It is located between Broad and Walcot Streets, which both merge onto Northgate Street. Located next to the Post Office Building, the south tower (referred to as the W tower) fronts Northgate street and is prominent on Bath's skyline. The current structure was designed by George Phillips Manners. It possesses a fine example of a Sweetland Organ. The Church of St Michael's is known as St Michael's Without—it being the first church to be found outside Bath's city walls when exiting from the North Gate. The parish itself was known as St Michael's with St Paul's. In 2013, with the closure of Holy Trinity Church Queen's Square, the parish boundary grew as the two parishes were merged under St Michael's. Red On Blue. Royal Mineral Water Hospital, Bath, Somerset. TAKEN - Tue 20th Dec'22 The hospital was founded in 1738 as a general hospital for the poor in the city centre, where the frontage of its building still reads Royal Mineral Water Hospital. Thus it is known locally as "The Mineral Hospital" or "The Min". The hospital moved to a new building at the Royal United Hospital (RUH) site at Combe Park in 2019. From the 16th century, the needs of the "deserving poor" who came to take the healing waters of the Roman Baths were recognised and they were allowed free use of the waters. This attracted beggars; large numbers of people visited the city but St John's Hospital was only accessible to local residents. Proposals in 1716 for a hospital to receive them were supported by Lady Elizabeth Hastings, Henry Hoare, Joseph Jekyll, William Oliver, Beau Nash and others. The hospital was established in 1738 as The Mineral Water Hospital. It provided care for the impoverished sick who were attracted to Bath because of the supposed healing properties of the mineral water from the spa. The original building, designed by John Wood the Elder, was built with Bath stone donated by Ralph Allen and completed in 1742. It was enlarged in 1793 by the addition of an attic storey, and in 1860 by a second building erected on the west side of the earlier edifice. A fine pediment, in Bath stone, on the 1860 building depicts the parable of the Good Samaritan. 📍 Woodspring Priory, Kewstoke to Sandbay I think I broke the world record yesterday! I drew back the curtains at 7.25am, saw the blue sky, nearly fainted, threw Flos in the car, whacked on the hiking boots and parked up at 7.58am! Even managed to make a flask of tea… result I highly recommend this walk to any locals. I pretend I’m down in Devon for a few hours, if I don’t look too closely at the colour of the Bristol channel! 📍 Park at Woodspring Priory, Kewstoke and walk to Sandpoint Ps. Burnham reveals itself from the quick retreating tide. Burnham is close to the estuary of the River Parrett where it flows into the Bristol Channel, which has the second highest tidal range in the world. At 11 m (36 ft), it is second only to the Bay of Fundy in Eastern Canada. Burnham's extensive mud flats are characteristic of Bridgwater Bay and the rest of the Bristol Channel, where the tide can recede for over 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometres). Tidal speeds can be between 8-13 mph. So please be sensible if you adventure away from the beach. St Michael's Church, Burrow Mump. Burrow Mump is a hill and historic site overlooking Southlake Moor in the village of Burrowbridge within the English county of Somerset. It is a scheduled monument, with a never completed church on top of the hill a Grade II listed building. A medieval church was built on the hill in the 15th century. The current ruined church on top of the hill was built in 1793. I've just had a lovely weekend away in Weston where I caught Friday nights beautiful sunset at nearby Burnham on Sea. Birnbeck Pier, also known as the 'Old Pier', is a pier situated on the Bristol Channel in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, England, approximately 18 miles (29 km) south-west of Bristol. It is the only pier in the country which links the mainland to an island, linking to Birnbeck Island, a 1.2-hectare (3-acre) rocky island just to the west of Worlebury Hill. The grade II* listed pier was designed by Eugenius Birch and opened in 1867. Birnbeck Pier is one of only six Grade II* piers surviving in the country. The refreshment and waiting rooms of 1898 were designed by local architect Hans Price and the clocktower and the piermaster's house have been attributed to him. The pier has been closed to the public since 1994 and is now on the Buildings at Risk Register. During the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries the pier was popular both with locals and tourists to the town. As a boarding point for steamers plying their trade in the Bristol Channel, it underwent various extensions and modifications over the years. During the Second World War the pier was commissioned as HMS Birnbeck by the Admiralty as part of the Directorate of Miscellaneous Weapons Development (DMWD) for research into new weapons. Notably conducting trials on the Barnes Wallis 'bouncing bomb'. The pier reopened after the war, but the number of visitors and steamer passengers declined. The final excursion visited the pier in 1979. Since its closure, ownership has changed many times and it has been subject to a series of proposals for its redevelopment which have all proved fruitless. The pier remains in a largely derelict state. Part of the pier collapsed during storms on 30 December 2015.

So allows groups to move through without getting to back logged and busy. But you can move at your own pace. Post swim walk. We’ve done this walk before, but it’s a lovely walk so we done it again. Poets walk. We grabbed some ice creams and followed the coastal path. Another idea for summer holidays, easily a cheap/free day out! Depending where you park. But I park at the salt house, which is council parking which is payable but app or machine. Icecreams are always a hit, which can be found right next to the car park. There is plenty to do in Clevedon.
