Just leaving this here… 🙄 I mean if fitness pros actually took a bit of time to look around and get in touch with the real world they would be able to figure out for themselves that health is not just a simple equation 🤦🏻‍♀️ 🤦🏻‍♀️ Less of the “eat like me, train like me = look like me” narrative and more of the “look around and see for yourself” narrative. The release of endorphins during exercise varies greatly among individuals due to factors such as genetics, fitness levels, workout intensity, and individual physiology. While some may feel the ‘endorphin high,’ others may not feel it as strongly. This is pretty obvious when you think about it - you’ll get some people that LOVE the gym and fitness and some that do not. (And there are a multitude of reasons for this) It’s crucial to recognise that preferences for movement are personal and multifaceted. It’s common for fitness professionals to struggle to understand those who aren’t as passionate and may even label them as lazy, perpetuating harmful stereotypes. This is yet another BS fitness industry toxic trait and it’s essential to remember that there’s no moral superiority tied to movement. Whether you experience endorphins like a personal trainer or not, your worth remains unchanged. Embrace movement that brings you joy, whether it’s through a supportive community, short bursts of activity, or finding what works uniquely for you. Remember, all movement matters, and so does rest! . . . . . #losehatenotweight #riotsnotdiets #takeupspace #inclusivefitness #dietculturedropout #nondietapproach #socialjustice #effyourbodystandards #haes #haesfitness #bodypositivefitness #bodyimageissues #bodyimagewarrior #bodyimagehealing #fitnessforallbodies

It’s called intuitive eating because it’s, well, intuitive. You don’t have to count your calories or macros in order to eat intuitively. You just have to listen to your body. Diet companies tell you this because they want to find another way to rebrand the same tired, unhelpful advice. At the end of the day, intuitive eating isn’t a diet tool- it’s the exact opposite! So I asked this question over on @body_image_fitness and, with permission, had to share it. LOVING THIS ENERGY. To fitness professionals advocating movement for mental health while simultaneously tethering beauty standards to this message: You’re not only undermining the essence of fitness for many but also harming their body image. The ability to move is a privilege, and if we’re fortunate enough to engage in activities that bring us joy, shouldn’t we embrace them wholeheartedly? . . . . #losehatenotweight #effyourbodystandards #dietculturedropout #antidiet #takeupspace #worthbeyondweight #socialjustice #riotsnotdiets #haes #bodyimagewarrior #bodyacceptance #bodypositivefitness

I had such a good birthday today. I got to spend time with family/friends, went painting, a family dinner, I received some sweet cards and gifts. My sister and I have a date to go to a Edgar Allen Poe reading next week, my folks were kind enough to pitch in some money on my wallpaper for my office, and a friend sent me my favorite spice girl themed record! I’ve always been team Ginger. Her leaving The Spice Girls was my first heart break 😂

🌟 International No Diet Day 🌟 Today, May 6, is International No Diet Day! 🎉 It’s a day dedicated to body positivity and promoting a healthy lifestyle, regardless of shape or size. 🌸 Here are some key points about this important day: 1. Body Acceptance: International No Diet Day encourages us to embrace our natural bodies and appreciate their diversity. Let’s celebrate ourselves just as we are! 💕 2. Challenge Diet Culture: Say no to restrictive diets and unrealistic beauty standards. Instead, focus on nourishing your body and mind. 🍎 3. Safety and Efficacy: It’s a great opportunity to raise questions about the safety and efficacy of commercial diets. Let’s prioritise health over harmful trends. 💪 4. Honouring Victims: We remember those affected by eating disorders and weight-loss surgeries. Compassion and understanding matter. 🕊️ 5. Avoid Fixation: For today, and every other day, let’s avoid fixating on our own body weight. Our worth isn’t determined by a number on a scale. 🌟 Remember, health and vitality come in all shapes and sizes, and we can aim to be healthy at our own natural weight rather than thin at any cost. 🌟 If you resonate with this message, then you’re my kind of person and I’m yours. 💟 To gain a new perspective on food, body and exercise, come follow my page 👇🏽 @food_freedom_coach @a.b_logic_embodied_movement #nodietday2024 #ditchthediet #losehatenotweight #allbodiesaregoodbodies #healthateverysize #HAES #eatingdisorderawareness #eatingdisorderprevention

Let’s support each other in building healthy relationships with food and our bodies, free from guilt and shame. Remember, you are worthy of love and respect exactly as you are. In my last post I talked about the fear of being called fat when you are actually fat. This post is about the fear of being called fat when you aren’t actually fat. . Image description: there are seven slides. They each have an aqua border with text that reads: If being called fat is one of your worst fears and you’re not fat* (*which doesn’t mean you’re thin or that you don’t think you’re fat or that you’re not fat according to your family’s standards or according to the f*cked up BMI or you’re as small as you used to be, etc. Bodies are a spectrum of sizes not just thin or fat and it’s complicated. Read this post. Read my last one. See what resonates. Maybe they both will) . Of course you’re afraid. You’ve been indoctrinated into a culture in which you’ve been told in every which way that fatness is bad and to be avoided. And in a culture in which the word fat has come to be used as an insult whether someone is actually fat or not. The word fat gets weaponized in all sorts of ways and we’ve been conditioned to respond with shame . The way to be less afraid of being called fat is not to reassure yourself that you’re not fat or not “that fat,” but to center some of your healing on addressing your negative feelings about fatness and neutralizing the word. And to stop trying to control your body. The way to be less afraid of being called fat is to be less afraid of becoming fat. When your fears around getting fat decrease so does the fear of being called fat. . You’ve got healing work to do. It’s so important. You deserve to live a life free from this fear. And to process your feelings in a space in which they won’t be minimized. Consider what spaces this might be. Consider who the people who can hold this with you might be. Consider the potential impact if the person you want to talk to is fatter than you (and not your therapist- if your therapist is fatter than you and you don’t feel like you can process this with them that’s something to talk through with them or to find a therapist you can talk to about this) and ask for consent. (continued in comments)

Image description: there are seven slides. Each has a white background on the top half and purple on the bottom half. The text reads: If being called fat is your worst fear (and you are fat), I invite you to consider if it is being called fat you are afraid of or if it’s encountering anti-fat bias that you’re afraid of. Either way… Please offer yourself compassion. Of course you’re afraid. Of course you don’t want to be called fat. You have been indoctrinated into a culture that has told you in every which way that fatness is bad. . I have been in that place where I was terrified of being called fat. I couldn’t even fathom the possibility of fatness not being something I would spend my whole life trying not to be. As a fat person, the fear of being called fat is a fear of something that is already true. It may be that you’re afraid of someone noticing and you’re spending time and energy trying to hide your body with clothes, or positioning your body in certain ways. If you are fat the people around you already know you’re fat. No matter what clothes or positioning you try. I say that not to increase your self consciousness but to offer the possibility of letting go of putting time and energy into trying to contort yourself into a body size that isn’t yours. . Once I realized that I couldn’t prevent people from seeing my fatness, I also realized that I couldn’t be free of my fear of being called fat while also trying to hide my fatness. I hated that people were going to know I was fat whether I wanted them to or not and I felt so much freer when I stopped trying to appear different than I am. If you’re fat; you’re fat. You don’t have to like it. You can even hate it. And it is still true. (Continued in comments)

Did you know that we NEVER objectively view ourselves? Think about it... When we see ourselves in a mirror, it’s a condensed and mirror-image of what we look like. When we see ourselves in a photograph, it’s not only a mirror-image but it’s also a static snapshot in time. The part of our brain that is responsible for recognising "that image is me" when looking in the mirror or viewing a photo of ourselves is located in the limbic system of our brains: the part that experiences and processes emotions. This means that we are viewing our selves through the filter of how we feel emotionally each day. Consider this... How is it possible that we have “good days” and “ugly days”? Our appearance can’t possibly change so drastically day-to-day. And when we consider that our perception of other people's appearances remains relatively stable day-to-day, we can see that view of ourselves must surely be quite flawed. As for photos... Have you ever had your photo taken and thought that you look horrendous in the image? But then some years later looked at it more favourable? Perhaps even liked the photo? The diet and beauty industry has capitalised on our insecurities through making us believe that looking good = feeling good when in reality, it is the other way around: feeling good = looking good.

Body image has less to do with how you look and more to do with you how you perceive the way you look and the feelings you have about that perception. . Your feelings and beliefs about your body are influenced by how family, friends, and the media talk about bodies. We internalize these messages starting a very young age. Messages from diet culture about body size, self worth, and societal value are particularly damaging. . ✨Body image thoughts are fickle✨ Ex: Perception of your body can change from day to day even though your body’s actual appearance doesn’t. . ✨Body image thoughts are not facts✨ Ex: You may look at photos of yourself from the past and yearn for your body to look that way again— yet your body image on the day the photo was taken was poor. . ✨Body image thoughts are arbitrary✨ Ex: You may perceive someone else’s body as being acceptable at a certain size or shape, but do not hold your own body to the same standards. . Dieting and weight loss do not improve bad body image because they are focused on changing outward appearance, not on changing mindset. . Dieting and weight loss may make bad body image worse. Without addressing the thoughts fueling your body image, you will always feel as though there is something on your body that must be “fixed” no matter your weight. . Remember, “fat” is not a feeling. . Bad body image thoughts could be considered symptoms of another deeper emotion like feeling unloved, disconnected, undesirable, trapped, unacceptable, or unworthy.

I still can't believe this simple weight loss method exists. At 59, I'm fitting into my daughter's jeans again thanks to this simple ritual Could it help you too? I was watching Iron Chef the other night and saw chef Bobby Flay make an amazing pan seared halibut, with garlic lemon butter sauce. It looked so good I had to make some. So off I went to the local market to grab some Halibut and all the ingredients he used. The butcher was chatting with a gorgeous blonde who looked absolutely stunning,I mean, C'mon, stop flirting with her and serve me! Just when I was about to interrupt them she looked at me and to my surprise it was Stacy. I hadn't seen her for years and to be honest the last time I saw her she was the usual pudgy out of shape Stacy I'd always known. "OMG" I said. "Stacy How long has it been?" "Years," she said. I couldn't help myself, I had to know... "You look amazing, what's the secret?" I asked. She told me she came across Sam Hansen, who introduced her to a super simple 'Natural Blend Ritual' that had completely changed her life... I figured what the heck I'll give it a try and WOW. Not only do I sleep like a baby at night and never been healthier, but now I'm the one turning heads. Most Americans Have No Idea That This Simple "Strange 7-Second Powerful Juice Ritual" Exists...And Can Change Lives. All that I can say is that I love this. I'm down a pant size in less than 3 weeks. I can't even believe it. It's so unexpected because I still enjoy my regular food, plus wine and beer a few times a week. The best thing is I know that I'm losing weight the healthy way. I can't say it'll work the same for you, but you can take this short quiz and find out more about this method! Link is in bio! Maybe, just maybe your body is not the problem. Often people project their own discomfort of their own bodies onto other people. It’s no coincidence that people in the non diet space are more accepting of all bodies, because they are also constantly working on their own body acceptance... . . . . . #losehatenotweight #takeupspace #effyourbodystandards #dietculturedropout #antidiet #nondietapproach #haes #healthateverysize #plussizefitness #fitandthick #socialjustice

Anti-fat bias = PREJUDICE + POWER.⠀ ⠀ Have you heard about the 4 I's of Oppression? Nic McDermid @nic.mcdermid https://www.instagram.com/nic.mcdermid/inspired me to make these after she shared a story on her process of unlearning fatphobia using the 4 I's framework which is used in social justice work. ⠀ ⠀ Each of these levels is interrelated and reinforces each other. To dismantle oppression must address all four of these levels. None of these four aspects of oppression can exist separately.⠀ ⠀ “Oppression always begins from outside the oppressed group, but by the time it gets internalized, the external oppression need hardly be felt for the damage to be done. If people from the oppressed group feel bad about themselves, and because of the nature of the system, do not have the power to direct those feelings back toward the dominant group without receiving more blows, then there are only two places to dump those feelings--on oneself and on the people in the same group. Thus, people in any target group have to struggle hard to keep from feeling heavy feelings of powerlessness or despair. “ - Chinook Fund @chinookfund https://www.instagram.com/chinookfund/⠀ ⠀ Usual disclaimer for when a post mentions straight-sized folks: Thin privilege or size privilege doesn’t mean you're a bad person or that you don’t experience body image issues, you just don’t experience systemic oppression which is different. ⠀ ⠀ ID in alt text.... #FierceFatty #Bopo #Haes #Confidence #Curvy #Selflove #Psootd #Feminist #SelfEsteem #IntersectionalFeminism #BodyLove #EffYourBeautyStandards #LoveYourself #GenderFluid #RiotsNotDiets #FatAndFree #FatPositive #PlusSize #AntiDiet #TheyThem #FatLiberation #HealthAtEverySize #LoseHateNotWeight #BodyConfidence #BodyPositive #Nonbinary #LoveMyself #2SLGBTQ #TheBodyIsNotAnApology #BodyPositivity

Meet the 4 different types of hunger: . Physical hunger is the hunger you feel when your stomach is empty. You might experience physical hunger as a stomach growl, an energy dip, a headache, shakiness or dizziness. If your hunger cues aren’t super strong, you can keep yourself nourished by planning to eat every couple of hours. . Emotional hunger arises when we try to meet an emotional need with food. Sometimes food can be comforting, soothing, or joyful. Other times, food may only be a short term distraction. It’s important for emotional health to have more than just food in your emotional coping skills toolbox. . Taste hunger presents as a craving for a specific food. It’s ok to eat just because something tastes good! It’s also ok to wait until you are hungry again to honor that craving. When you make peace with food, you know that more tasty food is always coming, and taste hunger may not feel quite so urgent. . Practical hunger is physical hunger that you plan ahead to satisfy if you know you won’t have time or access to food when it’s time to eat again. For example, if you have a meeting during your lunch hour, you may choose to eat lunch early, even if you’re not hungry, because waiting to eat until after means getting ravenous. . Every type of hunger is valid! . Part of the process of intuitive eating is learning how to identify and honor each type of hunger in a way that makes you feel your best.
