Prima prijs/kwaliteitverhouding hebben deze whisky’s; we hebben ze zelf gisteravond nog maar eens getest. We hebben een leuke actie bedacht ermee. Bij aankoop van een fles whisky bij ons vanaf 30 euro mag je een sample uitkiezen van 3cl Bij aankoop van een fles whisky bij ons vanaf 50 euro mag je een sample uitkiezen van 6cl Deze actie loopt zolang de voorraad strekt van de sampleflesjes! Millstone 100Rye Whisky wordt gedistilleerd uit 100% rogge in kleine koperen Potstills bij Zuidam Distillers. Deze nieuwe spirit rijpt minimaal 100 maanden op nieuwe Amerikaanse eikenhouten vaten. In de neus geeft het rijke tonen van citrusfruit en kruiden met delicate tonen van honing gecombineerd met vanille en eik. De smaak is rijk aan fruitige tonen, honingzoet en delicate kruidige tonen. Gevolgd door een lange peper vanille smaak en een eiken afdronk. In vergelijking met de Millstone 92Rye whisky is deze whisky steviger van aard. Het verschil zit hem voornamelijk in leeftijd en het alcoholpercentage. Millstone 100Rye werd in 2016, 2022 én 2023 uitgeroepen tot de beste RYE Whisky op de World Whisky Awards! Na het daverende succes van de eerste Timorous Beastie ‘Cheese Cellar Collection’ editie afgelopen jaar, komt Douglas Laing nu met het vervolg. Waar de roemruchtige muis in de voorgaande editie een finish op portvaten heeft gehad, blijft hij trouw aan Portugese invloeden met ditmaal een finish op Madeira-wijnvaten. Deze Blended Malt bestaat uit een mengeling van vaten Blair Athol, Glen Garioch, Dalmore en Glengoyne whisky en dat dan samen laten rijpen op een mooi Madeiravat gaat wel iets moois in je glas zijn. In de smaak proef je toffee, gekarameliseerde appels en een milde kruidigheid in de afdronk zoete vanille en sinaasappelmarmelade.

~Akkeshi Blended Whisky Daikan Ex-Van~ Daikan is the sixth bottle and is a blended whiskey. This one also has a higher list price than previous blended whiskeys. It’s a whiskey that will keep you warm during the cold winter, and the key malt used is raw liquor aged in Mizunara casks from Hokkaido. Hiroshima's Sakurao may have been around for close to a century, but its revitalisation has brought it into the new wave of craft whisky distillers coming out of Japan. With its inaugural debut of its very own single malt, the distillery has begun to develop its two brands Sakurao and Togouchi - one distillery, two ageing locations (Sakurao is more coastal with larger temperature changes, whereas Togouchi is housed in a former railroad tunnel that is consistent and cooler in temperature but also incredibly humid). While the Togouchi brand is not new, with a mix of world whisky blends and now its own Japanese single malt, it seems that Sakurao is intent on giving the Togouchi brand the same attention as it does with Sakurao (which only has its brand focused on its own Japanese single malt). In 2023, we saw the first distillery released limited edition Sakurao Stillman's Selection, and now in 2024, we can look forward to a Togouchi Stillman's Selection, which has been named the Togouchi Misty Stillman's Selection. The new expression is named after the natural forest fog that develops in the Togouchi tunnels nestled in the forests of northwestern Hiroshima's mountains. The humidity in Togouchi is said to be tough on barrels, causing the hoops holding the barrel's staves together to rust to the point of breaking. Link in bio for more!

Let’s just start off by saying I LOVE @wildturkey in general, but Rare Breed is one of my favorite bourbons. Perfect proof point at 116.8, great price around ~$55, and it’s basically available anywhere at any time. It’s a blend of 6, 8, and 12 year old bourbons too which is nice. Let’s jump into my thoughts! The nose is inviting with notes like cherry, caramel, toffee, and a little citrus on the backend. As for the palate, the proof is obviously there but considering it’s 116.8, I still think it’s very approachable. It doesn’t drink crazy hot and I feel this is a great pour for entry level barrel proof people and long time enjoyers. It’s sweet and silky showing a combo of notes like caramel syrup, cherry, maple, and a spicy oak finish. The palate lingers for a while with some sweet orange, maple syrup, brown sugar, and that spiced oak note. This is a bottle that will never leave my shelf. I’ve stretched this one out for a while because I have a good selection to choose from, but I will never not have Rare Breed. 🦃

🇪🇦🇲🇽Para poner el broche final a lo que ha sido un gran @bilbaowhisky, participamos en la cata de Nikka desaparecidos dirigida por Roger Rueda, @rogerruedacrespo , que nos presentó 4 blends de esta gran marca de whisky. Los escogidos fueron: Taketsuru Black Label Nikka Pure Malt White The Nikka 12 Tsuru 17 Comencemos con el Taketsuru. Esta mezcla de maltas, nos ha parecido un gran whisky, destacando por una nariz compleja, donde encontramos chocolate, toffe y café, fruto rojo, ligera especia y un ligero ahumado entremezclado con toques verdes y frescos de manzana. En boca es sedoso, con toques de fruta, toffe, ligeramente salino, con una ahumado muy suave, dejando un final especiado pero fresco, cercano al eucalipto. Muy Bueno. Continuamos el Pure Malt White, una mezcla de whiskies japoneses y escoceses, proveniente de Ben Nevis. Un whisky, más sencillo que el resto de sus hermanos, que destaca por una suave nariz, mermelada de frutas y ligera especia, finalizando con un ligero ahumado. Esto se traslada, inicialmente, a un toque resinoso y ligeramente especiado, que se transforma en ahumado. En un segundo trago, aparece una mezcla deliciosa de ahumado con frutas, con un final fresco al paladar. El tercer componente de la cata es un viejo conocido del club, The Nikka 12, y del que hemos disfrutado bastante. Un whisky complejo, cremoso, con toques de miel, fruta verde, chocolate, y un final fresco y especiado que no te deja parar de salivar. Uno de nuestro favoritos con una piedra de hielo. Por último, el esperado Tsuru 17. Este whisky, del que se comenta que fue la ultima mezcla en la que trabajo el fundador de la marca, Masataka Taketsuru, ha sido una muy grata sorpresa. En nariz es floral, dulce, miel, con toques vinosos de jerez, incluso láctico, y con una madera muy agradable y equilibrada. Esto se traslada en boca, a un whisky complejo y proporcionado, con fruta, especia, frutos secos, ligera especia y un gran final. Maravilloso. Una compra segura. Agradecer a Roger por darnos la oportunidad de probar estos whiskies, especialmente el Tsuru 17, y esperemos verle pronto por Bilbao para poder probar alguna de sus joyas de whisky japonés. Sláinte

La proprietà fa parte del gruppo @diageo , e produce il mio whisky preferito (o almeno, lo era fino a prima di scoprirne altri mille nuovi qui🤪). Con più di 2,5 milioni di litri prodotti annualmente, è sicuramente tra le più famose distillerie del panorama scozzese, fondata "ufficialmente" nel 1815, anche se molte distillerie hanno avuto la licenza in quell'anno, ufficiosamente producevano whisky da molto prima! Costruita vicino alle rovine del castello di Dunyveg (dimora del Lord delle Isole fino a fine '800), utilizza l'acqua del lago Solum e l'orzo dalla malteria di Port Ellen. La torba sfiora i 35ppm, e grazie ai pot still che creano poca interazione coi vapori durante la distillazione, si ottiene un prodotto più viscoso e ricco di aromi rispetto alla media delle distillerie di Islay, ed è per questo che lo adoro!! 🏴 My journey continues, and for the second stop, I choose to visit the @lagavulinwhisky distillery! This property, part of the @diageo group, produces my favorite whisky (or at least, it was until I discovered a thousand new ones here🤪). Producing over 2.5 million liters annually, it's certainly among the most famous distilleries in the Scottish landscape. Officially founded in 1815, though many distilleries were licensed in that year, unofficially they were producing whisky long before! Built near the ruins of Dunyveg Castle (home of the Lord of the Isles until the late 1800s), it uses water from Loch Solum and barley from the Port Ellen malting. The peat touches 35ppm, and thanks to the pot stills that create minimal interaction with vapors during distillation, you get a product more viscous and rich in flavors compared to the average Islay distillery, and that's why I love it!! . #lagavulinwhisky #lagavulindistillery #diageo
