This new release emphasizes Milam & Greene’s commitment to quality that whiskey fans expect from the boutique distillery of premium whiskeys. The Bottled in Bond Straight Bourbon Whiskey, the distillery’s latest addition to its esteemed year-round whiskey portfolio is expected to be a highly coveted bourbon. To produce this Bottled in Bond bourbon, the Milam & Greene team used its signature mashbill featuring malted rye, which offers a richer texture and a slight nuttiness, and its proprietary yeast recipe that provides balance. The resulting whiskey has richness and depth that is characteristic of each Milam & Greene whiskey, whether created in the copper pot stills in Blanco, Texas, or with the collaborative partner in Bardstown, Kentucky. “We’ve been eagerly monitoring the maturation of this bourbon for almost five freaking years and watching how it has developed into its gorgeous flavors over time,” says Heather Greene, Whiskey blender and CEO of Milam & Greene. “I am over the moon with how this turned out. The Norfolk Popcorn Single Grain Whisky from the English Distillery that is the result of experimentation with bourbon-esque ingredients, in which they settled on a mix of maize (which makes up the majority), rye and barley matured in virgin oak casks. Non-chill filtered and natural colouring. Changing door handles in the house and need a little break 🤗 I am having Swedish Mackmyra Mack single malt whisky. Matured in ex-bourbon and bottled at 40% abv. It has a young herbal palet and lots of pear, citrus, peach and some vanilla. Made to be the peoples preferred single malt whisky in Sweden and very affordable. Cheers 🥃
Oooooh, I've been trying to get my hands on a bottle of this since it's realease a few months ago, I loved its predecessor #alltgleann and this, as I'd hoped, does not disappoint! A gracious friend gave me a sample and it's sent my senses into the stratosphere. On first sniff I could have believed it was a solid islay expression with its deep velvety pettiness but its body gives the game away with that characteristic Skye signature @torabhaig_distillery flavour, the oloroso influence is front and foremost with cinnamon spices swiftly followed by fleshy dried fruits from its time in PX casks. Delicious! Tonight's double dram tasting will be from @glengariochmalt distillery. Glen Garioch ("Glen Gee-ree or Geery", as it's known locally in the Doric dialect of Aberdeenshire) is a distillery that produces some of my favourite liquid and tonight I have two bottles that I was treated to at Christmas time. - Founders reserve 1797, no age statement, 48% Abv. Is a bottle of sweetness... if you've read a few of my posts you'll start to see a trend with my palette and choices. Vanilla, butterscotch and fresh green fruits. Buttercream and citrus as it says for the tasting notes. I love the fresh fruits but it's the long finish of amber warmth, Vanilla and butterscotch that makes this a go-to-dram. - 12 Year old, 48% Abv. Again, sweet goodness with more oakyness shining through. Bourbon and Sherry casks have been married together to give you flavours of fresh heather, rich poached pear and sweet malt barley. Crème brulee is one of my favourite tasting notes ever! A long finish is very much appreciated. I love these bottles. Trying them side by side is a wonderful way to see what Glen Garioch distillery is doing. These bottles have been a constant of Glen Garioch's range and I'm very happy about that. Review #288 - SMWS 44.152 'Polly Put the Kettle On' - Craigellachie 9 Year A Craigellachie single cask, with a 2012 vintage, from Speyside - it's an unusual cask from the distillery, as well, as it sees no sherry maturation or finishing. Instead, this was matured in a second fill bourbon cask, and then bottled at only 9 years old, so there's a chance this will still be quite spirity. Then again, that's the sort of bottling that allows us to dive into the real character of a distillery. The Scotch Malt Whisky Society has bottled over 150 casks now from Craigellachie, or distillery #44; the place is known for its use of worm tub condensers, which can add an oily, umami character to the spirit. Because this bottle is presented at a cask strength of 59.2%, and it's not chill filtered, we should have a great chance to find nuances like that. Nose: Strong and spirity - dry at first, with oak and a soft wood smoke. There's a vegetal, funky character to the spirit as well, slightly earthy at times, maybe some petrichor involved. Apple and white peach, along with vanilla, adds a slightly sweeter side; hints of honey and brown sugar can be found later. There is just a little savory scent lingering in the background. Palate: Oily, but also dry - dusty oak, sawdust, hints of sour malt, and white pepper to start. Fruit arrives in the form of dry peach, a bit sharp, and there's some baking notes of clove, nutmeg, vanilla, and caramel popcorn. It's quite warm and spirity. Finish: Warm, and full of baking spice. Vanilla, burnt caramel, and various brown baking spices are here, along with mild oak and some wood sugars. Applesauce, sour malt, and tannins are accent flavors and sensations in the aftertaste. Şeri şarabına dair hap bilgiler ve viskiye etkileri! 🥃 🍷 Şeri başlığı viski kitabımın en özen gösterdiğim kısımlarından biri olacak fakat burada da çok kısaca şeri türlerinin birkaçından, viskiye etkilerinden ve geçtiğimiz hafta yaptığım Jerez turunda öğrendim hap bilgilerin bazılarından bahsetmek istiyorum. 🇪🇸 Fino, Manzanilla, Palo Cortado, Amontillado, Oloroso, Cream ve Pedro Ximenez (PX) olmak üzere farklı şeri türleri bulunuyor. Bu şeri türleri kullanılan üzüm ve fıçıda yapılan biyolojik yıllandırma adı verilen sürecin farklılaşmasına göre ayrışıyor. 🪵 • Fino: Ana şeri türü diyebiliriz. “Fine” anlamına gelen bu şeri türü meyvemsi, tuzlu ve hafif ekşi karaktere sahip. Viskiye kuru, hafif meyve ve tatlı nüanslar katıyor. • Oloroso: “Aromatic” anlamına gelen bu şeri türü adından da anlacağı üzere yoğun ve gövdeli bir şeri. Viskiye kuru meyve ve fındık/badem gibi nüanslar kazandırıyor. Oloroso bekleyen fıçılar viski yıllandırmasında oldukça popüler. • Palo Cortado: “Wrong wine” olarak da bilinen Fino üretirken mayanın çalışmaması sonucu yanlışlıkla ortaya çıkıyor. All systems grow - our third malt floor trials are now underway! 🌾 Our motto ‘dare to be honest and fear no labour’ is particularly fitting for these next two weeks. Along with being incredibly hard work for the production team (who need to rake the barley by hand), our annual malt floor trials always present unique challenges. Earlier in the week, we kick-started the malting process by steeping the barley in water, forcing germination to begin. In this picture, you can see our homegrown barley at 2 different stages: our barley mountain in the background, harvested and patiently waiting to be used in production, and in the foreground, our makeshift malt floor with freshly steeped barley, ready to start sprouting! 🌱

A couple of more bottles I tried while in Cluj. When @florin.ilioiu and I got to the hotel and met with our friend @mariusveremia, Marius pulled out a couple of really good bottles. Warm up, drinking something before we go out drinking, you know. The first was from Elixir Distillers’ The Single Malts of Scotland range. I’ve posted another bottle from them a couple of months ago, a Laphroaig. This one’s a Caol Ila, aged 12 - dare I say, this is what a Caol Ila 12 should be like. 😁 Really good stuff.
