History of evil 🌟 8/10 Director: Bo Mirhosseni Writer: Bo Mirhosseni Production company: Two & Two Pictures, XYZ Films Run time: 1hr 38mins Release date: 23rd February 2024 War and corruption plague America and turn it into a police state. A resistance member, Alegre Dyer, breaks out of political prison and reunites with her husband and daughter. The family on the run takes refuge in a safe house with an evil past. A post-apocalyptic society, which just fell short of being a incredible watch instead of a awesome one. It was lacking a bit in intensity. But the plot moves reasonably fast and has great atmosphere, this movie has a lot of potential and is definitely worth the watch. Paul Wesley pulls off a great preformance,  with a pretty solid start to the movie. With heavy overtones about the films message that might not be clear to everyone. #historyofevil🎬 #historyofevil #horrorreviewers #horrorreviewer #horrorreview #horrorreviewpage #paulwesley #solidmovie #moviereviews #moviereview #moviereviewer #horrorfilm #horrorgeek #horrorfanatic #horrorcritic #horrormovies #horrorlover

There's your story, THAT'S your story. /J #filmanmeldelse #filmkritik #anmeldelser #kritik #komediefilm #gyserfilm #bubbahotep #segodefilm #filmaften #filmstagram #moviereviews #filmogtv

Godzilla Minus One (2023) 87% Admittedly, this is my first non American exposure to Godzilla and apart from abit of the Elizabeth Olsen one and the theatrical experience of King of Monsters, this IP has been a shallow experience for me. But at times, fun. As an overall #film #godzillaminusone is far and away the best I've seen from the giant lizard. But for those with only the exposure of the American #films and the expectations of those going into this, you're gonna be massively let down. #godzilla is more of a manifestation of deeper meanings in this #movie . Which made it a much fresher experience for me and was very refreshing. There's actual emotional weight to this movie. You actually care for the characters. In the American versions Godzilla films have become just superhero movies in disguise. Where with Minus One, this feels like beautiful in depth story that so happens to have Godzilla in it. #moviereviews #filmreview

#Poolman Movie Review (1/5): Not every actor is destined for the director’s chair. I wasn’t sure it’d be possible for another A-lister to make #CharlieDay ‘s directorial debut #FoolsParadise look like a decent flick, especially this soon. In this case, #ChrisPine ‘s first take behind the camera is a chore to sit through. His vision of an immature poolman-turned-sleuth is one of the biggest misfires from a major star I’ve ever seen. This comedic neo-noir sets a pool cleaning man-child on a mission to uncover a heist, in the vein of #Chinatown mixed with the humor of #TheBigLebowski. At 100 minutes long, I continuously counted down the minutes of what felt like an eternity of unfunny jokes, piss poor writing and obnoxious characters to sit through. Pine also plays the lead in a story that goes in circles. An unfolding mystery ultimately ends up feeling like a hodgepodge of corny ideas rolled into one big exhausting mess. Aside from the wildly unamusing performances from everyone involved; even the lovable #DannyDevito and #AnnetteBening disappoint given the script, Pine does nothing artistically to alleviate some of the burn. Another element that could’ve softened this blow is if any of these characters were likeable in the slightest. Diane and Jack grow tiresome. #DaWandaWise ‘s June is very one-dimensional and cliched. Pine’s Darren Barrenman should be the films ultimate draw, but proves to be its greatest weakness. This is a very obvious vanity project in all of its despicable glory that sadly garnered some very talented names gone to waste. Genuine directorial execution is unimaginative. There wasn’t very much thought put into amplifying the overall entertainment factor in stretching thin a familiar detective noir premise. Overall, there honestly aren’t any positive aspects to speak on Chris Pine’s blasphemous “Poolman”. Save yourself the time. Better yet. Don’t even bother when it hits the streamers. #Film #Movie #MovieReview #MovieReviews #Mystery #NeoNoir #Noir #Detective #StephenTobolowsky #ClancyBrown #JohnOrtiz #RayWise #ArianaDeBose #MovieNews #InstaFollow #WMKMovieReviews

#NotAnotherChurchMovie Movie Review (1/5): I know I’m not the only one who’s been dying for a modern resurgence of the spoof movie. “Not Another Church Movie” is possibly the worst case to make for a new wave. This parody of #Tyler Perry ‘s extensive filmography is essentially one giant messy collection of repetitive unfunny skits that seek to lampoon what pretty much lampooned its own self back in the day. Drawing inspiration from the #Madea films, #DiaryOfAMadBlackWoman and #DaddysLittleGirls, just to name a few, #JohnnyMack ‘s screenplay can’t help but regurgitate identical dialogue from them. Let’s be honest. Perry’s work has almost always been critically panned and divisive in garnering an audience yearning for a very specific style of physical/over-the-top humor. The entire purpose of a spoof is to satirically poke fun at something through exaggeration. All “Not Another Church Movie” does is revisit the loud-mouthed granny in drag with absolutely nothing new to say or do. If you’re one of those who never found the character of Madea funny in the slightest, you sure as hell will find #KevinDaniels ‘ Madude/Taylor Pherry to be nearly insufferable. Even #JamieFoxx, playing the role of #God, or #MickeyRourke, as the #Devil, can’t squeeze a single laugh out of this shit-show. With many segments clearly taking place on a green-screen, Mack’s “Church Movie” visually looks like a failed school project. It’s what you’d call a twisted backwords “miracle” from the depths of hell how #Briarcliff even sought out a theatrical release for what could’ve fairly settled as a forgettable #Tubi original for the morbidly curious. Not to mention, the creators are almost an entire decade removed from reaching the audience that grew up on Madea/Tyler Perry flicks. And, have also moved on already. #Film #Movie #MovieReview #MovieReviews #MadeaGoesToJail #MeetTheBrowns #VivicaAFox #LamorneMorris #TishaCampbell #KylaPratt #MovieNews #InstaFollow #WMKMovieReviews

. . . . #scanners #scanners1981 #davidcronenberg #horrormovies #horrormovie #movie #movies #movieposter #movieposters #moviereview #moviereviews #movierecommendation #moviereviewer #movierecommendations #horrormoviereviews #horrormoviereview #horrormovieposter #horrormovieposters #80shorror #80smovies #80smovie #horrorfan #horrorfilm #horroraddict #horrorjunkie #horrorcollector #horrorlover #horrorfilms #horrornerd #horrorgeek

5/10/2024, 4:47:49 AM

Rating: 3.5/10 As usual a predictable modern horror movie that follows the same old formats but has its moments. Horror movies need to stop doing things with the main character like making them have a passed family member which leads to their strength at the end of the story or a connection with the evil, it’s just so overdone. The tarot stuff was interesting but eventually it got a bit repetitive and people kept knowingly doing things they were told not to do like the hangman card especially. Jacob Batalon was easily the best part of the film with his comedic character and glad he had a big portion within the film. Overall it was an okay movie held up by Peter Parkers best friend Ned Leeds - - #cinema #cinemalover #cinemalovers #review #reviews #filmreview #foryoupage #moviereview #moviereviews #movie #movies #movieaddict #moviebuff #moviegeek #reviewfilm #reviewfilms #film #filmcommunity #filmfeed #films #trending #cinephile #cinephilecommunity #fyp #tarot #jacobbatalon #horror #horrormovies #horrormovie #horrorfilm

Rating: 5/10 Weird movie but had some quality A24 elements to it. Some unique physique shots of muscles pulsing and sound effects for it were pretty unique. The first half of the film was the setup but they could’ve done a lot more as it was a bit empty at times. The two mains were decent especially for Katy O’Brian who is sort of a newcomer so she did pretty well for her first big feature. Was expecting better or more from Ed Harris but he was decent in it too. There was some really exciting and shocking thrilling scenes which led to some really cool violence too. It was a decent thriller with a mixed bag but they ruined it with the ending by making it visually strange when the rest of the film was pretty normal compared. Overall it could’ve been better with a more suitable ending but for what it’s worth some thriller elements did shock and excite - - #cinema #cinemalover #cinemalovers #review #reviews #filmreview #foryoupage #moviereview #moviereviews #movie #movies #movieaddict #moviebuff #moviegeek #reviewfilm #reviewfilms #film #filmcommunity #filmfeed #films #trending #cinephile #cinephilecommunity #fyp #kristenstewart #edharris #loveliesbleeding #a24 #davefranco #katyobrian

Rating: 8/10 Watched at the cinema! What a fun little quirky fantasy film! The world was so fantastical and vibrant with characters and the sets. David Bowie was a great personality on screen with his performance and the music he made for the film was great, some of them quite catchy! The side characters were pretty good too and added to the fun of the adventure. Jennifer Connelly did well for a young performer even though they had to cater the story and the love plot around the actress and her age. There is some noticeable CGI and green screen moments within the film too but doesn’t necessarily make it bad. It’s quite fast paced making it a really fun adventure film getting to explore the fantastical labyrinth. The puppetry was amazing too and I knew this coming from Dark Crystal, Jim Henson is great at his craft. Overall a really fun fantasy film that’s very enjoyable - - #cinema #cinemalover #cinemalovers #review #reviews #filmreview #foryoupage #moviereview #moviereviews #movie #movies #movieaddict #moviebuff #moviegeek #reviewfilm #reviewfilms #film #filmcommunity #filmfeed #films #trending #cinephile #cinephilecommunity #fyp #davidbowie #jenniferconnelly #jimhenson #labyrinth #fantasy #magic

The stars are hot in “Challengers” (and the movie darn well knows it), but despite Zendaya’s best efforts, the film suffers from a repetitive story, often overbearing music score, and underdeveloped characters. There are good pieces here, but it’s a swing and a miss. 2/5.

5/10/2024, 1:26:51 AM

I genuinely was not excited for another journey into the Planet of the Apes universe, and even less so when confronted with a 2h30m runtime. But Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes manages to hook viewers instantly with a new set of characters and new stakes. Director Wes Ball (The Maze Runner trilogy and helmer of the upcoming Legend of Zelda live-action feature) proves his directing mettle with a solid start to a potential new trilogy. Gone but not forgotten is Andy Serkis' Caeser. In his place is a young ape (voiced and motion captured by It's Owen Teague) of the Eagle Clan, a group of apes that trains eagles and lives a meager lifestyle in the wilderness. A power-hungry ruler (voiced and mo-capped by Abigail's Kevin Durand) is rounding up all remaining ape clans for a grand scheme of unearthing humanity's deadliest secrets. The only human elements in this beautifully CGIed film are The Witcher's Freya Allen as humanity's last hope, and a small role for William H. Macy. Teague is a worthy leading man (witness this previously in Montana Story, streaming on Hulu) and carries the emotional burden well. The real MVP of this cast is Peter Macon as a Rakka, the last bastion of Caeser's vision of harmony between apes and humans. Macon, a lesser-known actor whose biggest credit is an eight-episode stint on Shameless, gives the character so much heart and elevates the source. While it isn't as technically pristine as director Matt Reeves' last two entries in the franchise, it is still technically sound and a gorgeous blockbuster to witness on the big screen. Some minor pacing issues aside, this is a solid cinematic experience sure to please fans of the series. 8 out of 10. . . . #PlanetOfTheApes #KingdomOfThePlanetOfTheApes #TheWitcher #WesBall #LegendOfZelda #MazeRunner #Movies #MovieReviews #Film #FilmReviews

Understandably and deservedly, almost all WWII films depict a story from The Holocaust. There are, however, other stories too. From Hilde, With Love, showing throughout Australia as part of the HSBC German Film Festival, presents one of those other stories. And that is how you continue a franchise respectively. Thr story follows Noa. A lone ape who hunts for the ones who took his clan. All while learning about the nature of humans and the history between them and ape. To say I was nervous about this is a understatement. After how perfect the last film ended things. I was ready to suffer Disney further butchering another beloved franchise. But in my absolute shock horror. This wasn't good... this was great. This thankfully sits along side the previous trilogy as another fantastic entry. As well as another great entry in the planet of the Apes series. First off the VFX is still breathtaking. The close ups of the Apes just looks life like and there's so many scenes where I'm watching these characters move around the place and grab objects and it connects so perfectly with the environment, I'm simply looking at real Apes. Not to mention some incredible facial expressions with a favourite of mine Raka. A orangutan with some incredible facial animation that showed so much from both the VFX and the performance. Which there's a lot of fantastic character work here. Noa is out new protagonist and he's a ape who's learning about the world and the history that's been left from it. Learning about the original Ceaser and his teachings. Learning about humans and their stake in the world currently and previously. And learning to be a strong leader for his clan. Noa isn't a Ceaser. He isn't much of a fighter...hell he outright loses all his fights. He's one hell of a underdog who is potentially way over his head in this entire situation. But his drive to save his clan pushes him forward. Making him rootable. But he's interesting in his learning and understanding. He learns so much about Apes. Humans. The world. By the end of the film he provides some incredible interesting thoughts to May that doesn't provide a clear cut answer to the humans vs Apes situation. There's a lot to still unravel despite the sheer amount we are given here and I honestly can't wait to see where we go with Noa. As for May she was also interesting too. There's a air of mystery around her for most of the film. Her intentions, her knowledge and how (cont)

Are you familiar with the concept of evolution?   In the vast cinema landscape, the recent Planet of the Apes trilogy is a unique testament to this concept. In an era when reboots were met with warranted skepticism, this franchise evolved and surpassed expectations, redefining the thematic approach of its long-standing narrative and injecting unexpected depth into its storytelling.  However, a fourth Apes film was greenlit amid Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Given how franchise-hungry the industry is, there’s rarely an instance where a studio will leave well enough alone. So I wasn’t that surprised by this news. Given how well its predecessor ended, I found the prospect of a new Planet of the Apes movie unnecessary. However, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is a solid, worthy, and promising successor. Color me surprised.  Set many generations after Ceasar, apes are now the dominant species while humans stick to the shadows. In this film, Owen Teague’s Noa embarks on a journey that sees him question what he has learned from the past and make significant decisions that will affect the future of humans and apes alike.  I particularly enjoyed this film’s crafting of a larger sense of adventure, in line with its franchise’s original roots. It also puts a new spin on the human and ape conflicts that made the recent trilogy so enjoyable. Though I’m unfamiliar with most of Wes Ball’s work, say for the Maze Runner films, it’s clear that he loves building worlds from the ground up while crafting mysteries along the way. This aspect of the film will surely make new and longtime fans feel intrigued and excited about the film’s setting.   (Review continued Below…👇🏽)

We missed this at the Cinema, my wife has seen it since and on her recommendation I watched it while she was out. Smile stars Sosie Bacon supported by Kyle Gallner and Jessie T. Usher with Caitlin Stasey reprising her role from the short film from which this is expanded. Sosie Bacon plays Rose a psychiatrist who is the only witness to her patient (Stasey) suffer from hallucinations and commit suicide. Many of the hallucinations are of people with a wide and unnerving Smile. Rose starts to see this too and turns to fiance Trevor (Usher) and then to ex Joel (Gallner) for help. The film is very creepy and well paced with some good jump scares. And the entity causing the hallucinations acts as a metaphor for coping with trauma.  I felt Bacon was brilliant in her role, starting off in control but clearly struggling with her mental health. Then gradually falling apart as her struggles become too much. Her performance was emotional and a highlight of the film. She is in nearly every scene and carries herself well. All films like this have an exposition character, someone whose sole purpose is to explain the ‘rules’ of the situation. I thought this was thorough, while still being subtle enough to work within the confines of the film. I personally didn't like some of the side characters. When introduced, Rose's sister is a little obnoxious and rude. While I get that this carries more significance to the story as the film progresses, I felt the character could be more layered. It is similar with Trevor, he seemed too unsupportive as Rose grew less stable, it was challenging to believe he was her fiance. I have watched a fair bit of horror recently, and while this film is more nuanced than most I found some of the characters too unlikeable to fully enjoy it. Rating: 3/5⭐ #smile #horror #sosiebacon

“The screenwriters and director Wes Ball don’t seem as interested in the sociopolitical commentary of the previous Apes trilogy; rather, they’ve designed an immersive adventure epic that even includes a war-movie sequence straight out of the likes of ‘Where Eagles Dare’ (1968) … and with actual eagles. But most of its characters are simply archetypes; there isn’t much in the way of character development other than Noa’s heroic journey. And a couple of late plot twists are confusing in a way that would contain spoilers to explain but trust me, it’s not because I don’t know how to follow a movie plot.” For the complete review, go to Maitland on Movies.
