Unpeated Sauternes barriques #367 and #369 yielding 480 bottles at a healthy 55% Antique gold leaf colour with @ardnamurchandistillery trademark magnificently oily legs. On the subtle nose there’s initially freshly grated white chocolate and coconut, then the fruits appear-dried apricots and flinty lychee. First sip coats the mouth like no whisky I’ve experienced before..OMG! 😍 A texture like condensed milk oozes unctuously over the palate, then a tidal wave of warming candied ginger, milk chocolate and dried apricots-absolutely fabulous! The tiniest pinch of sea salt follows on the medium-long finish as the apricot fades and the chocolate becomes a pleasantly bitter mocha. I *may* be slightly biased but - boy this is special!! J’espère que vous profitez bien de cette période des ponts de Mai pour vous ressourcer et faire quelques dégustations! ☀️ 🥃 ▪️ Aujourd’hui je vais vous parler d’un whisky qui vient de mes origines: ARTESIA de chez @tosdistillery et qui vient de sortir un whisky tourbé, qui est une 1ere pour cette marque! ▪️ L’orge tourbé nous vient d’Ecosse (valeur sur hein ☑️) et le vieillissement s’est fait avec d’anciens fûts de bourbon (valeur sur x2) . Un choix de 46% en ABV qui est une décision faite par pas mal de marque et qui semble un bon compromis entre des obligations financières et une puissance nécessaire niveau aromatique! ▪️ Niveau dégustation, c’est un whisky bien fait, étonnement assez frais et fruité, je m’attendais à qq chose de lourd au nez on retrouve l’orge grasse et chaleureuse… Mais en bouche c’est tout l’inverse! Il y’a des agrumes qui viennent acidulé une belle salinité… qui devient au fur et à mesure minérale… intéressant et jolie fûts je pense. ▪️ Agréablement surpris pour tout vous dire! Vous avez eu l’occasion d’y goûter ?! An absolute must do event during the Spirit of Speyside is visiting Tamdhu Distillery. I've been here in previous years but always enjoy coming back for a tour. The team are amazing, I can't remember ever having laughed so much and having such fun on a tour anywhere! That's for another upcoming post though! It was also the perfect opportunity to sample and treat myself to this years Dalbeallie VII festival release 😇 As with all Tamdhu releases it's a real sherry monster and for that I love it! Coming in at a hefty 61.8% and limited to 1000 bottles it's definitely a dram to try if you get the chance! Sun’s out and so is our siren song! A cocktail with a classic nature to it, come try the beautiful song that is our namesake. Using @nordesgin, with its aromatic, refreshing, almost floral flavor, and Mata vermouth, this Spanish gin and Spanish vermouth go hand in hand. Add in the local botanical amaro @amaroamaricano (bianca edition) and a dash of rose water and we have a cocktail that feels as if it should have been a classic ages ago. Whisky wise, there is close to nothing more exciting than a new Ledaig on my shelves ! As soon as this @tobermorydistillery Ledaig Triple Wood was announced, I knew one or five needed to find their way on my shelves ! This NAS is a mix of Bourbon? Port and Wine casks, bottled at a healthy 53.8% ABV, and is much affordable at around 150$CAD. Some of my favourite casks paired with the delicious dirty funky peat from Ledaig should make this an instant winner ! I have very high hopes as Master Distiller @julieann_whisky has not been disappointing me in the past ! What’s your take on this release ? Cadenhead Staoisha 9yo red wine finish. Peated Bunna and wine is one of those great combinations. This one is fairly young, and with 3 years in the wine cask is more second maturation than finish. Bring it on. Thick, chewy smoke, then a wave of blackberry, cola bottles, cola cubes, soot and ash, rhubarb, welly boots, burnt toffee, treacle, vimpto and bitter coffee. There is a lot of wine influence here, but that peated 58.0% ABV Bunnahabhain spirit smacks it back into line. A bold, berry, peaty, salty, earthy, dram. Lovely stuff. This was from the Autumn 2023 outturn, but I think will work a treat as a firepit dram this summer 😋 Slàinte mhath 🥃!

In Celtic mythology, there isn't a specific figure named "Angus, King of Summer," but there is a prominent character named Angus Óg, also known as Angus Mac Og or Aengus. He's a god of youth, love, and poetic inspiration in Irish mythology. Angus is associated with beauty, creativity, and the joys of youth. One of the most famous stories involving Angus Óg is the tale of his pursuit of the beautiful Caer Ibormeith, a maiden cursed to take the form of a swan for part of the year. Angus fell in love with her after seeing her in a dream and spent years searching for her. Eventually, he found her at Loch Bel Dracon, where she and her fellow swans were held captive by a magical spell. Angus transformed himself into a swan and joined her flock. When she saw him, she recognized him from her own dreams, and they flew away together, breaking the curse and living happily ever after. Though Angus Óg isn't explicitly called the "King of Summer," his association with youth, love, and the natural world certainly aligns with the themes of summer in Celtic mythology.
