#moviereview #filmbesprechung #filmreview #moviecollection #horrorfilm #samraimi #filmkritik #filmstagram #movies

A bit belated from the original hype, but here is my Late Night with the Devil review. A good ‘horror’ film although I didn’t find it that scary or jumpy. But good. Not amazing, but good. David Dastmalchian gave a good performance that I enjoyed. There’s no doubt that #TusharHiranandani has chosen a worthy subject. Despite the increase in advocacy and raising awareness, to put a person with a disability in the centre of the frame continues to be an act of bravery, especially now when theatrical releases are dying by the dozens. With #RajkummarRao playing the part of #SrikanthBolla, it’s a given that you will get both skill and utmost sincerity. Touching upon the high points of a difficult life in a 2.5-hour feature leans towards broad-brushstrokes, though, and this takes away complexity, the story-telling ends up being pretty basic. . . . Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is the sequel to the recent trilogy and takes place many generations later with a new protagonist ape named Noa whose clan is taken to a ruthless apes kingdom and he sets out on a mission to save his clan when he encounters a human in need of help.  I am a tremendous fan of all the Apes movies and was super excited to see this film as the ultimate culmination of what happened at the end of War.  Noa makes for a good protagonist with a fair amount of depth and by the end of the film, there is still lots to learn about him and lots for him to learn. I can’t imagine he will be as iconic as Caesar but he makes for a worthy lead in this new generation. Mae is also a very intriguing character that I look forward to seeing be expanded upon for future sequels.  Proximus was a good villain but I thought he would play a more prominent role than what he did. Nonetheless he is very effective and intimidating when he is present. This film feels more like set up for future movies but it does still stand well on its own as a small scale film and serves as a genuinely engaging and entertaining adventure film as Noa seeks to avenge the attack on his clan. This installment also has its effective emotional elements but they do not hit as hard as the previous trilogy and some of the character development feels a little bit rushed at times and slow in others as you just want the characters to piece everything together but they aren’t able to because they didn’t directly know Caesar as we did being the audience. This was a bold perspective as it can be hard to keep an audience engaged when they’re already two steps ahead of the story by knowing what came before that the present characters need/want to know making it feel retroactive which is good and bad. All in all, they did a great job with this film and I am so excited for this new story to continue and see where they take it and how they build upon it! 3.5/5 STARS  #movie #filmfanatic #weekendmovie #movies #film #filmcritic #moviereviewer #filmreview #review #blog #2024movies #movieblog #movienerd #filmblog #cinema #movieland #filmreviews

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol This is where a fine series of films turned into the next big action franchise. Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol is a breathtaking and globetrotting spy adventure with that injects fresh energy into this series. Tom Cruise plays Ethan Hunt again and I kind of feel like this is the time he found the character. It is the right balance between intensity, lighthearted and heart. Simon Pegg gets a bigger role in this entry and he fits in great. He and Cruise have a great chemistry and Pegg is responsible for most of the humorous moments in the film. Jeremy Renner brings depth and humanity to his character. Every character serves their purpose in the movie without taking the spotlight away from the others. Despite all the spectacle the movie never loses touch with character driven storytelling. Where this movie excels is in the action set pieces. The Burj Khalifa sequences has become iconic and it is expertly shot and shows the commitment of the franchise and Tom Cruise to push the boundaries of what action movies can be. But aside from the action Brad Bird is able to create very intense and suspenseful scenes that keeps the audience at the edge of their seat. The story does go bigger but also back to the espionage roots of the franchise. It does get a little too convoluted towards the end of the film, though. Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol made the franchise what it is today, which is a great blend of action, characters, plot and humor. 8/10 #moviereview #filmreview #missionimpossibleghostprotocol #missionimpossible #tomcruise

Review Dream Scenario 2023 Blu-ray Rating: 5/5 Dream Scenario is a work of art with its humble beginning and nightmare inducing second half that’s backed by a near career best performance by Nicolas Cage. The film is certainly a highlight of 2023 and I would suggest it’s easily one of the best with its intricate storytelling. Filmmaker Kristoffer Borgli has created a provocative and cerebral film that has so many ideas it almost implodes. Cage is simply impressive and how he can create anything with a character this uninteresting is truly remarkable. The comedy and light hearted narrative works to lure audiences in before it flips the switch to something much more sinister. Borgli is able to float between dark satire to more nightmarish imagery because Cage has already lured the audience onto the premise. You’d expect Charlie Kaufman to be involved at some level as the surrealism of the concept and structure feels heavily influenced by his storytelling, and it’s a giant compliment to Borgli for creating something unpredictable. This is absurdist fiction at its finest and Cage’s character is in this existential crisis when this dream appearance consumes his identity. Borgli is certainly a writer-director to watch and I’ll be interested to see what project he delivers next. Cage continues to redefine himself every decade and there’s no other actor who continues to take these artistic chances. This had a lot of critical hype surrounding it and it delivered. #dreamscenario #2023 #moviescene #moviecollector #filmcollection #filmcollector #bluray #bluraycollection #bluraycollector #blurayaddict #blurayjunkie #bluraymovie #dupreewenttothemovies #DVD #filmcommunity #moviescenes #filmreview #filmlover #movielover #physicalmedia #filmreview #movierecommendation #moviescene #review #cinema #movienight #movietime #nicolascage #timmesdows #michaelcera #dylangela #kristofferborgli

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024) Review By: Buffalo_Film_Buff What’s Happening? Many generations after the events of “War for the Planet of the Apes,” this film centers around an ape named Noa. Throughout all the time passes, the apes seem to have split in different clans, and Noa’s clan focuses on bonding with eagles. The night before Noa’s bonding day, a coming of age ceremony in which he is to bond with an eagle egg, the eagle clan is brutally attacked. The attack is brought on by another powerful clan which is led by the ape Proximus Caesar. Proximus Caesar is obsessed with knowledge and power, particularly human knowledge. Noa is left for dead but vows to bring his friends and family back home. Godzilla Minus One (2023) 87% Admittedly, this is my first non American exposure to Godzilla and apart from abit of the Elizabeth Olsen one and the theatrical experience of King of Monsters, this IP has been a shallow experience for me. But at times, fun. As an overall #film #godzillaminusone is far and away the best I've seen from the giant lizard. But for those with only the exposure of the American #films and the expectations of those going into this, you're gonna be massively let down. #godzilla is more of a manifestation of deeper meanings in this #movie . Which made it a much fresher experience for me and was very refreshing. There's actual emotional weight to this movie. You actually care for the characters. In the American versions Godzilla films have become just superhero movies in disguise. Where with Minus One, this feels like beautiful in depth story that so happens to have Godzilla in it. #moviereviews #filmreview

🎞Jean-Pierre Melville's 1967 Le samourai remains one of cinema's best neo-noir crime thrillers to date. See it as part of the Cinema Reborn 2024 season, in a newly restored 4K version. ✨ Short excerpt of my review below:👇 An empty interior in semi-darkness, two large rectangular windows with its curtains drawn wide cast an eerie pre-dawn light into the room, its ghostliness reflected on the ceiling; in between the two windows in the drab light, is a birdcage, we can hear the bell-like chirp of a bird. Oh, but the room is actually not empty at all; we detect a brief movement from the lone figure who is lying on the bed on the right hand side of the screen. They proceed to light a cigarette and a cloud of smoke rises from where they lay. The small bird keeps up its lonely singular cry; the traffic outside continues to pass. We are arrived: at a world where life and death is thinly disguised as a choice on the edge of a blade; and death, as well as life, can only be experienced in solitude. This poetic neo-noir lures us into its milieu without the need of dialogue; like the end sequence of Wong Kar-wai’s Days of Being Wild (1990), we find ourselves deeply invested in the life of this lone figure within the first few minutes of the film’s opening. His silence continues as we watch him get up, put on a raincoat and fedora with a practised motion that is cat-like, balletic. He then goes out into the street and steals a car, drives it to a grimey garage in an isolated part of town; number plates changed, a gun and money exchanged hands – all without its characters uttering a word. Now read on: https://t.ly/AbxI6 #jeanpierremelville #alaindelon #lesamourai #thesamurai #filmreview #filmreviews #cinemafrancais #cinephile #cinema #cinephilecommunity #cinephilia #cinephiles #frenchfilms #movie #movies #frenchmovie #frenchmovies #noir #neonoir #neonoirfilm

Mad Max I’m gonna be honest, I was a little disappointed by this. I wasn’t expecting anything amazing, but even then, this felt a little stale. I loved the idea behind it, and I’m usually a fan of dystopian settings. It gives it such a great feel of independence and fear. This one in particular does a good job of that. There’s some people you can trust, but a lot of people that create such an uneasy feeling. All the characters were decent, no matter how odd they were portrayed. They help accentuate the time and setting. The acting was decent, but nothing outstanding. My biggest complaint, I guess, is the plot progression. Like I said, the idea behind the movie is really good, but I don’t think it was written in the best way. It felt both crammed and also spaced out at the same time. This sounds weird, but it makes sense to me. The movie is a little over 90 minutes long, so it’s not drawn out at all. It fits everything it needs to, but still feels both slow and quick at the same time. I just don’t think I was a fan of the pacing. A lot of the time, it took a while to get to the main driving point. Also, I felt like the story was written in order to set up a sequel or something. It took forever to get to the climax, and when it did, it was over in 15 minutes. Finally, a huge highlight of the movie was the physical stunts and car/action sequences. I love the high speed chases, explosions, and crashes. They provide an awesome thrill, on top of the crazy, maniacal bad guys. Overall, this movie wasn’t bad, but wasn’t anything insane. I may revisit this in the future, and I’d probably recommend it to action fans.

Thanks to @gfresh630 for bringing this film to our attention! Check it out on Prime video or Tubi! Bry: "Dress Code" (2023) is a film that creatively engages with traditional mafia tropes, infusing them with a sense of fun and novelty. While the movie occasionally leans into exaggeration, presumably for dramatic effect, it manages to introduce fresh takes that breathe new life into a well-worn genre. The narrative does well to blend humor and tension, ensuring that the pacing remains engaging throughout. What makes this film particularly notable is its unique commentary on its central character—a doomed protagonist whose fate compellingly drives the plot forward. This character study adds depth to the storyline and provides a poignant exploration of themes like destiny and morality within the criminal underworld. Though "Dress Code" may not secure a spot as a timeless classic due to its playful approach and niche appeal, it is memorable for its innovative narrative and the clever subversion of typical gangster film elements. It's a commendable attempt that offers viewers a distinctive cinematic experience, making it worthy of attention for those interested in a different take on mafia stories. 3/5 Final Score: 6/10 #filmreview #moviereview #dresscode

Carl Reiner - The Jerk (1979) The first starring vehicle for the great Steve Martin, this is a strange and sometimes wonderful film. Martin plays the titular “Jerk”, not in the more recent sense of being someone who is mean to others but as someone who lives somewhat disconnected from reality and goes through the world as an innocent child of a sort. There has been some discussion about the film’s insensitive portrayal of race, the film’s first gag is Martin stating that he was born “a poor black child in Mississippi”, and we see him as the only white person in a share cropper’s home in the South, and we soon understand that he was adopted (although he didn’t know that). The film is so silly and nonsensical, however, that it’s hard to see in it any attempt to offend, if anything the Black family is portrayed as a family of good people who took the Jerk in out of the goodness of their hearts and want nothing but the best for him. The over the top silliness used for that scene is a constant throughout the film, and it makes it both amusing and at times a bit tiring as it doesn’t leave you much space to breathe between the nonsensical events of the Jerk’s life. You’ll laugh, but you’ll also be exhausted by the end of this. (3.5/5) #thejerk #carlreiner #stevemartin #film #cinema #review #filmreview #moviereview #poster

Rating: 3.5/10 As usual a predictable modern horror movie that follows the same old formats but has its moments. Horror movies need to stop doing things with the main character like making them have a passed family member which leads to their strength at the end of the story or a connection with the evil, it’s just so overdone. The tarot stuff was interesting but eventually it got a bit repetitive and people kept knowingly doing things they were told not to do like the hangman card especially. Jacob Batalon was easily the best part of the film with his comedic character and glad he had a big portion within the film. Overall it was an okay movie held up by Peter Parkers best friend Ned Leeds - - #cinema #cinemalover #cinemalovers #review #reviews #filmreview #foryoupage #moviereview #moviereviews #movie #movies #movieaddict #moviebuff #moviegeek #reviewfilm #reviewfilms #film #filmcommunity #filmfeed #films #trending #cinephile #cinephilecommunity #fyp #tarot #jacobbatalon #horror #horrormovies #horrormovie #horrorfilm

Rating: 5/10 Weird movie but had some quality A24 elements to it. Some unique physique shots of muscles pulsing and sound effects for it were pretty unique. The first half of the film was the setup but they could’ve done a lot more as it was a bit empty at times. The two mains were decent especially for Katy O’Brian who is sort of a newcomer so she did pretty well for her first big feature. Was expecting better or more from Ed Harris but he was decent in it too. There was some really exciting and shocking thrilling scenes which led to some really cool violence too. It was a decent thriller with a mixed bag but they ruined it with the ending by making it visually strange when the rest of the film was pretty normal compared. Overall it could’ve been better with a more suitable ending but for what it’s worth some thriller elements did shock and excite - - #cinema #cinemalover #cinemalovers #review #reviews #filmreview #foryoupage #moviereview #moviereviews #movie #movies #movieaddict #moviebuff #moviegeek #reviewfilm #reviewfilms #film #filmcommunity #filmfeed #films #trending #cinephile #cinephilecommunity #fyp #kristenstewart #edharris #loveliesbleeding #a24 #davefranco #katyobrian

Rating: 8/10 Watched at the cinema! What a fun little quirky fantasy film! The world was so fantastical and vibrant with characters and the sets. David Bowie was a great personality on screen with his performance and the music he made for the film was great, some of them quite catchy! The side characters were pretty good too and added to the fun of the adventure. Jennifer Connelly did well for a young performer even though they had to cater the story and the love plot around the actress and her age. There is some noticeable CGI and green screen moments within the film too but doesn’t necessarily make it bad. It’s quite fast paced making it a really fun adventure film getting to explore the fantastical labyrinth. The puppetry was amazing too and I knew this coming from Dark Crystal, Jim Henson is great at his craft. Overall a really fun fantasy film that’s very enjoyable - - #cinema #cinemalover #cinemalovers #review #reviews #filmreview #foryoupage #moviereview #moviereviews #movie #movies #movieaddict #moviebuff #moviegeek #reviewfilm #reviewfilms #film #filmcommunity #filmfeed #films #trending #cinephile #cinephilecommunity #fyp #davidbowie #jenniferconnelly #jimhenson #labyrinth #fantasy #magic

Movie Name: Alphabet Murders “Cartoonish, unsubtly hilarious, and uninteresting murder mystery. The Alphabet Murders has nothing to do with Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot.” SharpRatings: 3 - #Bad Someone is killing people, and leaving ABC railway book near the dead bodies, #HerculePoirot ( #TonyRandall) investigates a dim, uninteresting mystery plot that should ravel because of premise but instead comes very short. Based on #AgathaChristie #ABCMurders I read the film has very little to do with the novel. The film is a successor to #MissMarple films, and they are famous for their humor I believe filmmakers said why not add humor to the film and Poirot, well it might have worked but using Alphabet Murders as a basis was a poor choice by the filmmakers. The humor is tongue in cheek, it's far from subtle, Tony Randall is given the role of this precise element. I personally didn't like the accent, and I didn't find him visually right for the part. My problem with The Alphabet Murders has nothing to do with my lifelong love of Agatha Christie's work or her creation, Hercule Poirot. The way The Alphabet Murders was written also fell flat. Instead of being absorbing, the story felt too tediously placed and meandering. The murder mystery lacks suspense and the right atmosphere, it is hindered by the slapstick, there was too much of it, some of it seemed too dragged out, it was unnecessary and nothing came across as funny. Overall, The Alphabet Murders is not as bad as the above disappointments, but unfortunately, I do have to class it with the adaptations that didn't work.

You know those eye-roll-inducing movies that, despite their flaws, manage to hold a strange fascination over their audiences, drawing crowds time and again? That’s the “Aranmanai” franchise in a nutshell. The Tamil horror-comedy film was a smash hit when it debuted in 2014, charming family audiences with its all-in-one package that included scares, action, an impressive cast, lavish songs, and grand visual effects. I was going to only write a film review, but the whole film, especially the last part, reminded me of my late best friend, @jhanjhanshi who loved Godzilla as much as I do. Ojan passed away this February, and not a single day that I don't think about him. But, today is special as I finally watched a film that both of us were excited about. Godzilla: Minus One. First and foremost, Ojan would have loved it. But it's safe to say that Minus One stands with the great Godzilla movies such as the original 1954 film, Shin Godzilla, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Minus One is not action-packed like Monsterverse films. In fact, I believe Godzilla only showed up in less than 20 minutes of the whole film. Yet his presence could be felt throughout the film. And its existence is heavily connected to the main character and the story. Not just that, the underlying themes of this film are because of Godzilla's existence. Minus One is an anti-war film with hopeful undertones that are pro-humanity, compared to Shin that is basically a horror film with messages about anti-politics that were filled with sorrow and depressing imagery. The VFX is perfect, accompanied by stunning cinematography, and a great score/soundtrack that really bring out of the vibe of this film. More people should watch this film. It's not just a film about a monster destroying cities. It's about hope, life, and humanity. And I know those are the things that my dear friend, Ojan, believed in. #godzilla #godzillaminusone #filmreview #review

Check out my review of The Shell Brothers’ Salome by clicking the link in my bio. King Herod (Zach Thomas), in a drunken stupor, entices his beautiful step daughter Salome (Jessie Epstein) to dance–promising her anything she desires in return. Her wish is not what Herod expected–and a night of potential fun and exhilaration quickly turns dark.
