Happy Book Birthday to Masked Hero…a picture book biography featuring Dr. Wu Lien-teh! Wu Lien-teh grew up in Malaysia and dreamed of one day becoming a doctor. After becoming sick with typhoid, Lien-teh studied medicine at the University of Cambridge…he hoped to learn how to stop infections from spreading. After he finished his schooling, Lien-teh moved his family to China and in 1910, he was asked to travel to Harbin (northeast China) because of a mysterious illness. After observation, Lien-teh discovered how people were getting sick and realized a mask could be the answer to stopping the spread of this horrible disease. Within 4 months, the plague was over. Because of his heroism and achievements, he was nominated for a Nobel Prize (the first person of Chinese descent to earn that honor). This is extraordinary, because a single vaccine can contain 250 micrograms (250,000 nano-grams), and an infant can receive about 3,675 micrograms in the first 6 months. RSGMSOELASTRI - Rumah Sakit Gigi dan Mulut (RSGM) Soelastri yang merupakan rumah sakit pendidikan utama bagi Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi (FKG) Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) menggelar seminar ilmiah dengan Standar Kredit Point (SKP) terintegrasi di Plataran Sehat. Seminar ilmiah Epidemic 1st (Excellent Performance Dentistry in Daily Practice) dengan mengangkat tema "Pain Management in Dental Practice" ini menjadi seminar pertama yang pesertanya bisa menambah SKP. Selain itu, dalam seminar ini dilakukan juga "handson" penanganan sebuah kasus. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada Minggu, (12/5) di The Sunan Hotel Solo. Hal tersebut disampaikan oleh Direktur Utama RSGM Soelastri UMS, drg. Ida Witiasati, M.Kes., FISQua., dalam sambutannya menyampaikan bahwa perolehan SKP dari seminar dan hands on pada hari ini sudah diakui oleh Kementrian Kesehatan Republik Indonesia dan dapat diikuti Plataran Sehat. “Dan RSGM Soelastri itu merupakan satu-satunya RSGM yang baru mengadakan seminar dan hands on yang mana SKP sudah dapat diikuti di Satu Sehat," papar dokter Ida. After becoming sick with typhoid, Lien-teh studied medicine at the University of Cambridge…he hoped to learn how to stop infections from spreading. After he finished his schooling, Lien-teh moved his family to China and in 1910, he was asked to travel to Harbin (northeast China) because of a mysterious illness. After observation, Lien-teh discovered how people were getting sick and realized a mask could be the answer to stopping the spread of this horrible disease. Within 4 months, the plague was over. Because of his heroism and achievements, he was nominated for a Nobel Prize (the first person of Chinese descent to earn that honor). EXCITING news!🚨 In a historic move, the DEA has agreed to reschedule marijuana from a Schedule I to a Schedule III drug under the Controlled Substances Act. A Schedule III drug is classified as having moderate to low potential for physical and psychological dependence. While there are several steps that still need to be taken before marijuana is officially rescheduled, this is a huge step in that direction, and certainly cause for celebration! Once finalized, this move will not legalize marijuana federally, but it does acknowledge the drug's potential medical utility, and creates more economic and research opportunities.
