not want to read it. So TY for getting me out of that slump. Demi is homeless and desperate for a way to make some money, so when she sees an ad for a live-in maid position she quickly applies for the job and gets it. Only Demi doesn’t realize she’s walking right into a trap, because soon she will become the Ivory’s next favorite girl - and you’d never want to be their favorite girl. I loved Demi’s character, she has such a big heart and is always putting others before herself. Even though she’s had a rough life, nothing will stop her from living the life she wants. This is one twisted book. I so loved that this author called Rose from the Titanic out, while also praising her. The Favorite Girl is dark, twisty, horrific, and sadly, probably not too far from reality for some people. 🤍 The Favorite Girl 🤍 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 By @monicaaryaauthor Oh my goodness. What the ... did I just read? My skin is crawling and I feel a little bit sick ... Okay, but in all honesty, this book was hands down so gripping and addictive, that I read it in two days. Not only was I turning the pages wanting (no, NEEDING!) answers, but also it was just so ... wrong ... that I couldn't put it down. I found the writing very easy to read despite the morbid topic and I flew through the chapters, each one urging me to keep reading. The only reason why it didn't get 5 full stars from me is that the ending just felt off. It didn't quite make sense and there was a random plot hole that I think was there more for gross factor than anything. However, a brilliantly disturbing and superb thriller. 5🌟 REVIEW THE FAVORITE GIRL BY @monicaaryaauthor Once again, Ms. Arya pulls you into her dark and haunting world of thrillers. I was privileged to be a Beta reader and was warned that this book is like no other book she has written. It would be darker and more haunting, and boy was she right. The Favorite Girl is an addictive, heart-stopping, stomach-turning, haunting, captivating, and page-turner story, and these are just some of the words I would use to describe this book. Yes, there are triggers at the beginning of the book, and I do suggest you read them. However, I did have a trigger and still couldn't put the book down. The way that Ms. Arya has your mind going in one direction, and then all of a sudden, she twists and turns things that now have you going in another one. So many times, I thought I had an idea of what was happening and who everyone was, and then she dropped and all my thoughts went out the window. I was never a thriller reader, however, Ms. Arya has enticed me with her brilliant and fascinating writing style. When you stay up all night to finish a book and get so engrossed that you are at the end but you want more, that for me is the work of a very talented writer. another bomb, Congratulations on another thought-provoking, spine-tingling, and twisted story that will forever live in my mind and nightmares. Was on a little social media break but of course I had to come back and scream about The Favorite Girl which releases TODAY!!!!!! Monica’s darkest book yet is one of my absolute favorite books I’ve read so far this year. My full review is also posted on my page if you missed it!! I was a little unnerved when I saw the prompts at the start for readers to check the trigger warnings... I never check the trigger warnings as I feel like they can be a spoiler for what may happen in the book. So I went in blind... This book is brutal. Dark and so shocking. I read so many thrillers that it takes a lot to surprise me, but this book managed to do it. I felt immediately sorry for the main character, and the sense of intrigue around her new job is so strong, the tension built up superbly. I am still picturing some of the scenes even days after finishing it. I loved it, and it is unforgettable, and unputdownable at its finest. My first book from Monica Arya, and definitely not my last. 📚ARC Book Review📚 Title: The Favorite Girl Author: Monica Arya Pub Date: May 14, 2024 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wow… Just like that Monica Arya has become a must-read author for me and The Favorite Girl has become one of my favorites reads of this year so far! This book is dark, twisted, and disturbing and I absolutely loved it! With no money to her name, Demi accepts a job with the Ivory family as their housekeeper. Although the interview is less than normal and the family displays odd behaviors from the start, she is desperate so she accepts the job anyway… I mean what can be that bad about working for a wealthy family with a very handsome son in a huge house where you get to live and eat for free and they even call you The Favorite Girl? This book is full of twists, triggers and things that will make you ask yourself if you really just read what you think you did! I love an intense thriller that delivers with shock value and jaw dropping moments and this one did just that! As soon as I started reading it, I knew I’d be hooked and I devoured it in two sittings! I honestly don’t know how she comes up with these ideas, but I do know that if Monica writes it, I will read it! Definitely go pick this one up and move it to the top of your tbr asap! Monica’s mind is simultaneously brilliant with what she can come up with yet horrifying, but in the BEST possible way! This one delivered on all fronts and then some. “But that’s the thing about monsters; they don’t lurk in the shadows like stories convince us...no, they prowl right in the open.” She executed a completely original idea for a thriller, (which I think is nearly impossible to do these days), and managed to leave my mind in a perpetual state of shock! I appreciated that behind this twisted and insanely dark, atmospheric, and captivating thriller, is a much bigger message and meaning. But that means that I get to SHOUT it out earlier than release day, “If you have not read a book by this author yet, YOU ARE SLEEPING ON HER!!” What are you waiting for?? I can’t be the only account that you have seen raving about this author’s work!! I just can’t be. I myself, am seeing more and more people reviewing her books and just loving them like I do!! I still have more of her backlist to read and I can’t wait to get to all of her books. This particular book however, comes out in just two short weeks!! You must grab your copy ASAP! You won’t regret it. I’m not going to say much about this book at all. Other than you DON’T want to be The Favorite Girl. Trust me. You’ll have to read the book to find out why. Or read the synopsis as you add it to your tbr on Goodreads. 😜 But I say go into it blind. There are a ton of trigger warnings though, so be sure to check them out beforehand. I didn’t know what to expect from this book, and one thing I loved most about it, as I kept reading, I didn’t know what to expect next! This book was twisted, in more ways than one. And only someone as brilliant as Monica herself could write a book like this! I love the fact that I never knew what was coming. I can normally always guess what’s coming in thrillers, but not this one. Each chapter kept you further on the edge of your seat, wanting, and needing to know more! The Favorite Girl by Monica Arya 🤍🕊️ “But that’s the thing about monsters; they don’t lurk in the shadows like stories convince us… no, they prowl right in the open.” First off - if there’s one thing I love seeing it’s an author’s growth from book to book and boy was this Monica’s best written book that I’ve read. Like truly it was so so well rounded and complete I just have to highlight that. Now for the review of the book itself - holy f*ckin sh*t was this book INTENSE…and I freakin ate it UP. Monica was not joking when she told us this was her darkest yet. I read the first 40% and was like “eh, I don’t think it’s that bad”…. Boy did I eat my words. This book was so dark (check trigger warnings if needed please I beg you). I didn’t check the trigger warnings because I always love going into books blind and this book was just wow, a doozy, but a doozy that I LOVED. If you like your books completely dark and deranged and twists out the ass, I strongly recommend this book. Monica, I love and adore you & your messed up brain. Thank you for writing these stories that I seem to never be able to get over.
