Don’t judge M.E. 💙💙💙 💙 it’s world #MyalgicEncephalmyelitis day, world #fibromyalgia day, Mother’s Day and also my mums birthday so there’s a lot happening! (I mean there’s only 365 days in a year so there’s often overlap with things 😂) 💙 I never thought I’d become ok with this diagnosis. I never thought I’d find peace in the pain. And sometimes I still don’t have it 😅 but after 6 years I can ride the waves, the rhythms. This life, although not easy, is still worth living. There is joy in the chaos. 💙 But I’d trade it for a cure. A treatment. Funding and law changes and more understanding. My heart breaks for the newly diagnosed, the post covid masses whose bodies are shutting down at a cellular level with this disease. The ones qualifying for and choosing euthanasia in some countries because they see no other option. Those who have lost hope in a better future to come. 💙 Some people are trialing a new name for it. Chronic Fatigue syndrome became Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and now it’s sometimes called ‘Systemic Exertion Intolerance Disease’ ( #SEID ). I don’t think the name is the problem. The lack of breakthroughs in potential cures. I think the lack of resources is the problem. I think people forgetting than anyone at anytime could get this disease. That it doesn’t discriminate based on age or gender or how healthy you are. That I know of doctors who can’t walk. Lawyers who can’t get out of bed. Athletes who are housebound. And while I am lucky to have improved to where I’m at today, millions of others around the world are fighting to live in situations you couldn’t imagine. 💙 Don’t forget them. Don’t forget us. Though you can’t see us, though our lives are different than we planned…. We are still here. Waiting. Seeking. Praying for a cure. Remember the #MillionsMissing

It’s warm! Those of you who have been here a while (thank you if you have) may recall my utter physical inability to cope with temperatures above 18 degrees. This has only worsened in the perimenopause years and, though I was extremely adept at harnessing the power of coping mechanisms, I have had to become yet more wily in my battle against the demon sun since having skin cancer a couple of years ago. So, after my shower I’m applying Factor 50, spray on for lightness, I have @snagtights Capri length tights on, cooler, but still a lovely pop of colour. I have a floaty @vinted dress (and matching Vinted bra) turquoise ring and bangle. Sunnies to protect the eyes but check out my stories to see my sparkly eyeliner. I’m also wearing earrings by the very clever @missylolajewellery which were gifted, thank you. Neck fan, bottle of water kept in the freezer overnight and sun hat completed my tool kit. Dad bought my turquoise stones bracelet for Mum whilst on holiday some years ago. She gave it to me after he died. I had a cry last night because I missed the Aurora Borealis and that was something Dad loved. We had seen it when on a family holiday together in the very north of Scotland, back when I was probably in my early teens but I missed Dad last night and somehow missing the Northern Lights too was too much. I did see a very bright shooting star though, so that helped. I wandered about in the back garden in my nightie for ages but no joy, think I was just too late. I’m going to try again tonight. But now your memory is of your “hideous weight, gigantic thighs and awful hips” We’ve all done it, and I do resonate. For years I would zoom in on photos, I’ve lost count the amount of times I’ve deleted photos (ie memories) because I didn’t look ‘picture perfect’ We look at other women’s thighs eyes and highlights and compare against our own. Seeing our bodies as an ornamental piece of life rather than the contributor they are. Picking fault with every aspect of your body, heightened by a preoccupation of your weight & shape, forced by a narrative that tells you to be smaller. But at the expense of what? How much of your life do you miss out on because of the constant thoughts with your body. I nearly deleted this photo, I saw my excess skin on my mid-section, my legs, but none of that matters. The memories I will cherish forever, & my body allowed me to experience them. 05.09 -getting farther away I’m a little stressed for the next few days. I’m going out of town for a funeral and will be eating out for most of my meals. I’ve had a few days to plan for it, but have not been very logical in my thinking. NOW that’s it’s almost time to leave it’s a thought I’m having. I’ll eat before I leave - not stop for snacks on the drive - dinner will be at a restaurant - breakfast will be at the hotel so I should be ok there - lunch/supper will be after the funeral - then I’m not sure what we’re doing from here.
